  1. GUYSSSSS......read the article again, you're getting it all wrong..... seva singh isn't the sellout.....read that portion carefully again...

"Punjab (Indian) leadership has surrendered to Hindus. Sikhs are suffering the consequences of the power hunger. There is no freedom of speech in India as 100 percent of Sikhs want freedom while some 80 percent are in the favour of Khalistan," said Seva Singh while talking to journalists at Nankana Sahib where Sikh devotees from all over the world gathered to celebrate the birth anniversary of their cult Guru Babaji Guru Nank."

ok... so the quote ends at Khalistan. the next portion of the sentence talks about nankana sahib, where according to the author "sikhs all over the world gathered to celebrate the birth anniversary of their cult Guru Babaji Guru Nanak"

not seve singhs words....the author's..... read the full sentences before insulting someone....

  2. Khalistan chief for dialogue with Indian govt

    Pak Tribune

    Saturday, 8th November 2003

LAHORE -- Exiled President of self-designed Khalistan government Sardar Seva Singh Lilli Saturday appealed to Indian government not to stifle their movement, saying they were ready to hammer out a peaceful and political solution of the problem.

"Punjab (Indian) leadership has surrendered to Hindus. Sikhs are suffering the consequences of the power hunger. There is no freedom of speech in India as 100 percent of Sikhs want freedom while some 80 percent are in the favour of Khalistan," said Seva Singh while talking to journalists at Nankana Sahib where Sikh devotees from all over the world gathered to celebrate the birth anniversary of their cult Guru Babaji Guru Nank.

The slogan of greater Punjab, he maintained was raised in a bid to mislead Sikhs. We cannot claim of Punjab, which is part of Pakistan because it is an independent and sovereign country.

We have a claim to Haryana and Himachal Pardesh and we would not rest until we get it. The youngsters, he added did not know much about Khalistan movement "because Indian media always presented the movement in negative light," he said.

One of the serious concern of Indian Sikhs is that of survival of their generation, alleging that pogrom of Sikhs were carried out by the then government in India during Khalistan movement. Threat to their survival has wiped of the enthusiasm and zeal, Sikhs demonstrated during 1984 movement, he opined.

  3. Do you think we can make a shabad already so rich more beautiful by repeating waheguru in it?

so re you saying, bhainjee, that doing simran in the shabad is actually dullifying the shabad??

    akjforever:

this might be an opportune to answer a question with a question...

he asks how you know that naam is waheguru, ask him how he knows that it isn't..... see where that might take you...

but at the same time, be prepared with your own argument...and please don't forget to make sure you know the whole shabad when you refer to tuks.. sometimes what happens is that the actual meaning and direction of the shabad is disgraced when we take a tuk here and there just to modify and reinforce an argument..

  4. if i may add:

doing simran in keertan, though it may seem appropriate anywhere, i'm not so sure that it is.

for example, i think that it makes sense to add simran into the shabad when the shabad itself "promotes" (didn't have a better word) the japping of naam. e.g:

    naam jappo jee aisai aissai..

    jap man satnaam sada satnam

    naam jappo meray saajan saina

but on the other hand, i don't think we should put simran when the lines tlk about the adverse impact of not doing simran. for example, if we don't do simran, then so and so happens.

i know this may be a bit confusing, but i thought i'd just add my two cents.

  5. surrey singh, correct me if i'm wrong, but i believe you said that no non-amritdhari should have any of the k's on him, for if he does then he is an imposter ( i use he as a generality, just in case tehre's anyone who gets offended by it).

How can you go on putting on Kakkars, without taking Amrit?

therefore, a non-amritdhari should not even BEGIN to grow his hair till after he has taken amrit. Kesh being kakkar, and kakkar being only worn by amritdharis.

  6. i believe that you should believe what you wish to believe, but i hafta agree with SOGGS and TheGuyDudeMan and ksb1228 (i think i got that id wrong)

i honestly think that as long as you're listening to guru granth sahib baani off that site, it's fine.just stay away from that Jai Jai Ram Singh bulltutti... THAT is ridiculous. i've listened to their Guru Granth Sahib Baani, and it's truly really nice, with it being done in puratan raag and everything. something you probly won't be used to if you've never heard it before, but it's not like crazy runs and stuff..it's very simple tunes, very nicely executed and IN raag!

in a sense, i agree with MKhalsa veerji, but i think the key thing is that we shouldn't even think about listening to their parchaar. when they're doing keertan, Baljeet Singh and Gurmeet Singh, they actually only sing Guru Granth Sahib baani. i've never seen a track of theirs that's one of those made up "Shabads" by their "Gurus".

avoid their parchar, but use their keertan style as an example to go forward with.

  7. i agree with akjforever... especialy recently, i've noticed a bit of a change in myself, that i'm becoming so much more adept to sikhi and so much more concentrated and dedicated to it, and it's no doubt largely due to the fact of the people i'm with at samagams and such. I agree with akjforever in large part. who you hang out with does have a huge influence on your own character, but the only difference in my opinion is it doesn't have a full influence on you.

  8. hat's the thing mkhalsa veer...do you honestly think, that supposing this was an RSS thing, that they'd give two hoots about the bad side of just dressing the amritdhari part?

as i said before, ther'es no "amritdhari breathalizer test". you dress the part, and you're in...it's such an easy target for RSS and other sikh-hating people... instead of dwelling on the past, we honestly should look at how we can secure the langar area better.

  9. Some people have the belief that Guru Nank Dev Ji's b-day should be celebrated only, because all of the Gurus are considered Nanaks. I don't agree with this. I think that all of the Gurus contributed to making what Sikhi is today. We should celebrate all of them.

    Waheguroo Jee Ka Khalsa!

    Waheguroo Jee Kee Fateh!!

agree.. for example, nowadays, my MSN name is only sikh history on this day... it teaches me, and it teaches others about sikhi...especially the ones who ask, well..who's dharam singh....so yeah, i agree
