  1. http://satsriakaal.org/miss_kaur.php <_<

    A quote from one of the participants;

    "Y MIS KAUR INT:-

Because i am just simple sweet and ambitious girl whose set out to be some one diff from other girls no doubt i am a kaur as my guru has made me diff fro others and that's wat i ant to show that how dif i am!! How kaur i am!!"

Yes, let me show you how different I am by being as dumb as every other beauty pageant contestant and by using Kaur as an adjective.

  2. On a more serious note, it's simply in the nature of a religion to branch off into different areas, to fragment as diverse peoples join, and to grow increasingly complex as the literature on the subject grows with the passing of time.

The central message of Sikhi is so simple, that the vast majority of thinking people cannot but help tease things out of the teaching to appease their rational minds.

There's nothing wrong with that - after all the vast majority of us don't have the faith and the discipline to simply learn Gurbani, to live a simple wholesome life, and to do naam simran - but without actual practise and experience of union with the Divine, they are just games for our egos to play.

The solution is simply to learn from people of high jeevan, and to follow the path in a practical sense in whatever way you find most comfortable, and trust that the sangat you keep and Akal Purakh will lead you on the path. Similarly, you need to recognise that your fellow Sikhs may have a different experience and a different need.

Some people who emphasise kirtan and shabad bani will find a comfortable niche in AKJ, people of intensely scholarly and mystical bent may be attracted to jathas of Nirmala persuasion, and others who have a greater need for the more martial aspects of Sikhi may find themselves at home in a Nihang Dal. They are all Sikhi, and their essence is the same.

Oh, and you should kill everyone with whom you disagree.

  3. Sad story, veer ji.

I hope your brother is well and recovering after his ordeal.

My advice is to contact a good lawyer, involve any Sikh organisations in the area and lodge a complaint against the police, the security men, the venue that you were in and the team you were supporting (the latter to get maximum publicity). I would also contact your local newpaper with the story.

From personal experience, two people involved in a confrontation with security or police doubles the probability of having a bad outcome. You did the right thing by staying out of the washroom.

    Regards,

    - K.

  4. Great website.

The section on Ik Oankar, the discussion on the meaning of Shiva/Shakti in Dasam Bani and how this is confused by Avatar worship by some people, and the explanation of the three gunas and their relation to Nihang activities like chatka are very enlightening.

If you don't mind me asking, where do these ideas come from? Can they be found in specific puratan granths?

    Ta muchly,

    - K.

  5. Kaljug Singh, Where can one learn to shoot? I also want to learn how.

I live in South East London

    WJKK WJKF

You'd need to join a shooting club in your area and then apply at your police station for an FAC. You also need to have a secure safe to keep your rifles/shotguns and a separate secure place for your ammunition before you will be granted one.

Shoot (har har!) me a PM with your email and I'll get back to you with some info later. I'll ask around and see if anyone knows of shooting clubs in the East London area.

    - K.

  6. I guess I'll start then.

    Spiritual steps:

    - Recite Chandi di // with morning banis, also trying to fit in Ugardanti.

    - Attempt to read and understand Dasam Bani on a regular basis

    - meditation, both sitting (for clarity of mind) and standing (to overcome discomfort and to attain the ability to relax in stressful situation)

    - Chi Kung to increase the body's energy reserves

    Practical steps:

    - Increasing strength through weight training

    - Cardio for endurance

    - Arnis for easy and effective weapons and emptyhand combat

    - I'm starting olympic wrestling and muay thai again in a month or two

    - Applying for my Fire Arms Certificate to take up small bore rifle shooting

    What about you?

    - K.

  7. By the way, I want to give thanks and much love to my Veer Jis who respondedto this thread with thoughtful answers, and a special thanks to sunnybondsingh84 for replying to this thread and to another thread on ugardanti that I learned from through his answers. :-)

  8. I feel I should have been more clear in my question.

I have a pretty good idea what other soormay Gursikhs did to remain tyar bar tyar, but the question is what do YOU do to stay tyar bar tyar?

The original question had two separate parts bolded to emphasise the fact that both spiritual and practical steps must be practised to remain tyar bar tyar:

Yes, you will never have the courage of Baba Deep Singh to give up your head for Guru Ji unless you have some spiritual experience and deep faith in Guru Ji's Hukam, but if all you do is pray and meditate and you neglect your physical training for war, you will likely be killed in battle and attain Sachkand but you will have failed in destroying your dusht.

So let me ask it again:

    1) What spiritual steps do YOU take to remain tyar bar tyar?

    2) What practical/martial steps do YOU take to remain tyar bar tyar?

    - K.

  9. I hope that we all know how essential being tyar bar tyar is for a Sikh.

What spiritual steps do you take to strengthen this quality in yourself?

Do you read Chandi di //, Ugardanti, or other Dasam Bani in addition to your nitnem?

Do you practice naam simran or meditation to ensure that you have a clear mind that is untroubled by strife and conflict?

    What else?

What practical steps do you take to be tyar bar tyar?

Do you ensure that your kirpan is sharp, easy to access, and can actually be used in combat?

Do you practice gatka, kali/arnis/eskrima, krav maga, or some other martial art that specialises in weapon combat (in other words, are you confident that you can actually make full use of your shastar without hurting yourself)?

Do you regularly engage in a fitness and strenth training?

Do you practice awareness training in your everyday life?

    What else?

  10. In regard to Guruji's obvious respect for Durga in such compositions, if one looks at it with a NeoSikh, revisionist attitude it will seem negative, but from a purataan perspective there is no contradiction as Guruji obviously never worshipped any incarnation, goddess etc...

I'm not quite sure what you mean by a Neo-Sikh revisionist attitude. Would you care to explain the distinction between this and the purataan perspective, Veer Ji?

I agree that Dasmesh Pita did not worship any Devi/Devata, and the composition of Ugardanti taken as a whole refutes the idea of Durga being the supreme being, but I have trouble understanding lines like "Whosoever prays to you crosses over this ocean of the illusory world". I feel that this goes beyond the idea of respect.

The Chaubis Avatar, Chandi di //, all have warlike retellings of traditional Hindu tales, but none of these seem to include lines like "I am your slave longing for the dust of your feet" (written in the first person it seems by Guru Gobind Singh).

    Thanks for your input.

  11. The Sodhak Committee came togheter between 1895-1897 and studied the 32 Dasam Granth birs that were circulating around Majha's Amritsar area at that time.

From them the standard Dasam Granth was made and 8 Bani's were removed.

Standard Dasam Granth contains 16 Banis (15 because 1, the Khalsa Mehma, is a Bani from Sarbloh Granth) and 8 Banis were removed. Means in all 32 Dasam Granth Birs togheter, 23 different Banis were present.

And Uggardanti was not part of these 23 Banis, thus was never "removed" by anyone, just not included in the standard bir.

So it must be contained in Pothis outside of Amritsar.

There are many Bani's likewise, that werent in the Amritsar area Dasam Granth's but were there in Dasam Birs of outside Amritsar or Punjab. (Uggardanti, etc)

Thanks for the information, Veer Ji. Do you know the names of the other banis that were not included in the standard Dasam Bir and where I can find them online?

    - K.

  12. Hmm. So, I have only very recently come across this bani in my Tarna Dal gutka. I've never seen it in any Dasam Granthi pothi I've ever seen either.

Does anyone have any information on the date of composition? Why was it removed from the Dasam Granth, and when was it removed?

I must confess, though the bani is beautiful to read, I find some of the lines a little .. difficult. Though it's obvious that Durga is a creation of the Almighty, why would Guru Gobind Singh bow his head to a force that is inferior to Akal Purukh?

(By the way, please don't let this to degenrate into a debate of the veracity of Dasam bani.)

  13. Take all the practical measure suggested above.

On a more personal level, read Chandi di // with your morning nitnem, and sharpen and clean your kirpan every week or so. ;-)

  14. His (Niddar's) real name is Surjit Bains.

Ta, mate. Any clue as to his date of birth? Interested parties want to know.

    - K.

lol what you trying to do identity fraud ? :D .

yeah the comments on facebook are very wrong, dropping names like that without proof can cause alot of issues with in the community.

Naw, mate. I'm just trying to figure out if his mother is still alive so as to inform her of her son's nindiya. Then we can see how his shastar vidya stacks up against his mother's chappal and thappar vidya.

  15. OK, so would someone who is familiar with the part of Southall in which this event took place please send me any details?

The date this took place and the name of the organiser of the event would be helpful as well so that I can lodge a formal complaint with the Southall authorities.

By the by, one of the reasons that this kind of person feels little fear in spreading such filth in public is that they are fully aware that Sikhs will start whining about the state of (other) Sikhs rather than get off their backsides and do something about it.

You do not have to go forward and cracking heads, if you lack the courage or conviction. All you have to do is make sure that your local newspapers are aware of the situation and that you and the rest of the local Sikh community lodge complaints with the police.

For those of you that are local, please contact the metropolitan police. I'll even save you the trouble of having to look up their details:

    Metropolitan Police Service

    190 Norwood Road,

    SOUTHALL, UB2 4JT

    020 88411212.

Edit: You can report the hate crime online here:

  16. Steroids undeniably have a negative effect on health, but they are nowhere near as dangerous as people make out.

As long as your friend is not taking too many oral steroids like dianabol or oxymetholone which are liver-toxic, he should be fine as long as he has a good strong PCT (post cycle therapy) planned. He will also need to have a good aromatase inhibitor to hand if he is using aromatising steroids like testosterone (to prevent gynocomastia, i.e. man boobs).

Send me a PM if your friend needs information on coming off steroids safely. I'd be happy to provide him with some information.
