  1. who cares with Ganda Singh or Giani Ishar Singh's view of history? We have Guru Sahib to prove what is true and false!! We have a choice: 1/ believe Ganda Singh, Ishar SIngh and other historians who claim these manmat things or 2/ Read gurbaani and recognise Guru Granth Sahib Ji as the speaking voice of the Gurus and use this as the testing ground to accept or disregard stories or accounts claimed about the Gurus. <_< Sad thing is that Sanatan Sikh believers/sympathisers/followers seem to have more faith in "Historical accounts" of x, y and z authors rather than Gurbaani, Bhai Gurdaas Ji's Vaars and Sikh Rehat Maryada!
  2. If polgyamy is okay and occured with Guru Sahibaans then shouldn't the shabad read: "// naaree-aa(n)... Husband and wives..." ?? Or do we believe our Guru and respect Gurbaani? So how do pro-polygamy people who are trying to distort gurmat accomodate gurbaani?? Husband and wife = two bodies (not three, not four, not five or 100 - BUT TWO (one husband + one wife) but one soul. Please read Gurbaani and use Gurbaani as the test ground to test claims put by ignorant scholars and non-Sikh scholars ignorant of Gurmat. GUrbaani = the speaking soul of Guru Nanak Sahib (and the Das Saroop) - so why ask someone else whether Guru Sahib's believed or practiced in polygamy? ask guru and guru will speak to us and if we see the living human (ten) gurus as the Living Shabad who put the Shabad Guru into reality then why do we question our Guru and get entangled by ignorant comments made by so-called historians. Please think and please follow GUru Ji.
  3. The Sixth Gurus (only) wife was Mata Nanaki Ji The manmat made-up story about Guru Hargobind Singh having 6 or 10 wives (waheguroo wot next - 100 wives?!?!?!) is a shameful thing to say! The story (told by those who support polygamy) is that in 1620 Guru Hargobind Singh saw Bibi Mehrai (a Muslim lady) and fell in love and so he married her. What utter nonsens and shameful thing to say! Guru Khalsa lets put a stop to such rubbish!!!! Lets not get in the traps of those who wished to destroy Sikhi from the times of the Guru Sahibaans. Guru Raka!
  4. Gurus have 1+ wives = incorrent and manmat to think! We have not recorded our history - Hindus and Muslims have! Everyone has their own agenda when recording history and their world view perspective of things = different. Maata Jeeot Ji (proper name Mata Ajeet Kaur Ji) was supposed to get married in Lahor to Guru Gobind Singh ji. However the Sikhs and Guru Sahib found out that the Mughals had realised that marriage was to take place and planned to attack. Guru Sahib then asked for Mata Ajeet Kaur Ji and her family to come to Anandpur Sahib to have the Anand Kaaraj. "If we cannot go to Lahore, we will bring Lahore here" - In the beautiful hilly area close to Anandpur Sahib, Guru Sahib founded the village "Guru Ka Lahore" (based on the Lahore story!). Mata Ji and Guru Sahib were wedded there. According to Indian culture and Islamic culture - Kings, high status people and people with great wealth and respect, have more than one wife. The Hindu and Islamic world-view perspective and ignorance of Gurmat and history, Hindu and Islamic historians recorded that Guru Sahib got married in Lahore and in Guru Ka Lahor, Anandpur Sahib. It is common Panjabi practice (still happens!) that when a newly wed wife comes to her new home that the inlaws give her a nick name. e.g. Gurbaksh Kaur may be called Gulaabo in her inlaws home, or Rattan Kaur may be renamed with a named Sewa Kaur etc Mata Ajeet Kaur Ji was very beautiful. Mata Gujari Kaur Ji gave her the name of "Sundari" - hence people started to call Mata Ji - "mata Sundree ji" Mata Sahib Kaur - her parents wanted her to marry Guru Sahib. Guru Sahib said, "I have a wife - i desire no one-else to be my marital partner." Mata Sahib Kaur (previous to taking amrit called "Mata sahib Deva") sed that her father has told everyone since i was born that I will married to Guru Ji. Now, no one will marry me! Guru Sahib agreed that Mata Sahib Kaur could live in the household as a "Gursikh" however NOT as a marital (physical) partner. Guru Sahib told her "you cannot have children with me, because i have a wife" - however future will reveal itself and you will have thousands who will honour you as their mother. THis is from the Professor Sahib Singh Ji's Book: "Itihaas Guru Gobind Singh Ji" The litmus test for anything = test it with Gurbaani! Anyone can make up manmat galaa (things) and say it is true.!! Unfortunately groups promoting Hindu-fied and distorted view of sikhi such as RSS, Sanatan Sikhi, and Buddha Dal are spreading this rubbish to others. Please read Gurbaani and make up your own mind!
  5. Panthic Sikh Rehat Maryada says about Hukamnama: Also a very useful article on Panthic Weekly which explains the Sikh Rehat Maryada. Last week's issue explained the Rehat surrounding Gurdwara. Panthic Weekly - Sikh Rehat Maryada Explained

  8. Vaheguru Ji Ka Khalsa, Vaheguru Ji Ki Fateh Sikhi To The Max (laptop version) doesn't have dasam paatshah de shabads on there - so I have put together some Word files which you can use at your local Gurdwara or Kirtan programmes. I thought because Vaisakhi is coming, it would be nice to have translations of Dasam Paatshah's shabads available to project at Gurdwaras and events. These are the shabads which I have put in a compressed folder: 1/ 6 Paurees of Anand Sahib + Salokh 2/ Deh Shiva 3/ Jin Prem Kiyo Tin Hee Prabh Paaeyo 4/ Judh Jithae Tin Hee Ke Prasaad 5/ Mitar Piaare Noo 6/ He Rav He Sas 7/ Khag Khand Bihandan Khal Dal Khandan 8/ Jaagat Jot Japai Nis Baasur 9/ Jabai Baan Laagio Tabai Ros Jaagio 10/ Khalsa Mero Roop Hai Kaas (incomplete translation) 11/ Aavo Sikh Satguru Ke Piyaaro (because its from Anand Sahib (23rd pauree) it takes time to get from Sikhi To The Max) Please pass on the files to your local Gurdwara if they have laptop projector or to any other Gurmukhs who would find it useful. Thanks Daas, sher_punjabi Dasam_Paatshah_De_Shabad__Anand_Sahib___Salokh__more....zip

  13. 1) Only people who believe in Guru Granth Sahib Ji as their Guru and actually are Sikhs and Sikhs because of parents or just for the name sake should have Anand Kaaraj. 2) Main causes of divorce = adultery, violence, abuse, communication - Gursikh (a sikh of the guru) doesn't commit adultery or drink alcohol which is main cause of domestic violence. 3) Sikh marriage = spiritual journey - if u do sewa, simran, and sangat together - then i don't see how u can get divorce. Main Causes of divorce (to my knowlege): 1) lack of communication amongst couple 2) abuse/ violence / alcoholism etc 3) no compromise 4) Seeking another man or women to fulfill ur desires if we follow guru's teachings then divorce is not an issue - if we dont follow guru's teachings then yeah you will get divorce occuring. my humble views - dont wish to cause offense to anyone. bhul chuk maaf

  15. Vaheguru Ji Ka Khalsa, Vaheguru Ji Ki Fateh Dear Sangat on Sunday 1st May the Bicester Saadh Sangat are holding (their first time) Kirtan Darbar to mark Vaisakhi, 306 years of the Khalsa Panth. Bicester is a village in Oxfordshire and there's no Gurdwara nor any Amritdhari's except for a Chardikala Gursikh veer ji who is a Leuitenant in the British Army and he and his family live in Bicester Army quaters. My fuffar ji from another near by town has arranged and organised the Vaisakhi programme so that the Bicester Sangat can eventually do regular sat-sang and be educated and inspired by Gurmat and Gurbaani. Unfortunately not many people know much about Gurmat so there was more of a reason to organise a programme and hopefully make it a monthly programme and get the sangat in the spirit of Sikhi. For this reason if any one can spare their time to come do darshan of the Sangat and join the programme that would be a great help and support. We need Sikh Sangat and Gursikh role models to inspire people and give a helping hand. If anyone would like to do Kirtan then please email me: manvir_singh_khalsa@yahoo.co.uk thanks below is the poster with all the details: Vaisakhi Kirtan Darbar 10am - 1pm Sunday 1st May 2005 The Old Vicarage Cottage Frankford Road, off B4100, Caversfield, Bicester, Oxfordshire OX27 8TH Vaheguru Jia Ka Khalsa, Vaheguru Ji Ki Fateh Bicester Saadh Sangat are celebrating Vaisakhi on Sunday 1st May, 2005. Everyone is invited to join and share in the celebrations for Gurbaani & Kirtan. The Programme will begin at 10am with Sri Sukhmani Sahib da Paat, followed by Kirtan and Katha by energetic and chardikala naujawan youngsters (who will also provide English explanations). Please come and support the local sangat. If anyone would like to do Kirtan or would like further information, please email: manvir_singh_khalsa@yahoo.co.uk

  17. <_< 1699 Amrit Sanchaar - Guru Sahib bestows Amrit to Panj Piaare Chhotey Sahibzaadey taking Khandey Baatey Da Amrit:
  18. Yes the Gurus did carry Kirpaans (to my knowledge) The bodies of the Gurus are the continuation of the Jyot of Guru Nanak.... the message of Guru Nanak was progressively revealed through the ten saroops.... the Sixth Nanak introduced the wearing of the Siri Sahib into practice... all Gurus following on would walk forwards and reveal the message of Guru Nanak further. So in technicality - yes they would have carried a sword. Whether you see this in pictures = doesn't matter! Pictures of Gurus = mere depictions! Udhaa, we should be careful and cautious of not getting too involved or caught up in depictions of Guru Sahib (yes they are great in showing history but be careful coz they are an artist's impression and intrepretation). Some pics of an artist's impression of the Guru Sahibaans: First pic = depiction of Guru Har Krishan Sahib Ji visiting and curing the inhabitatns of Delhi. Guru Sahib opened dispensaries (health centres) and cared for the sick and needy through medicines and power of love and compassion. Second pic = depiction of Guru Har Rai Sahib Ji in the Gardens of Kiratpur Sahib - Guru Sahib loved and cared for the environment and built gardens and planted flowers stuff.
  19. <_< Mehtab Singh Paaji !!! Fantastic suggestion! :TH:
  20. All my family cut their hair. My dad (though a mona) he would make sure to involve me in the Gurdwara. ... he taught a shabad to sing at the Gurdwara .... on Gurpurbs I used to get a pagh tied on my head by my dad or a relative ... i used to enjoy small sewa at Gurdwara like givin out tissues (for parshaad), cleanin shoes or givin out langar I would always love to listen to Giani Jis and elders. But people used to say "Go outside and play, you dont want to hear grown-ups talk." but I did!!! I would look around at all the Singhs and Singhian and kids with kesh and feel upset and sad that I didnt look like them nor be part of them. Hearing Saakhis of the Gurus I thought where am I and where is Sikhi. Since the age of 5 (or whenever i cud think for myself) i always wanted to have kesh. At age of 15 I got enough courage to keep kesh (despite people not wanting me to - i.e. family and relatives). I was unfortunate that there are no Amritdhari or Saadh Sangat in my local town. But travelling to SOuthall or Birmingham I would love just the sight of Singh or Singhnian. Reading books, Sangat through internet and learning stuff from my dad and the love & support of my mum... i got more and more into Sikhi. I couldn't resist but give my head to Guru Ji... again family and relatives sed, "take amrit after marriage, we want to drink sharaab at your wedding" "17 yrs old is too young to take Amrit" one relative sed, "live life first" My life was Sikhi and I was dead until I took Amrit and took birth in the House of Guru ji. bhul chuk maaf
  21. Narinder Singh Grewal claimed himself to be Guru Gobind Singh Ji incarnation. He did mis-deeds with the wives of his followers. He later asked for forgiveness from the Panj Pyaare in the hazoori of the Saadh Sangat and GurU Granth Sahib Ji. The Panj Pyaare and Sangat did not pardon him because he did not answer the Panj Pyaare's questions (relating to his mis-deeds) properly. http://www.sikhtimes.com/news_062603a.html http://www.sanjhsavera.com/gurudum.html
  22. Ninth Guru's Name was always "Tegh Bahadar" Guru Sahib's parents were the sixth Guru - antarjaamee - Guru Sahib didn't need a war to know that his son would be good at weilding his sword. GurU Sahib named ninth Nanak "Tegh Bahadar" as a child.
