  1. and let me mention one thing..........we paapi are not capable of meeting with guru maharaj..........only sant or gurmukh babe can hold ur hand ...and move you forward on this path.............without sant ang gurmukh babe u'll lost somewhere in between....dats for sure

What kind of ridiculous statement is this?!

Guru Nanak Dev Jee freed us from this middleman ideology. A Gursikh needs NO ONE else aside from Satguru to get to Sach Khand. Sant, Mahapurskh etc should only be seen as inspiration and not some type of special middle man that will get us to Sach Khand.

  2. VJKK VJKF...

We are very sorry if you feel there has been a drop of quality with your latest order. We are however using mostly the same suppliers we did when we started and some items such as the Kanga are from our original bulk purchases from when we started up. Every time we order more stock, we ask our partner in Amritsar to try and find even better quality items then we had before and we have never focused on price. A prime example of this is some Gatras we received once, we were slightly unhappy with the quality after using them personally as they got 'burr' on them very quick. Because of this we did not sell them them and we have a box full lying to one side.

We started www.SikhiStore.com out of a need we had ourselves in finding Sikhi Items and I can assure you that we still do and always will focus on quality and prompt customer service. This is about offering a great service and not about making money. In fact since we have started, not a single penny profit has been taken out, nobody is paid for the work and all money has gone back into more stock and more variety of items.

We have had a lot of advice from the Sangat in the past and none of it goes unheard. We are always happy to hear it and we do our best to act upon it. We want every Bhaji/Bhenji who uses SikhiStore to be 100% satisfied :)

Where are you guys based in. Do you ship to canada

  3. Waheguru ji ka khalsa, Waheguru ji ki fateh

Can someone tell me what is the real meaning of bibek? Besides diet.

A good book to read about this would be Gurmat Bibek by Bhai Sahib Bhai Randhir Singh. He goes into all the different types of Bibek. Simran Bibek and Rehat Bibek. Out of which Sarbloh Bibek is one, others are Amritvela, Ishnaan, Dasvandh etc.

  4. Bibek Rehat is not the rehat of the Guru, because you are judging someone's "pureness" simply by whether or not they have drank Amrit. You aren't taking into account what is in their heart, or the actions they take.

Amrit has no special powers to cleanse your sins, nor does it prevent you from committing future sins. It isn't a get out of jail card nor is it a free ticket to mukti. You still have to work for your kamai.

You can be an amritdhari and an awful human being at the same time. I've met plenty.

Even if all amritdharis were pure and all non-amritdharis were full of sin, it wouldn't affect your kamai to eat from them. You are treating them like untouchables.

No one here has been able to explain how Bibek has benefitted them. Does anyone here even keep Bibek?

What benefit have you obtained from abstaining from non-amritdhari food and "jhootah". How has it helped your kamai?

I too don't think or agree that this is true gurmat practice.

''Judging'' is NOT gurmat in an regard.

The ONLY person you should judge according to Gurmat is YOURSELF. (from my understanding)

AND in this aspect you SHOULD JUDGE yourself as THE LOWEST!

    This is the REAL JUDGE

    ਨਾਨਕ ਪਰਖੇ ਆਪ ਕਉ ਤਾ ਪਾਰਖੁ ਜਾਣੁ ॥

Nānak parkẖe āp ka▫o ṯā pārakẖ jāṇ.

O Nanak, if someone judges himself, only then is he known as a real judge

It`s not about judging anyone, its just following Guru Sahib`s hukam. If you guys still don`t think its according to Gurmat, then we can just agree to disagree.

One of my favourite lines from Rehatnamai about Bibek is:

    ਜਾਕੀ ਰਹਿਤ ਨ ਜਾਣੀਐ ਗੁਰਮੰਤ੍ਰ ਨਹੀ ਚੀਤ ||

    ਉਨਕਾ ਭੋਜਨ ਖਾਇਕੈ ਬਿਸਰਹਿ ਹਰਿ ਸਿਉ ਪ੍ਰੀਤ ||

“One who has no Rehit (discipline) and does not meditate on the Gurmantar (given by the Panj Pyaare when one receives khande-di-pahul); If you eat their food, you will loose the love for God.”

    (Rehitnama Bhai Chaupa Singh)

I would recommend you guys read these:

  5. I don't understand how bibek rehit can make it easier to control 5 vices, when bibek itself is a contributer to 'haumai' and ego.!!

You can say taking Amrit contributes to Ego as well, as you start to think you're better than those that haven't taken Amrit. So should one not talk Amrit in order to keep away from Ego?

Dont blame the rehat, blame the individual who has the Ego after keeping Rehat. It is not such an easy thing to control the 5 chhor. Just taking amrit and keeeping rehat is going to turn on an automatic switch that will get rid of them. It takes a lot of Naam Abhiaas and Gurbani Paat to control them.

  6. But veer ji, can't someone adopt rehat without taking Amrit?

Forsaking food from non-amritdharis is not the rehat of Guru Sahib.

Do you keep full Bibek? Can you explain what blessings you have received?

Why is keeping Bibek Rehat not the rehat of the Guru?

Can someone kindly explain how bibek practice is pure gurmat and that it doesn't fuel haumai in any way ??

    I'm being serious!!

    Read this:

  7. Those that follow Bibek shouldn't call those that don't Dhillay Sikhs, and those that don't follow Bibek shouldn't call those that do Bahmans regardless of how strict they are (there are exceptions when someone follows some "rehat" without any reason). It is accepted by all Dals, Jathas, Taksals, etc. that Bibek is not against Sikhi principles and Gurmat. If you need evidence then it can be provided, just ask me.

My personal opinon is that Bibek is a must and all Gursikhs should keep it, but I'm not going to oppose my opinions on anyone, as I could be wrong. Just as I won't oppose my views about Raagmala, Keski etc on other Gursikhs. We really need to learn to move past these differences and not hate others for having differing views ( I need to work on myself on this as well, I'm not saying I'm perfect) otherwise we won't be able to make Sikhi grow and reach its potential. Look how beautiful Gurmat is, if we just did Parchar together by holding Hands with each other regardless of differences instead of fighting with each other then we could get thousands of people to join Sikhi and take Amrit and become Khalsai.

Im still not sure i understand bibek but ive learned it depends on the individual keeping it and what their interpretation of it is. From being 100% against it im now 50-50 as I try to understand why people keep it. Although some people definitely take it over the top and thats when accusations of Bhaman-vaad start flying around.

The following situation always comes to mind when talking about this subject

I was attending a function where there were Amritdharis and non-Amritdharis alike and the food was being served by Amritdharis, naturally. After finishing my food my empty tray was on the table , some Amritdharis sat down to eat, one had a drink poured for themselves and it ever so slightly touched my empty tray and they refused to drink it as if it had now been tainted or poisoned in some way.

I was quite shocked and it actually made me feel quite down. I felt worthless.

My point is other peoples empty trays had been right where the glass was, droplets of food had been spilled there, they could well have been from a used tray.

I know what jhooth is but what was this??

What makes this situation go against bibek??

What was now wrong with the drink??

Can you go into more details? What table did you put your empty tray on? If it was a table where all the joothai bhandai go then why was this Gursikh putting his clean cup on there in the first place? This is common sense you don't put clean bhandai on dirty surfaces. Or were you eating on a table?

  8. http://www.sikh24.com/2012/12/sikh-youth-slate-wins-landslide-victory-in-surreydelta-gurdwara-elections/#.UM-N9OR9Lfc

VANCOUVER, BC, Canada (December 17, 2012)–In an unexpected turn of events, the Sikh Youth slate running in the elections at Guru Nanak Sikh Gurdwara won a resounding landslide victory against their “moderate” opponents.
The election represents a complete reversal from the period between 1997 and 2008 when the “moderate” committee of the Gurdwara was considered unassailable, racking up huge victories in elections.
In 2008, Panthic Gursikhs decided to make one more effort to unseat the “moderate” committee which had never organized an amrit sanchaar at the Gurdwara and which openly and proudly defied Akal Takht Maryada on the issue of tables and chairs in the langar hall.
Since then, the Sikh Youth slate has racked up 3 election victories (although the first one was invalidated by the courts for technical reasons), with each successive victory proving bigger than the last.
Bhai Rajinder Singh Dhaliwal is the incoming president of the Gurdwara Sahib and he along with his committee have pledged to carry on the work started by the current committee, which has placed a special emphasis on making the Gurdwara Sahib more accommodating towards youth.
  9. Thank you Singhg

That was very informative and useful for me.

I have only been here from UK for last couple of years and I've not really been to this Gurdwara much as I normally attend one near to where we live.

Because of these politics of elections and voting as it is a public gurdwara unlike most of the others here, I have also been inclined to not get too involved because as you know settling in takes a while.

However, what I did find surprising was that you may only vote if youare a paid member of the gurdwara!

I find this rather unusual because we never had such things back in UK where also the majority are public gurdwaras. Perhaps you could shed some light and explaination on this to help me and others understand a little better.

The membership fee was introduced by the Moderates for God knows what.

The Singhs have kept it now to pay for Construction of the Gurdwara. A lot of money is needed to pay for the construction of the Gurdwara. After the Singhs took control of the Gurdwara the Sangat grew so large that a bigger Darbar was needed!

  10. Great post singhg veer ji, hope sikh youth slate wins..what do you reckon? you think they will win like last time? or close call?

In my opinion I think Sikh Youth have a good chance of winning as its clear to everyone what they have done in the past three years. However you never know what might happen. The Moderates have been spreading a lot of lies and rumours to and are misguiding innocent voters, but I am still confident the Panthic Slate will win. It will be a huge shock to them lose.

Elections are happening tomorrow 8 am to 8 pm at PM Secondary School all members are urged to go and vote for the Sikh Youth Slate led by Bhai Rajinder Singh.

Neo Singh about your question about Bhai Bikramjit Singh, he has done lots of seva not just in terms of being in committees but other seva including 5 Pyare seva. He is stepping down from his position as President and wants to focus on personal sikhi jeevan. He is still very involved in the campaign and elections.

  11. Now that's just silly. Imagine having a weapon like that.

If our shastar were like that we wouldn't have puratan shastar with us today. Guru Sahib's shastar were mostly made of wootz steel sarbloh.

I'm thinking some shop keeper made up that original sarbloh is the one that rusts as a gimmick. I remember reading a psychology book how you can end up selling a low end product for more by claiming it's "special". The U.S. steel baron Andrew Carnegie did a similar thing by making up some stuff about his lower quality steel somehow being better than his competitors. Consumers were dumb enough to believe it so they ended up paying more for his low quality steel haha.

Btw - all steel eventually rusts. What's the mathematical equation that defines sarbloh and rust time frame?

I went to Patiala Dukhniwaran Sahib and was looking for puratan shastar. The cheeky shop keeper took me to the back where the paiye were making shastar and he showed me a pure iron (or as you would call sarbloh) weapon that was completely filled with rust. He probably dug it into the ground for months and thought he could fool people by it lol.

There's a reason why puratan shastar that Sikhs used are still around today.

I was thinking more for Bhande and Kirpan for doing Bhog to Degh. I don't have any knowledge about puratan shastars.
