  1. I am a member of the sangat and I'm quite positive this is not the case. I don't believe it is entirely fair that a list is based solely out of date information on the internet. I will indeed fix this. I am a firm supported that Gurdwara's should be enterprising and look at all ethical and morally acceptable means under Sikh values to generate finance. It is certainly better that money is not just spent on items that may depreciate in value, but is invested to ensure further revenues can be generated for the gurdwara / charity. All generated finance MUST be ethically and morally generated. Of course - Party Halls are not morally acceptable under our values.
  2. WJKK WJKF I would like to clairfy that the following Gurdwara is not funded by the Telford Cultural Community Centre. Guru Nanak Gurdwara 1 Hadley Park Road, Hadley, Telford, Shropshire TF1 6PW 01952 411730 We have been part of the sangat at this Gurdwara for the past 20 years. The Telford Cultural Community Centre was largely funded (if not wholly) by the Sikh Community in Telford. Part of the funding was a local government grant. The Sikh Community therefore adopted the community centre as it's own, however it's original conception was to serve ALL minority communities in Telford. For many years the Guru Nanak Gurdwara was mentioned on the signage for the Community Centre - "part of the Guru Nanak Gurdwara Telford". This association was removed about 5 years ago, and has no connection to the Gurdwara itself and I believe was just a symbolic reference to the Sikh Community raising the funds. I can not confirm if during this period any profits from the Community Centre were ever redirected towards the Gurdwara. However, I would like to give them the benefit of the doubt and say no. It was always a community funded project, and I am quite positive any profits could only be redirected back into the Community Centre itself - like I said, I'm unable to confirm this. Therefore - can you please remove the Guru Nanak Gurdwara Telford from your list please - as this association hasn't been the case for a while now. WJKK WJKF
