  1. Vaheguru ji ka Khalsa. Vaheguru ji ki Fateh.

Sikh Channel will have a special broadcast premiere of "Rise of the Khalsa" movie by Vismaad productions tomorrow (Thursday 25th June 2009) at 7pm to commemorate the Shaheedi Day of Baba Bandha Singh Bahadur.

Please encourage everyone you know to watch - including younger brothers/ sisters/ cousins/ etc.

    Thank you

    Sikh Channel

  2. I tell you something, some 5 year olds out there know more about Sikhi than some adults i know. My point? Sikh Channel isnt trying to educate those who already know about Sikhi -- it wouldnt make sense. Our aim is to educate those who dont know what Sikhi is about. Who dont even know what the word Sikh means. We do have some great in-depth shows aimed at the older generation - what we have asked of Bhai Amardeep Singh and Bhai Butta Singh is to cater for those with very little knowledge and explain it in the simplest terms. Bhai Butta Singh and Bhai Amardeep Singh have been working with those either new into Sikhi or those who are very young of age. Therefore, its natural to ask them to aim their shows for that particular audience.

Thank you for your suggestions and feedback. Please visit www.sikhchannel.tv where we take feedback for the shows via a small online forum.

  4. Singh#, please come and see us in person. When you start donating £10,000 a month to us to run the channel, we will stop the ads at the bottom of the screen. Its easy to sit behind a screen all day on a forum - but all it takes is for you to come down and meet with us. Please contact me to arrange an appointment and we can come to some agreement and you can help us raise the funds in other ways.

Thank you to all else for your support.

  5. The executive commitee at the Sikh Channel have been discussing this issue for a couple of weeks - there have been various reasons as to why it has taken a little bit longer than we had hoped to sort this issue out. As a result of these discussions, Naamdharis have been banned from appearing on air. Raj Academy have been informed of this decision and have agreed to comply by this ruling.

Sikh Channel could you clarify the above statement? Have Naamdhari's been banned from merely appearing in the camera shot (in which case they will still be in there in the studio sitting alongside that 'Professor') or have they been banned from coming full stop.

If it's the latter then I would say well done for finally resolving this issue. However, if it's a case of not putting them in the shot but they would still be there; then that is not good enough.

As the SIKH Channel it is your obligation to uphold Gurmat principles. Allowing people who follow a Dehdaari, self-proclaimed Guru to do kirtan in the studio is not acceptable.

I hope you will clarify your stance on this issue as it has gone on for long enough now and the Sangat deserve an explanation.

Naamdharis have been banned from the stage fullstop.

  6. We dont have the time to sit on forums answering questions all day unfortunately. We are already short of sevadars, which is disheartening when we see so many Singhs and Singhnia from our local area spending most their time on forums rather than being proactive and actually coming down and volunteering to help us out.

If anyone wants to discuss our policies or any of the issues any further, you can message me and we will arrange a meeting with the station executive panel for you to air your concerns. Thank you.

As a result of these discussions, Naamdharis have been banned from appearing on air. Raj Academy have been informed of this decision and have agreed to comply by this ruling.

We know it may not please everyone, but the Sikh Channel took the step that anyone associated with groups or sects that go against the belief that Guru Granth Sahib Jee is the living Guru of the Sikhs or who may have betrayed our Guru in the past will not be allowed on air.

We ask you all to support us in this decision and hope we can now let this issue rest and continue spreading the Word of Gurbani far and wide using this popular media format.

Please note, Naamdharis are not the only ones who have been banned under this ruling - Meene, Masand, Ram Raieeay, Dhir Maleeay and Gangu Shaheeay have also been banned along with others at our discretion.

The Sikh Channel reserves the right to refuse guests any air time at any time.

A request to admin / mods to now close this thread.
