  1. this is, in a sense, impossible... schools are given 2 week breaks for christmas... in asense, this is one method of celebrating it....

same with a long weekend given for easter

but i've been lucky.....at my school we now recognize 6 religion's holidays, and those student's are exempt from that day's work, and they are "allowed" to take the day off. they will not be penalized, unless there is a test on that day.

  2. here's more:

    Chandigarh, December 3

Two more followers of the controversial Dera Sacha Sauda, Sirsa, have been arrested in a murder case, according to information received here today.

It may be recalled that earlier three followers of the dera were arrested for allegedly murdering a Sirsa-based journalist, Mr Ram Chander Chhatterpati, on October 24. Since then various organisations of journalists have been demanding a CBI inquiry into the affairs of the dera.

The latest arrests have been made in connection with the murder of Mr Ranjit, son of Mr Joginder, a former sarpanch of Khanpur Kolian village in Kurukshetra district. Ranjit was murdered on July 10 when several shots were fired upon him. Ranjit was among the top hierarchy of the dera before he quit the sect after an anonymous letter alleging <admin-profanity filter activated> exploitation of women inmates of the dera started circulating. His sister, who was a student of an educational institution run by the dera at Sirsa, had quit her studies.

Informed sources say the dera suspected that the letter was written by Ranjit’s sister.

Later the Punjab and Haryana High Court ordered a CBI inquiry into the allegations levelled in the letter.

Immediately after the murder Joginder had suspected certain residents of his village for being responsible for the killing of his son. However, the police did not find any evidence against the suspects named by Joginder. Later he wrote a letter to the Haryana Chief Minister that he had come to know that his son was

murdered by a follower of the dera, Jasbir, whose father was the president of the managing committee of an educational institution run by the dera at Sirsa. Jasbir was also doing some business in the dera complex.

The investigation of the murder case was transferred from the district police to the Crime Branch of the CID, Madhuban.

The sources say the Crime Branch arrested Jasbir and Sabdil, a Punjab police constable attached with the head of the dera as his gunman, in connection with the murder of Ranjit, whose father had also moved the Punjab and Haryana High Court seeking a CBI inquiry into the murder of his son. The next date of hearing of the case is in February next year.

The sources say the head of the dera has five gunmen — three of the Punjab police and two of the Haryana police.

The two accused were produced before the Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate, Kurukshetra, Mr Krishan Kumar, this afternoon. The prosecution sought the police remand of Jasbir, from whom, it said, certain things, including the vehicle and the weapon used in the murder, were to be recovered. The court remanded Jasbir in police custody till December 7.

However, constable Sabdil was remanded in judicial custody for 14 days after he demanded that his identification parade should be held.

The police allegedly recovered a Gypsy (HP-03-A 0857) along with Rs 1.65 lakh in cash from the suspects. A heavy police force was deployed in the court compex when the suspects were produced before the Magistrate.

    karma...., reincarnation.......

maaaaan.....they're obviously trying to confuse people.... this is ridiculous... i don't understand why no one's ever heard of these guys before!?!

  4. More info on this story.... a friend of mine from college was god brother to Kamal Singh. Kamal Singh was half indian and half hatian, also the people that killed him were close friends. Apprently a day or two before the incident he was "jumped" by these same kids but Kamal ran away from them and called my friend and my friend was spouse to pick him up from school the next day, but my firend was an hour late by that time Kamal was confronted by the two bastards and was shot and killed.

    oh no!

i hope your friend doesn't feel responsible in an ways

  5. Desingh: i think the idea is excellent. the step should definitely be made to do "live" keertan :):( i personally applaud your efforts... as well, i personally dn't see any problem with using a keyboard or singing simple tunes... MKhalsa is right... as far as the singing of raags goes, i think that he's got it straight up. raag should be stressed, but it's not a one way ticket to hell if you don't. after all, singing baani is primary, method is secondary... hehe jus that raag method is 2(a) and simple method is 2(B) hehehe....

    my opinion only

  6. well, i've been surrounded by sangat since i was 2, so i've been maha-lucky that way haha... i've grown up around a gursikh environment, so i've been hearing keertan since i was 2. but i first fell in love with Chaman Laal raagi (i think he's changed his name now that he's taken amrit..i hope he has).... and then there was a bunch of tapes that i got from samagams that happened in Dodra back in the early 90's...i'm not even sure who the keertanis were...and then i got my first Dulla Veerji tape in 1993 i think.... his style was infatiuating... and thennn most recently, RJS Singapore wallay and Bhai Niranjan Singh JK vallay, and then last week i started listening to the pure raag keertan by Baljeet Singh (yea....the naamdhari one) and Gurmeet Singh.. but don't worry, i only listen to the actualy Gurbani......none of that "Jai Jai Guru Raam Singh" schnazz....

but hahaha yeah...that's my kirtan-loving evolution... don't get me wrong...it's not the people that got me into it, it's the style and the sound that got me going. i've been lucky, i guess, to be able to feel good about a lot of different styles of keertan.

  7. Why does it bother you that I mentioned that AKJ sangat is coming? Afterall it is an AKJ Ren Sabahee, so why not mention which sangat is coming? Just like if you guys, if you do one of your programs, you guys mention dodra or "sadh sangat" samagam.

    Waheguroo Jee Ka Khalsa!

    Waheguroo Jee Kee Fateh!!

what's with your fascination to bring the word dodra into everything you say?

i'm just asking why there's a reason you must specify akj sangat... or for example in your other post....is this the "AKJ Darshan Singh"..... maybe he's the "Sikh Darshan Singh"?

don't make AKJ sound like a whole seperate religion.. it's cool if you wanna specify the samagams, cuz, especially in our internet age, distinguishing between jatha samagams and sadhsangat samagams is important to some people. some people get a bad vibe from you after reading your posts. I personally believe that the Jatha is just as much a part of the panth as "Dodra", if you wanna call it that... or taksal. don't make it sound either higher or seperate.....evne tho you keep reiterating that you associate akj to mean sikh....just remember that sikh doesn't only mean akj

  8. bhai jaswant singh aka bauji.... when i met him i was 3, and was too busy playing with my hot wheels.. he had massive devotion to sangat... him and Gursevak Singh, yes... THE Gursevak Singh, the AKJ one, were the tightest of friends... but yeah..i'd love to meet him again... and atually i want the advice haha....i don't wana give any :)

  9. HOW TO STOP PEOPLE FROM BUGGING YOU ABOUT GETTING MARRIED

Old aunts used to come up to me at weddings, poking me in the ribs and cackling, telling me, "You're next." They stopped after I started doing the same thing to them at funerals.

  10. AKJ Toronto sangat will be attending.

    Waheguroo Jee Ka Khalsa!

    Waheguroo Jee Kee Fateh!!

will any other sangat from toronto be coming?? or is it only restricted to akj sangat from toronto?

could you not have just said sangat from t.o is coming..... why make the seperation....is it that much more special that these particular people from this particular jatha are coming? will it be less laha-filled if those who come from toronto who aren't AKJ come? i sure hope not!
