  1. I can't say anything about him as I don't know much about him but in general I would give a big F grade to such leaders.

    Off-topic...

Master Tara singh's daughter rajinder Kaur wrote some high negative allegations against sant ji.. (he mentioned in one of his speeches about her faults). Kiranjot Kaur is master Tara's granddaughter who is sgpc member.

  2. How do you or we make lost sikhs to listen to our gurus? We dont have good books or good authors, neither there are any introductory course. We dont have video production but heavily rely on pure biased 3rd party production house. We dont have gurughars who are upto date nor they can convince any single individual to stay strong in sikhi path. They are not simply trained to do so. The problem is with people who realized sikh dharam but not doing anything to share it with other apnays.

  3. From speeches it seems like sant jee realized nefarious plan of sgpc/akali dal. Akali dal started the rumor and blamed sant jee for bhai sodhi's death. They also played tricks that sant is leaning to congress etc.

Also, sant jee supported and respected longowal very much, only that later on longowal banned sant jee speaking or holding any dewan inside or anywhere near manji sahib hall.

  4. ...a few years ago Guru Tegh Bahadur ji was mentioned like a plunderer in one of the history book of NCERT and now its turn of Guru Gobind Singh ji in NCERT grade XII book. The news below further proves the fact how watchful we have to be. Thanks to the people who noted this blunder and raised their voices.
NCERT to replace para on Sikh Guru
    Tribune News Service
    New Delhi, November 10, 2006
Following the objections raised by Sikh organisations against “objectionable” references to their Guru, the National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT) has decided to replace a paragraph on Guru Gobind Singh in its history textbook for class XII.
The NCERT decided to replace the paragraph in the book, Modern India, written by Prof Bipan Chandra, according to a circular issued by the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE).
The paragraph in the book says, “Bahadur Shah had tried to conciliate the rebellious Sikhs by making peace with Guru Gobind Singh and giving him a high mansab.
But when, after the death of the Guru, the Sikhs once again raised the banner of revolt in Punjab under the leadership of Banda Bahadur, the emperor decided to take strong measures and himself led a campaign against the rebels.”
It will be replaced by a new paragraph now, which will read: “In the early eighteenth century the Sikhs once again raised the banner of revolt in Punjab. They did so first under the leadership of Guru Gobind Singh and after his death under Banda Bahadur. The emperor, Bahadur Shah, decided to take strong measures and himself led a campaign against the rebels.”

The letter alleges that N.C.E.R.T.'s class (grade) XI history book in a chapter on a 'Mediaeval India' mentions on page 125 that Guru Nanak Dev 'renounced' the world - a complete misrepresentation of Sikhism and against the first Sikh Guru's teachings of grahist jiwan (family life).
Prof. Badungar also pointed out that in another instance on the same page the Sikh revolt has been described as a 'Hindu movement
  5. Now i think its probably the same thing as this below news article from same year mentioned Guru tegh bahadur sahib ji.. Sikhism and Sikh history have been distorted and subverted in high school text books prepared by National Council on Education, Research and Training (NCERT)

    -----------------------------

With the Sikh community taking strong exception to some alleged "misrepresentation of facts" in its history books, NCERT has decided to get these portions checked by a well-known scholar and historian. NCERT's decision has come following a letter to its Director Krishna Kumar last week by Human Resource Development Minister Arjun Singh, who had received a memorandum from Delhi Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee (DSGMC), saying certain references to Sikh history was "hurting the sentiments of the community."
The memorandum was presented to Singh by DSGMC during the minister's recent visit to the Gurdwara appealing him to direct NCERT to get these references checked by former Vice-Chancellor of Guru Nanakdev University in Amritsar, Prithpal Singh Kapur.
"We have a Sikh scholar as the member of our panel which approves the matters in history textbooks. Now we will be sending the references on the Sikh history to Prof Kapur, as demanded by DSGMC and mentioned in the minister's letter," highly placed sources in NCERT said.
"There are certain misrepresentation of facts in the existing text books. This hurts the sentiments of the Sikh community. We had demanded the texts to be ratified by Prof Kapur," DSGMC President Harvinder Singh Sarna informed.
The earlier text books, which have been replaced now, had also a lot of misrepresentations of facts on Guru Teg Bahadur, Sarna alleged.
However, NCERT spokesman Ashish Bahad said whatever alleged misrepresentations there were in the earlier books have now been deleted and the new lot of Council's books do not have these portions.
NCERT has introduced new textbooks in five classes from this year including those for class I, III, VI and IX.

It really depends on what your website will be about. If it is text based then any hosting is okay. There are 2 types of hosting; Linux based and windows based. Linux based got Cpanel and windows type got the plesk panel. I believe that 90% of the hosting are Linux based.

Take a look at www.HostGator.com and make sure that your plan offers cpanel which is basically a front end where you can add subdomains, email address, forwarding, scripts like wordpress, joomla etc. Cpanel makes job bit easier. Godaddy is also a good choice (use coupons from retailmenot.com). I used both companies and they are good.

Any plan should not cost you over $10 a month if your website will be more about text rather than video/audio stuff.

    Hope this helps.

  7. If there is one superstition more strongly reprobated than another in the Sikh sacred writings, it is pilgrimages to the places deemed sacred by the Hindus. Some of the Sikh States, in ignorance of the teachings of the Gurus, have maintained temples and spiritual arenas at Hardwar and Rikhikesh for the reception of pilgrims.

At Hardwar there are held great religious fairs every twelve years at the time when the sun enters the lunar mansion of Aquarius (Kumbh). It is calculated that at least one hundred thousand Sikhs were present at the last great fair at Hardwar. All these pilgrims bathe in the Ganges; while bathing many recklessly yield to the necessities of nature ; others drink their excreta with the Ganges water as sacred nourishment, and die of cholera either at the fair or on their homeward journey. The corpses of Sikhs, as well as Hindus, were pulled out of railway carriages after the last twelfth-year fair and poisoned the country. The pest then extended east and west in all directions. Kabul, of course, on the western boundary of India, was soon affected, and the further progress of the disease towards Europe was thus described by the Paris correspondent of the Morning Post :-

Professor Chantemesse, Director-General of the Public Health Department, made a somewhat disquieting statement at today's meeting of the Academy of Medicine. He pointed out that the cholera epidemic, which originated in India and spread east and west, had established itself last autumn in four European centres, namely Transcaspia, Transcaucasia, Anatolia, and the banks of the Volga between Astrakhan, Saratoff, and Samara.

As the winter cold had merely checked the disease, instead of stamping it out, there was every reason to fear it would continue its progress westward, by way of the Baltic ports, the Black Sea, the Danube, or Constantinople. 'According to another account, seven thousand deaths from cholera occurred in the Punjab since the second week of April. The disease was originally disseminated by the returning pilgrims from Hardwar.'

Of course there were also many Hindu pilgrims at the Hardwar fair, but let any one consider what a gain it would be to the world if the one hundred thousand Sikhs l who attended it possessed such a very elementary knowledge of their religion as to know that their action was reprobated by all their holy Gurus.

  8. BJP defies the order of Sri Akal Takht Sahib:

BJP state president Kamal Sharma today said before taking any further step, the party would provide ample time to its coalition partner the SAD to get all objects glorifying militant leader Jarnail Singh Bhindranwale from the Operation Bluestar memorial.

Sharma said following objections raised by the BJP, the SGPC (Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee) had got some of the objects removed but a few inscriptions continued to be there on marble slabs. He said Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal had set up a committee for the purpose, “but a few radicals were trying to create hurdles”.

“A handful of radicals are trying to keep alive their provocative agenda, which had reversed Punjab’s growth during the dark days of terrorism. Radicals are detrimental to the interests of not only Punjab but the entire country. Our state has already paid a heavy price for the decade-long violence,” he said.

Sharma claimed a phase of development had been launched in Punjab by the coalition government and the last assembly elections were fought on that (development) agenda itself. On the “differences” between the coalition partners, he said district-level coordination committees of both the parties would meet in case there were any such issues.

“The SAD is a trusted ally of the BJP and both the parties will unitedly contest the next Lok Sabha elections,” he said.
