    well erm... it was quite good. I dont like Sonia Deol bit though. It made me realise suming... are our Sikh women not shining in society as much as the men? Not being sexist sorri, but i think if Sonia Deol was da best female Sikh role model the BBC could find... then where r we going wrong?

    The guy doing the play n that... wot the hell was with the "oh i dont believe Turban was one of the 5 K's otherwise it would be 5 K's and a T."... i mean, sorry i missed the joke... totally didnt get it. Was he tryin to diss AKJ rehat maryadha but messed up the joke?!

    But this issue has been raised before and people i think made their own minds up from that - u have a problem with the organisers of the events, then do please contact Charanpreet Singh or someone personally... not to keep raising this topic over n over again hunna.

    i dont think im diverting the issue. Ure talking about Gurdwaras and keertan and they r both key elements in the getting together of sangat.

    I dont think neone is really focusing on the keertani more... to whom do the sangat bow down to when they come into divaan hall? GURU GRANTH SAHIB Ji! Its not a concert man - u dont have people with photos of em waiting for the keertani to sign autographs (bit extreme i know but its an example). I jus think of it this way... the keertani bring in the sangat and in my opinion KEERTAN has been the key starting point in many peoples path to Sikhi. They fall inlove with the keertan (not the keertani) and they get more n more into it and its a starting point ESPECIALLY for youth. We are gifted in this world with Sangeet.. i have never heard or met neone who doesnt love music. Now its like this... if u r listening to bani at home, yes it is soothing but i think to actually sit in the presence and listen to the same bani live with Guru Ji actually in the same room, is something else. It is similar to a lot of things in life and therefore its similar to the keertani that are down too.. the live sound and buzz u get with the sangat is suming else. And if sangat enjoy b

    eing in their presence listening and watching them do keertan and at the same time also singing Gurbani along with them and repeating Maharajs name... then we should let it happen.

    And as i said to u before about the tv stations with the copyright... ure wrong coz its not even that strict. People dont get chucked out for using them. They are asked politely not to record and will be given the proper better quality recordings in the very near future. Now audio recordings.. its broadcasted live on digital radio... u can record from digital radio! No ones stopping ya. T-series n the rest of these companies which mass produce Gurbani CD's are spreading the Word using commercial means... buts its still spreading the word and YES they profit from them but in the same way they are advancing because they are now producing DVD's with extras and putting videos online for people all over the world. They shouldnt be profitting but i think the positive points about companies distributing keertan in this way outweigh the negative points.

    no im not talking about gurdwaras and keertan, i was talking about event that r based fundamentally predicated and promoted on whos coming or performing at the event. read my 1st post this is quite clear.

    i realise u dont think anyone is focusing on the kirtanee but that again has nothing to do with what i inititally raised either. but just to entertain that point its interesting how much sangat there is when a famous ragi jatha is here compared with some kid doing kirtan.

    actually there was an instance in californa when the famous ragi came out of his limo was signing autographs for his adoring fans so yeah!

    tv stns, hmm i asked in the initial post if they have sold recoring rights to alpha punjab so u cannot say im wrong as i dont think ur a representative of the organisers to say that.

    Im one of the organisers of 3 of the main Atam Ras Keertan darbaars here in Wolverhampton and i know a lil bout wots going on so dont u question where i stand in this matter. You dont really know jack Yes, Alpha TV Etc punjabi channel has given maya to ragi keertani to come to the UK for these smagams but the no copyright has been infringed. I run a website Sikhifm.com and the audio and video from these events will be available in a few days time.. now how cud i or even Charanpreet do that if zee networks had the copyright? Yes the keertani have been given maya to come here but if Alpha was a free tv station do u think they wuda paid the keertani? Its onli coz they have paying subscribers that they shud pay the keertani. I thank these raagi who do do a lot in terms of Gurmat Parchaar n i think there isnt enuff money in the world to thank them for this. They dont ask for it.. they r given it.

    As for u awaiting Charanpreets reply... DUH! OBVIOUSLY he is with the Atam Ras Keertan and u purposely have started this topic to have digs at him for not replying. Trust me, i aint best buds with him but i think wots right is right n im with him on this one. Whether neone else is or not.. dont matter. U voiced ure opinion. U wanted him to reply u shuda PM'd him personally not try to slander him for not replying to u when u know hes with Atam Ras at the moment. Bhul chuk maaf.

    Davinder Singh, yes u have a point. But you tell me suming, r they really doing so much bad? They spread keertan through means that the sangat will enjoy. Not everyone loves listening to raag. They arent all about money mate. I know Bhai Harjinder Singh and have spent time with him. He has a lot of nimratta. Dunno really bout the other keertani to be honest with you but hey... if u dont know JACK about them, who r we to slander them?

    Times have move forward... not sayin its gud they have but they have and i know for a fact that over 75% of sangat who comes to Atam Ras keertan absolutely love it and it does enspire them to keep listening to GurBani Shabad Keertan. We are celebrating 400 years of Guru Granth Sahib Ji. Dont be a prude Singh. They have really raised awareness of these celebrations and have DEFINITELY brought more sangat to the Gurdwara. Tell me suming... how have u raised awareness, brought people into Gurdwara and enlightened their souls?

    You do your own seva, and dont slander keertani who have so much more jeevan than us. Bhul chuk maaf karna.

    Ok jio listen up. I was involved in a very similar discussion a while back about this very same issue and i was really annoyed with the organisers (including Charanpreet Singh) for not allowing people to freely record these programmes in Gurdwaras.

    i still am annoyed however a LOT less and agree with Charanpreet Singh. The sangat wont get ne fulfillment (which is what these events are supposed to do) if they are gonna get annoyed at suming whilst keertan is going on. We need to minimalise these annoyances as much as possible. Now i tell u wot i think is annoying... 10 - 15 different cameras recording the same smagam.. all doing one thing - recording the same thing! So we should keep it minimal. Now people are not totally banned from recording however its a humble request that no one needs to record as the photos, audio and video shall be best quality than neone else can get and will be available openly once produced. Its better than cameras everywhere, flashes going off every 2 seconds and more microphone stands on the stage than the whole sangat.

    Its a shame... the Gurdwaras have spent thousands to bring Atam Ras Keertan and its not fair we should diss them this way. Thanks to everyone who helped bring them here.

    i can see where ure all comin from and i too thought like that a few months ago. But having helped organise the Wolverhampton Atam Ras Keertan which began onli today i can see how difficult it is.

    There ARE people there doing their own recordings but if it gets to the stage where theres too many people recording n faffling about every 2 minutes then i dont think the sangat will be too happy and people will be asked to not record. Aud

    io is not a problem as long as its only one mic and its not gettin in way of neone or nething like camcorders and photos arent reli a problem as long as ppl dont get up every 5 mins to take a photo and use flashes. They dont allow that in Harimandir Sahib so we shudnt allow it here in our Gurdwaras.

    Sorry if i said nething wrong. End of the day, Alpha Punjabi is a gud channel that promotes Sikhi too... it cant run on homemade ladoo.. it needs funding so it has to think like a business.

    Hey did neone in the UK go to the keertan in the park 2004 event in Gunnersbury Park on Saturday 28th August?! It was wkd man...! Would jus like to know wot people thought about the event n whether this kinda thing should be done more often? For neone who didnt go, view the fotos from the event at Sikhifm.com

    Bhai Ravinder Singh ji really kicked off the keertan with a wkd shabad that really captured the atmosphere. Bhai Niranjan Singh was wkd as always. I think the elder generation really loved Bhai Davinder Singh Sodhi too. But i think the most upsetting bit was that Bhai Harjinder Singh Sri Nagar Wale only got 15mins! Its criminal! He only done one shabad man... :D

    but oh i tell u suming guys, Bhai Niranjan Singh done his wkd simran tune and the sangat were soooooo hyped n happy. Beautiful. rolleyes.gif

    bhai sahib, the celebrations kicked off last week. but yes, we are celebrating now. met bhai harjinder singh, such a nice gursikh. and met GSGHKS. its a shame he wasnt singing shabad.

    ok erm... i dont think i said the celebrations kicked off this week... :T: :wub:

    but yeh its been totally wkd. Yes there is open air keertan at Gunsberry Park in Middlesex which is this Saturday 28th August. Be there jio.

    UK has had a total boost to its 400th Anniversary of Pehla Parkaash of Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji celebrations! The Atam Ras Keertan has really taken UK by storm n the sangats increasing every day. View some photos we took of the event at Walsall Gurdwara (Pleck) at Sikhifm.com and you know how we had this topic of how UK sangat has had such a wkd year so far... well Baba Maan Singh has also been here recently (still is too i think) and Bhai Balwinder Singh Rangila is also coming soon and we also have a open-air keertan smagam as part of Atam Ras Keertan on Saturday 28th August!! BOOSTED!!!!!!!

    Wow! So far the UK has had a wkd year and has been blessed with SOOO many musical and non-musical personalities such as Bhai Harjinder Singh (Sri Nagar Wale), Bhai Manpreet Singh, Bhai Niranjan Singh, Bhai Jasbir Singh (Khanne Wale), an excellent AKJ Rehansbhai, Bhai Daljit Singh, Baba Thakur Singh and SOOO many more...! and now we have another keertani jatha gracing us with their keertan for another 2 months... Bhai Onkaar Singh (Una Wale) who are absolutely fabulous.

    Thank u so much Maharaaj for blessing us soo much. We still have Bhai Avtar Singh Ragi who is coming and also Atam Ras Keertan Darbaar! Its absolutely amazing.

    To be honest i think everyone in this forum (especially Manjot Khalsa!) are aliens. Because i havent ever seen neone on this forum and therefore you are all operating from another planet. (MKhalsa is from Uranus!) hehe... oh and for those who r u from America - thats like a completely different planet neway!
