  1. ive only met him once n he seems safe... he came to get Bhai Harjinder Singh (Sri Nagar Vale) from Wolverhampton from Manchester when they came down last year so he also does seva too. Good on ya Mr. Singh... but i wasnt too keen on the Bollywood kurta!! Looked like a cross between Daler Mehndi and Malkit Singh "Golden Star" hehehe! Nah excellent achievement man... hes a bit of a academic role model for youth.

  2. first thing u shud do is install LINUX operating system on ure system and get to grips with it because thats a major requirement i hear. Also, u shud have knowledge of wired AND wireless networking. Look into how a switch and hub works. Look up cisco switches. Theres a starter for u. But i wud defo get to grips with Linux (RedHat version or similar like Mandrake).

Ok, in inspiration to the topic about why the nihungs were hiding, i have another question - WHY did Sant Jarnail Singh ji Bhindrawale use Golden Temple as his hiding ground? I mean.. was he hiding? Or was he using it as a fortress? I mean if he felt tensions strain between the himself and Indira Gandhis government, shouldnt he have gone to Anandpur Sahib just to be on the safe side, where he wouldve stood more of a successful chance if neone were to attack? I mean Anandpur Sahib is more like a fortress isnt it?

  4. i do not mean to be disrespectful and i mite be wrong in saying this so please correct me if i am jio.. i rely on the sangat..

out of respect for baba thakur singh, i dont think we should be calling him a sant... because im sure he has requested the sangat not to call him a sant. and the other thing is i agree with wot KANDOLA says about going to visit Baba Ji if he is at ure local temple in the evening or woteva... but i disagree with wot kandola says about "Its not everyday u get to see a sant",.. man, Guru Granth Sahib Ji is a Sant... You get to visit a Sant everyday if u go to the Gurdwara.

Once again, correct me if im wrong! ^_^

  5. i agree with the point of who r we to judge which raagi has more pyaar.

We have had this discussion before. Its like de ja vu...!

However thing is, i wud say let people express their likes n dislikes... at the end of the day, MOST of us (if not all of us) have likes n dislikes about many things in life and theres nuthing wrong in expressing them. I mean.. this is a discussion forum where people can voice their opinions. I think this topic wud inspire people who are not into keertan or who are getting into keertan to look at wot other people enjoy listening to and go n experiment for themselves... so its all gud i think

    Carry on with the faves...

  6. UH - OH! Aint we had this topic quite recently?!

His keertan and voice is absolutely amazing. He has a genius mind too with a lot of nimratta. Everytime i meet him hes always smiling and always has something inspirational to say. I have never seen him use Amrit Keertan when he sings or any type of notes either and i think he is one of the main keertani who spreads so much pyaar to kids and thus bringing them into Sikhi. I know 7 yr olds who try n collect his every CD and tape and r cuming into Sikhi coz of their love for his keertani. He does ure typical ghazal tunes to shabads but trust me, he knows soooo many raags its amazing. Definitely a gud Sikh role model.

AND other wkd keertanis include Bhai Niranjan Singh (artist formerly known as Sant!) who has such an amazing voice and tunes.... if u watch the videos on www.sikhifm.com of his amazing performances in Stratford Rd Gurdwara, Birmingham ull be dazzled. The hall has such a wkd echo too. Also Bhai Balwinder Singh Rangila is a fave because he does sumthing rare... he adds katha to his shabads with

a reli beautiful voice. Sant Anoop Singh has sum nice tunes too... and the classics of course.. Zakhmi, Bhai Avtaar Singh, Bhai Balbir Singh... it goes on n on!

  7. hmm... my view is that we shouldnt compare Hindu Gods to Sikh Gurus. I wud say u know wot, let them say wot they want. We shouldnt say that our Gurus or their Gods are higher... to me, their Gods (whether they existed or not) done good in their own way, and our Gurus in our own way. Always point out to Hindus and everyone that it says in Hindu scriptures.. that "Ishwar ek... roop anek" - There is only one God but in many different forms. We believe this too because we believe Maharaaj is in everything around us.

Never ever fall into the trap of saying ure faith is higher than someone else religion hunna... coz at the end of the day, the Hindu Gods had the same mission as our Gurus... to save those who wanted to be saved and to bring mankind closer to Maharaaj. YES.. the approaches and methods are different... but are the aims not the same?

OK enlighten me Sadh Sangat Ji...

a Gurdwara i know has this rule... unless u wear a kurta u cant sit on stage. NOW, sumthing like this is fairly common in India yeh where the kurta has to be as plain as possible and the women have restrictions to the type of suits. But how come when someone is itching to do keertan on stage whilst wearing clothes that are simpler than most kurtas and suits the other keertani on stage was wearing, the person is not allowed to sit on stage?

For example, is plain black trousers and a plain coloured top worse than a woman wearing frilly multicoloured suits or guys wearing kurteh pyjama that looks like a night suit or that has just been stolen off a Bollywood film set?!!!! Coz i think this is a silly rule... i imagined a scenario - wud Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji had stopped this person from sitting on the stage coz of his clothes? N the answer i got was no. So... wot ya think?

Its good that Gurdwaras hav a maryadha but has this Gurdwara failed to update their rules?

Shouldnt wot is inside the person matter more than wot the person is wearing?! And are keertani there to look pretty?! Doesnt frilly suits and kurtas divert ppls attention away when their eyes should be closed?!

  9. hehe
