  1. Waheguroo Jee Ka Khalsa!

    Waheguroo Jee Kee Fateh!!

i checked with my doctor and he said it is perfectly fine to be vegi ...AND that vegis live longer and eat food which is healthy too! so do not be afraid! :D )

another thing......if someone likes to change their diet from meat to vegetables (as i am doing day by day.....i was meat eater...and now after getting some info from AKJers i am on my way) there are some things that u need to do:

that thing is that there are some vitamins and some stuff like that which is a lot in meat.....AND that can also be found in vegis.....here is a list of how this can be done:

    PROTEINS:

    - eat a lot of milk products (lassi, dud, dahin, makhan, paneer)

    - corn procducts (makki di rotti...kanak di rotti....i do not think we got problems here)

    - a lot of nuts (kajoor, badaam, kaajoo,so on)

    - use soya also (it reduces cancer and heart disease...remember Punjabi-Sikhs have a LOT of probs with dill-dian-bimarian)

    IRON:

    - bread and other corn products

    CALCIUM:

    - soya milk

    - white bread

    B12-VITAMINS: daily need = 2-3 micrograms

    - milk

    - cheese

    - green vegis

[it is very important.....can give u lack of red blood cells..or something]

    other Vitamins:

check sister Parmjoat Kaur's post....very good!

u may also take some tablets if there is a sudden need....

:T: so be vegis! it is BETTER.....health vise....

    Waheguroo Jee Kee Fateh!!

    Hello fellow Sikhs,

if there is any Singh/Singhnee from Damdami Taksal here or others who know this can also answar...

i need some info about Damdami Taksal....i know that they have HQ at Mehta, Amritsar Dist. but i like to know

    - what is the name of their Gurdwara? if there is one which is completely run by Damdami Taksal fellows?

    - who is incharge there?

    - can i go their and study Sikhism? like how old should a person be? can i be over 40 when i start there or was it better to start when i was 12?

    - is there any place in Europe where i can study? or is it better to do it in Amritsar?

    - are their other Jatheh (like AKJ, Taruna Dal, so on) which have similar "Gurmat teaching centers"? is so.....give some info about them...like the question above for Damdami Taksal...

    Deep...

    thanx guys...

  3. Waheguroo Jee Ka Khalsa!

    Waheguroo Jee Kee Fateh!!

We all know that 'bhang' drink is used by some Nihangs, however officially both Budha Tal and Taruna Dal have said that it is against Gurmat and they will 'punish' the fake Nihangs who use it and act like real Nihangs.....

anyway, i recently found out the reason why some of these guys use it:

they say it is written in Dasam Granth! ohmy.gif

now i have not read Dasam Granth...so if any one know of this....and in which context it is written, plz help me out!

i am fully aware of the fact that it is not allowed, but why is it written in Dasam Granth about it? :T:

  4. ^_^

    Veer Amardeep

i just said that what ever you like to do.....make it clear that it is accepted by the whole Panth...so that in the future....we would not be fighting over this too! so it would be better if your Gurdwara contacted Akal Takht admins and ask if it is within the laws passed by the Panth that you are allowed to do as you like.....

if not, then let us just encourage sikh girls to start coming to Gurdwara kitchen and do washing utensils seva...which is okey for non-Amritdhari....i hope kids know of Langar...and i hope they do not refuse to wash the plates and so on....that is not a big deal is it?

any way, Good luck with the campaign to indulge kids in community matters....

    Deep...

  5. Waheguroo Jee Ka Khalsa!

    Waheguroo Jee Kee Fateh!!

    Veerjee Vicky,

i think it has to do with SAD (Badal) and SHSAD (Tohra group) getting together in Akali Dal...and perhaps Badal whose party controls SGPC wants to make Tohra happy by giving him the position as president their...or someone else from his party.......

i think the Jathedar Vedanti and some others too would be going soon cause they are over 60! and accroding to Sikh Gurdwara Act (?) only folks under 60 can be in the Gurdwara administration..... :D )

but if you ask me....it think it is ALL Badal politics.... :D

    Hardliner Fazlur Rahman in India

    http://www.tribuneindia.com/2003/20030716/main5.htm

    Varinder Walia And Neeraj Bagga

    Wagah (Amritsar), July 15

Four-member delegation of the Mutahida-e-Majlis-e-Amal (MMA) led by Maulana Fazlur Rahman, secretary-general of the Jamat Ulema Islami (Fazlur), which entered India through the Wagah joint check post here today said that bilateral issues between both countries should be resolved without the third party intervention.

This is for the first time that the radical leaders from Pakistan who had won good number of seats in the National Assembly during the recently held elections have declared their intentions for a dialogue for amicable settlement with India. The other three members of the delegation are Maulana Hafiz Husan Ahmad, Gul Nasib Khan and Qazi Hamid Ullah. The delegation has come here on four-day visit on the invitation of the Jamiat Ulema-I-Hind.

Later, the members of the delegation were honoured by Giani Joginder Singh Vedanti, Jathedar, Akal Takht. Earlier, they paid obeisance at the Golden Temple.

Hardliner Maulana Fazlur Rahman, who could not become Prime Minister of Pakistan due to shortage of a few seats in the last year’s election, said that following the 9/11 attack on the World Trade Center in America fresh alignments in the world were forged resulting in the emergence of new world order. It is the first ever visit of Ulemas (religious leaders) of Pakistan to this country. It is also for the first time that leaders of a radi

cal party of Pakistan had sought to resolve issues between the two countries without the intervention of third party, particularly America.

A delegation of the Jamiat Ulema-I-Hind (JUH) led by Mahmud Madani welcomed the delegation at Wagah check post. Mr Madani said it was an effort from the JUH to facilitate the people of both countries to talk. He said the JUH had sought time from Prime Minister A.B. Vajpayee and leader of the Opposition, Ms Sonia Gandhi, for a meeting with the Pakistani delegation.

Despite repeated queries by mediapersons, they said “don’t ask contentious questions” which could strain relations between the two neighbouring countries. On the Kargil conflict, they said, let the past be buried and start a new chapter of friendship with positive frame of mind.

  7. on So GGS's post:

    Veer.....true indeed!

therefore Panthic leaders should also look into Rehitnameh to justify their points, like should we cook food at home.....can it be justified from Rehitnameh? offcourse not. Bhajee has given a good answar...

    ^_^

  8. :D )

    Veerjee....

    jepp u r rite....

therefore we have got something called the decision of the Guru Khalsa Panth.....

if about a week...there was a Sarbat Khalsa gathering held at Sri Amritsar Sahib, where Panthic issues are discussed and views (based 'real true' Sikhi) are presented and that our whole community agrees that:

    (i) Women can also do seva [which i think already is suggested by Panthic Organizations and Panthic leaders...it is just the 'sevadaars' at Darbar Sahib who are not following the rules set by SGPC and Akal Takht...and THEY should be questioned...secondly, a meeting was held to discuss this issue for 2-3 months ago AND SGPC has not given any info abuot what-so-ever about what was decieded there.. B) ]

(ii) that at local Gurdwaras, like at places where the Sikh community is small and by "sharing the home-made food" Sikhs get closer to each other and kids learn to indulge in community stuff...AND the Rehit is followed that NO HOME WHERE alcohol, smoking, abuse, so on is done shall participate in the event....if so; Khalsa Panth as whole says it is okey...

    if that is the matter;

yepp i will say it is OKEY that Nanaksar Gurdwara wale can do it....

because the community as a whole has decieded that it is not a Kurehit (undisicplined act).... :T:

so really IN ALL such matters....whether the Gurdwara has 50 or 50 000 members..they should contact Sri Akal Takht which is as i said nothing else but a representetive of Khalsa Panth.....and they should get permission in all "new" matters that might be something new to the rehit.....this would avoid the making of cults...and panthic disunity... wubb.gif hope u get that i am not against the act of doing it....just that if it is accepted by Khalsa Panth as a "good thing to do" it is totaly fine with me!

  9. Waheguroo Jee Ka Khalsa!

    Waheguroo Jee Kee Fateh!!

Will kids be interested in Sikhi by doing so?

    Maybe...it will

but i think there is no Sikh kid who does not know that Langar is a part of Sikhi....will they learn anything new by cooking it themselves.....SURE they will learn how do indulge in community activities...AND that is what we need now! that Sikh kids...are SIKHS! but really guys.....I can not support it! because i am the kind of person who always says 'Stict to the tradition!' 'never do anything in new way' 'do it just like folks before us did' SURE that will make it a ritual and like that is not the way Sikhi is.....

BUT do not you think if some GDs serve food made at GDs and others some other way....would it in a way create the first step towards making a cult and the nest thing you now..ppl are fighting about how certains Jathey are SO indulged in their 'backward' Rehit...it WILL not make Panthic Unity...for that!

SO just follow the traditional Rehit....and the ways as things are done before....and follow commandments (Hukamnameh and Gurmatas) passed by Guru Khalsa Panth [which is represented by Sri Akal Takht Sahib and other Takhts]....

and surely there are other ways to propagate Sikhi among Sikh kids.....like make Rap-based Dhadi Jatheh! like Immortal Shaheedi....and so on...

tell them their history and the great philosophy (i mean Gurmat/thaughts of Gurus about God and the world) that Gurus shared with us....

Deep...so i guess i support Khalsa, Mkhalsa, Vicky, Gursimar and other Veerjee and Bhainjees...

  12. Veer jeo.....

i was just kidding about the I. Gandhi stuff...... ohmy.gif

like i just meant: he has not heard the normal propaganda that the media presents.....? that never trust a sikh bodyguard...

same goes for the Queen in Inglaaand she has ALSO sikh body guards....this just proves that SIKHs even after Gandhi's assis. could be trusted AND that world knows this!

yeah Vicky Veer, u r rite....hard work IS important.

  13. I think that You guys don't need vitamin pills if u r like under 30 or something.. Go for the old fashion way.. Eat SAAG lots of em.... and all those green green sabjeeyaa/salads and so called *yucky* stuff for teens..

  14. Here are some things i can think of:

    - something about Anglo-Sikh wars...and Sikh Kingdom in Punjab

(here good to have something about King Dalip Singh)

    - Basic Gurmat principles: equality, love, sharing, prayer, so on....

    - Interviews of Gursikhs who are good proffessionals....to set a good example

    - something about our Military past AND PRESENT! like something about Gatka/ Shastar Vidya...

    - Some thing about Sri Guru Granth Sahib Jee.....it's making and value for Sikhs

    - Rehitnamas...and the importance of this DISCIPLINE that Sikhs follow.

    - How can the teachings of Sikh Gurus be used to create harmony in our society? like how can we live in a multicultural society withour hating each other.........i think Sikhism says a lot of this.

that is all i can think of rite now.......would be back soon!

    Deep....
