I just noticed this URL on the nytimes.com site topics.nytimes.com/top/reference/timestopics/subjects/s/sikhs_sect/index.html
It mentions Sikhs as a "sect" (not clear a sect of who/what?) so i decided to "Report and error" and posted this:
Why are Sikhs referred to as a "Sect" here :topics.nytimes.com/top/reference/timestopics/subjects/s/sikhs_sect/index.html ?
The term is inaccurate as Sikhs are not a 'sect' of any other religion or religious group.
They follow a distinct religion known as "Sikhism".
For some reason, the term 'sect' has been over-emphasized a bit on that URL.
I hope nytimes.com will correct this and publish only thouroughly researched and verified terminology.
Thanks.
