  3. Waheguroo Jee Ka Khalsa! Waheguroo Jee Kee Fateh!! Over 50 Naujawan Khalse met with the Gurdwara Committee of Sri Guru Singh Sabha Northampton (17-19 St Georges St) yesterday. The Naujawan Khalsa was warmly received by the Gurdwara Committee and the meeting took place in the Divan Hall in the presence & guidance of Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji. Before commencing the meeting all joined to recite "Sri Benti Choupai Sahib da path". The meeting was well structured and all relevant issues were discussed in a friendly & respectful manner. The outcome is that the Committee have agreed to adhere to the Hukam of Sri Akal Takht and will not be allow Guru Maharaj's saroop to be taken to Hotels, Clubs & Pubs as of yesterday evening (7th August 2004). Out of the 3 Anand Karaj's booked this year by the gurdwara one has been rescheduled to the gurdwara. The other two will also be re-scheduled to this Gurdwara or other Gurdwaras in the area. The Naujawan Khalsa will help the Gurdwara with this. The Gyani Sahib of the Gurdwara did Ardas asking for forgiveness of previous actions and sumat for the future. This has been a joint effort by Naujawans from all over the UK. The co-operation of the Committee has been appreciated by the Naujawan Khalsa. Together we can overcome the issues facing the Khalsa Panth in the UK. The Guru has blessed all with his Grace! GurFateh
  4. Waheguroo Jee Ka Khalsa! Waheguroo Jee Kee Fateh!! SikhforLife No doubt, God can be obtained in all places. This will be based on our karmas. But the likelihood is that Sikhs will obtain more from sitting in a Gurdwara, than a make shift Sangat in a hotel. The purity of the Gurdwara will change peoples lives. God & Guru's kirpa is on all, however we have to do kirpa on ourselves aswell to become better Sikhs. Mr Amarjit Singh we will look forward to meeting you tonight.
  5. Waheguroo Jee Ka Khalsa! Waheguroo Jee Kee Fateh!! A Jatha of Singhs & Singhias will be meeting with the Committee tommorrow (7th August) at 9.00pm. 6. Waheguroo Jee Ka Khalsa! Waheguroo Jee Kee Fateh!! This beadbi stops now! We will not turn our backs on Guru Maharaj for an "interim" period. IT STOPS NOW! Mr Atwal, are you telling me this hotel would not otherwise clean its carpets and purify the air. You should tell these poor companies/organisations who spend thousands on these meeting rooms and dont even get a clean carpet - In fact report the Moat House Hotel to the trading standards office!
  7. Waheguroo Jee Ka Khalsa! Waheguroo Jee Kee Fateh!! Welcome to the discussion Mr. Amarjit Singh. If there has been anything said that has hurt you or your colleagues by me or anyone else in this forum then I apologise. You are probably wondering why we are "targeting this issue" especially the wedding in August of which your Gurdwara Committee will partake. Has this not been happening in the past? In fact I have found out that recently a similar wedding took place about a month ago in Northampton aswell. Believe me it’s not a case of targeting, the sangat will wish this Gurdwara along with all Gurdwaras in the UK and the world to flourish. Gurdwaras are an institution for learning Sikhi. It’s great to hear that Singh Sabha Northampton is active with teaching kirtan, gatka, Punjabi. However, what’s the basis or roots of Sikhism on top of which a sound foundation is obtained? A Sikh is only a Sikh if he follows the Guru's word in deed and action. What makes us look at Gursikhs with such pride and honour? It’s because they never deter from the Guru's teaching and principles, they live, sleep and breathe Guru. Acts outside of Gurmat is Manmat. Our Gurdwaras are not buildings but places of worship, why? Because Sri Guru Granth Sahib is present there. We will never dream to walk in the divan hall with shoes or uncovered heads. The Langar is prepared by devotees with love and affection and other sevadars do many kinds of seva. This is the Gurmayada promoted in Gurdwaras. This gurmayada must be adhered to where ever Sri Guru Granth Sahib is taken. We can never have this maryada practiced in hotels or clubs. When we talk about respect for Guru Maharaj its not just rumalas and Chaur sahib seva. There is a wider picture and concept which means "respect". In a nutshell this concept is the whole activities a Gurdwara will perform - this equals respect. This respect make Gurdwaras a place of high purity were a paapi like me is able to be saved by Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji. No hotel can offer this for a couple of hours; you will never beable to promote the Guru by taking his saroop to places where alcohol & meat are served. The hotel will never stop its activities for a wedding. The Northampton Gurghar does much seva and it sounds as if the youth are involved with the kirtan classes, gatka & Punjabi lessons. Please ponder on the fact of how the youth will be affected by this. Are you actually teaching them or merely speaking to them. Will they not think that our elders say a Sikh is this & that but when it comes down to it Sikhi principles are forsaken for other worldly reasons be that money or lack of space or attempts to extend. The Guru will provide, we cannot doubt this as Gurmukhs, living within hukam is His/Her order! Throughout Sikh History those Gursikhs have got respect and honour that adhered to the Guru’s teachings. The Guru forsakes those who turn their backs on Gurmat. I am happy to hear that Northampton Singh Sabha will refrain from taking Guru Maharaj’s saroop to hotels in the future, however there cannot be an interim period. This must stop - PERIOD.
  8. Waheguroo Jee Ka Khalsa! Waheguroo Jee Kee Fateh!! It is a massive problem, and worse still its become a norm in the UK. The Guru is being let down by: 1) Corupt Gurdwara Committee members 2) Manmukh "Sikh" Families and worst of all; 3) "Gursikhs" like me who have not voiced objection to this anti-gurmat act The Guru tests his Sikhs, its up to us whether we want to pass or fail.
  9. Waheguroo Jee Ka Khalsa! Waheguroo Jee Kee Fateh!! When I rang the Gurdwara the person I spoke to was very rude. He said his stuff and slammed the phone down. They are not willing to discuss the issues. Daasn Daas Ji ring them and find out their attitude, believe me you will be shocked!
  10. Waheguroo Jee Ka Khalsa! Waheguroo Jee Kee Fateh!! I have sent this letter today: Sri Guru Singh Sabha. 17-19 St Georges Street, Off Regent Square, Northampton NN1 2TN, United Kingdom. 04 August 2004 Amarjit Atwal Jagtar Cheema Santokh Uppal Dear Sirs I have been made aware that the Gurdwara of which you all are Committee Members is planning to partake in a wedding ceremony at the Moat House Hotel, Silver Street, Northampton. This is manmat and I am shocked to here that this Gurdwara has no respect for the Hukamnamma released by the Akal Takht banning such acts. You must understand you roles as Committee Members. You are supposed to be promoters of Sikhi, not exploiters of the weaknesses in our community. By accepting the wishes of the family you have shown that Guruji is a commodity which you sell at a price. Do you not think that if you refused the family, maybe they might have thought twice and moved the Anand Karaj to a Gurdwara. I contacted the Gurdwara yesterday and spoke to someone who was instantly defensive about the situation. His counter argument was that Guru Maharaj is taken to peoples houses where meat & alcohol is consumed. This answer reflects the anti-gurmat behaviour of this Committee. At the end of the day these families who have Akhand Paths, Sehaj Paths, Sukhmani Sahib or Kirtan in their house will adhere to Gurmaryada, even if it is for a couple of hours or days. The hotel will not shut down its bar or close its restaurants for this wedding. Nor will the staff or the hotel guests cover their head and remove their shoes. You cannot compa re the sharda of the families who bring Guru Maharaj into their homes against the attitude of this family who are only concerned about the length & enjoyment of the reception party. You are exploiting Guru Maharaj for your own ends, have you stopped to think how this affects the attitude of Sikh people? You represent yourselves and community & religious leaders, no wonder respect for Sikh people have reduced in the eyes of many. You are not practicing what you preach. Sikhi in the UK has been damaged by Committee members like you, this damage will take generations to mend. I plead with you to look at the long term effects your actions will have. You must adhere to Gursikh principles, those who do have all their issues resolved by the Guru himself. Sikh History is full of Gurmukhs who lived and died for Gursikh ethics. We are not a great as these Sikhs but we should not stoop so low to sell and forget these ethics. By reconsidering your actions you will be upholding Sikh values for which you all became Gurdwara Committee members. You must reconsider and stop this beadbi from happening on 22nd August. How can you partake in this insult and then celebrate 400 years of Guru Maharaj’s Prakash? I hope the Guru blesses you with Gurmat ethics to run this Gurdwara. Waheguruji Ka Khalsa Waheguruji Ki Fateh
  11. Waheguroo Jee Ka Khalsa! Waheguroo Jee Kee Fateh!! Khalsaji, these drastic steps need to be taken. Committee members such as Atwal are selling Sikhi cheap. They are running the Gurdwara on blood money. I would respect them more if they upheld the principles of Sikhi and opened the Gurdwara once a week due to lack of funds. However their faith is dead, whatever they are doing is because they think they own the gurdwara, and the commodity they sell is Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji! Partaking in the morcha against Alu Mushrooms made me think that there is a lack of education and reform to counter weaknesses in our community. One main reason for this is because these committees exploit these weaknesses to make money. This is the root of the problem. The committee has re-enforced the Family's manmat attitude and is helping them to fulfill a wedding which will have Gurmaryada insulted. These "sevadars" see no problem in this, its pathetic!! Beadbi is Beadbi whether by Extremist groups or by members of our own community. If fact the traitors in our community are worse as they damage from within. Sadh Sangat Ji reflect on this, many times during idle chit chat with other Sikhs the discussion end up on corrupt committee members. We are now reaping the effects of these peoples actions: No respect for Guru Maharaj: People moving away from Sikhi: People looking down at Sikhs thinking they dont practice what they preach. Also we are to blame, we just talk about the mismanagement of funds, lack of parchaar, high corruption and then turn a blind eye because they are part of our community or because we have become so lazy t hat being active in Gurdwara is a burden, lets leave it to these corrupt people to run! Please reflect, its 400 years of Guru Maharaj's prakash. The Guru is our Pride & Joy. There is no comparision of Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji. Please keep the pressure on by ringing and writing to the Gurdwara committee! Gurfateh!
  12. Waheguroo Jee Ka Khalsa! Waheguroo Jee Kee Fateh!! Just spoke to the Gurdwara Sahib. The person who picked the phone up ask why I was ringing and once he found out he put the phone down! They know they are in the wrong and are selling GuruJi to boost up their own egos. Maybe the Naujawan & Elders going on the weekend should take some books like "Sikhi for beginners" or "Sikhi for children under 10 years old" because these people dont have a clue of what they should be promoting. Bhai Charan Singh is there any info you can provide? Other phone numbers, Gurdwara address. Is there anyone from the cybersangat from Northampton? Keep up the pressure, we all say our Guru is Guru Granth Sahib. Now its time to prove it!
  13. Waheguroo Jee Ka Khalsa! Waheguroo Jee Kee Fateh!! This year sees the 400th Prakash of Sri Guru Granth Sahib. Sikhs are focusing on how to celebrate. Charan Singh has highlighted the only way to "celebrate" this occassion - STOP BEADBI OF GURU MAHARAJ! After committing such a paap how can this Gurdwara commitee and Mr Amarjit Atwal plan to celebrate this landmark day for Sikhi! When did Northampton become its own seat of Sikh Sovereignty, greater that Sri Akal Takht? I mean where will the shoes go? The hotel will not allow then to stay in the lobby (health & safety) Will the monay sangat bring rumallas to cover their heads? Will the hotel staff take their shoes off and cover their heads? Will the "party animals" who wish to get drunk refrain from drinking and then coming to sit in sangat stinking of booze? THIS IS A FARCE and we must stop it now. This beadbi has been allowed to happen by committee members such as those in Northampton Gurdwara for far too long. Bhai Charan Singh I will contact the Gurdwara now and come back with their reply.
