  1. I've noticed majority of the sikhs wear their Kara on right hand Side... and I also noticed that Amritdhari people have their Kirpan over their right shoulder goin to their left hip.. not the other way around... Any specific reason for that ???

  2. i heard the sikhs said no to khalistan after getting independance from england. they said they would like to stick with the rest of india like brothers. i think we need more land for sure but i'm not sure about what the separate government plans to change

  3. one of the teachers at khalsa school said people shouldnt celebrate bdays cause its like celebrating that ur closer to death. i dont really believe that though. u can choose to look at it that way but u dont have to. i dont do anything as big as i used to for my bday anymore though. but everyone deserves a special day

  4. Happy Birthday Gursimar,

I was like, ohmy.gif so many Birthdays in August and no chah samosa?

So i asked my mum to make some Samosas , and someone brought some sweets to hour house cos their son just got marrid. So i was like yaayyy Samoses and Gulabjamun, wah wahh wah. Lets celebrate Gursimar's bday.

haha we always need an excuse to celebrate rolleyes.gif

  5. so jassika cant be considered a sikh name? the way son of guru gobind singh made out a meaning makes sense to me. names really dont say a lot about a person anyways. dont u guys know people with really meaningful sikh names that arnt even into sikhism a bit? theres even a bunch of guys with pugs and keep all their hair but do all the bad things. people try to judge others by their appearance and things but that really doesnt work until u get to know the person

  6. hmm...

i duno.. i think names need to be chosen from gurbani.. its kind of an important sikh tradition.. not really anything to do with culture or punjabis etc.. i think choosing ur name from guru sahib gives you a special link to guru sahib.. you get reminded of him when ur name is called etc..

yea i guess that reminder would be a plus but lots of people with sikh names arent even into sikhism and besides there many other things that can remind u of the guru like ur kara. i dont think a name matters too much because it actually changes ur meaning of the word by reffering to a person with it

  7. jassika:

if it bothers you, and it changes how you feel about yourself, either don't let it, or go ahead and change it, so that you're comfortable and so that it doesn't bother you. that's most important in the end, if you can be comfortable with every aspect of your life.

no it doesnt bother me the least bit anymore thanks to this awesome forum B)
