  2. Sat Shri Akal....my dear brothers/sisters...

I really respect the Hukam by Akal Takht....and never come in debate about this. However i only gave a list of books on SDGS, JUST FOR INFORMATION...which is the sub-title of this topic....

Recently, i have been recieving mails by Dr. Kanwar Ranvir Singh about the CONTENTS of SDGS, since i am a member of a gurmat group; Learning Zone @ yahoo... He does not try to say whether SDGS is written by Sri Guru Gobind Singh or not..but just gives INFORMATION about it's contents. It is a very large bulk of mails; and very detailed....if someone is interested please send me a mail [through sikhsangat.com or here: manudeep_singh@yahoo.no] and i will forward all of them to you as soon as i can collect all of them...very interesting reading.

if someone wants me to paste them here on Sikhsangat.com, i will do so, but it would be best to recieve through E-mail, since we were just going to lock this topic here..and i would not start any new debate around this here....

  5. SSA,

recently i have been reading SGGS.....

    and i have been think of this for a long time now;

how is the SGGS organised....yes in 3 parts; 1) Japji, So Dar, Sohila 2) 31 Rags 3)Shaloka, Mundavani and Rag Mala....but how is numbering system?

After some verses there are a lot of numbers; and it looks like it a counting over the recent Stanzas or Parts....could someone please explain how this is organised? i read that it is 'computerised' system or in other words very mathematically correct....but i have not understood it yet, cause i have not read SGGS alot....always been readen from parts; like i read some Phaths/Banis and then stop....but now i am reading from Start to End...and i noticed this 'numbering'.

Is there any good site or a article about this? I will be happy if someone here could help out...

    Thanks,

    Your Veer,

    Deep ^_^

Healing touch in date with Sikhs

    K.P. NAYAR

    Advani

Vancouver, June 18: Deputy Prime Minister .K. Advani’s just-concluded visit to the US may speed up a healing process, ending one of the longest schisms among the Indian community in North America which led to the terrorist bombing of an Air-India plane 18 years ago.

On the penultimate day of his stay in the US, Advani met a group of 10 prominent Sikhs from the Canadian province of British Columbia and several leaders of the Sikh community in the US.

The meeting came at the initiative of B.K. Agnihotri, India’s ambassador at large for non-resident Indians (NRIs) and persons of Indian origin (PIOs).

It was not listed among the deputy Prime Minister’s engagements but was attended by K.P. Singh, the director of the Intelligence Bureau, and Union home secretary . Gopalaswamy.

Indian intelligence officials said the Sangh parivar and the Sikh community in North America have been working together in recent months to bring Khalistani elements back into India’s mainstream after a gap of nearly two decades following Operation Bluestar in the Golden Temple in Amritsar. As a result, moderate Sikhs have regained control of several gurdwaras in British Columbia, which were managed by Khalistanis and were funding extremists in Punjab.

Indian intelligence sources said the events of September 11, 2001 in New York and Washington and the ongoing trial here of terrorists w

ho plotted the Air-India bombing in 1985 had created an atmosphere that made a rapprochement between Sikhs and the rest of the Indian community in North America possible.

In the US, too, many Sikh organisations have recently reverted to moderate control but one of the biggest gurdwaras in the country, in Silver Spring, on the outskirts of Washington, remains in pro-Khalistani hands.

No Indian ambassador to the US has visited a gurdwara since Operation Bluestar, but recently other Indian diplomats have begun attending events at Sikh cultural organisations.

Lalit Mansingh, India’s ambassador to the US, last year hosted a function at his residence to mark the birth anniversary of Guru Nanak, an event that is expected to be repeated annually.

In Canada, the country’s intelligence officials feel confident that the threat to Indian interests, which used to be “severe”, has significantly come down in recent months.

Advani told community leaders who met him that Sikhs have been the sartaj or crown of the Indian nation and will continue to be so. Canadian and American Sikhs told Advani that they were looking forward to “positive” relations with India and wanted him to facilitate this.

They sought a review of the “blacklist” of suspected Khalistani terrorists in North America so that Sikhs on this continent could freely travel to India.

Among their other demands was a pardon for D.S. Bhullar, who has been sentenced to death on terrorism charges and lodged in New Delhi’s Tihar jail, an increase in the number of Sikhs in the Indian Army, pardon for army deserters after Operation Bluestar and release of all Sikhs in detention in Indian jails under counter-terrorism laws.

Agnihotri, who attended the meeting, said Advani gave no commitment on the demands, but gave the delegation a full hearing. He described the meeting as “emotional”, with delegate after delegate expressing the need for better relations between Sikhs and other communities in India.

    Indian intelligen

ce officials said hate crimes against Sikhs in the US was a factor that had turned extremists in the community to India seeking protection and assurances of support from New Delhi.

AND GREAT IDEA ABOUT SINGHKAZZA... ^_^

  10. Fateh....Learner Singh ji.... ^_^

No i do not think Sikhs hate Hindus (or muslims, etc )....i believe it would be un-sikh to do so....a Gursikh should see the Light of God in all, so it would not be good to hate them....

we should not hate our enemies either...just hate their deeds...

Waheguru ji ka Khalsa Waheguru ji ki Fateh

  11. Sat Shri Akal.....

this might not be a 'sikh' topic but anyway i am posting it here cause i saw a program on Tv about working women (20 - 35) who have small kids and how hard it is to take care of them....

So my question is; whether it is better for a sikh/non-sikh women to work or be a housewife? what about men? and their role? no hard feelings against sikh women..i invite u to a interesting topic....

ppl. forgive me if i say anthing wrong on this one...i am just 18 and not married yet.....

  12. ^_^

It all comes down to the age-old debate of modernists vs traditionalists......

on one side u have MKhalsa ji holding their views about MahaPurash Sikhs, and how they have seen God....while on the other side v got Learner Singh ji who is posting a reply with quotes from a book by Daljeet Singh...from Institute of Sikh Studies, Chandigarh..and NO DOUTE a modernist....i have read some articles/books by this gentleman and surely the guy does not like our Mahapurshs... rolleyes.gif

any way i just like to add that Daljeet Singh does not believe in Dasam Granth (or other 'sikhs writings'), and just and just in SGGS, perhaps also Bhai Gurdas' writings...any way it is pretty clear that he does not get the incarnation teory....

    My views:

    1) Yes, i belive in reincarnation...that our souls from one body to other AFTER DEATH...not before...

    2) God can not 'be born' in a human body....no incarnation or Godly Avatarhood here...

    3) However if u guys now DG..there is a talk about the 24 avatar of Krishn.....DO I BELIEVE IN HINDU GODS SINCE DG MENTIONS THEM? well, guys DG does not tell us that these 'gods' were incarnations of God, but about what they did..like heroes and stuff.. and i believe that these 'gods' were no more than Bhagats or devoted themselves to God, and therefore i have respect for them, BUT DO TO

WORSHIP THERE PHOTOS OR STUFF LIKE THAT....they were incarnations of a guy called Krishn, not of God! therefore no Godly Avatarhood here too...

    4) Now, if u r with me..i say that i believe in Reincarnation of human soul after death (if we have not "merged in God")...but God does not come as a human...but Bhagats can have several births or a linked soul...like the same jot as Gurus had...only to enlighten human on God's Path.....WOULD BHINDRAWALE OR OTHER GREAT BHAGATS/SOULS OR EVEN GURUJI COME BACK AS HUMANS TO SERVE GOD, AND SHOW US THE ROAD? why do we forget that God does not need to send any new 'prophets' or 'incarnation of former bhagats'..CAUSE WE GOT SGGS..which is the final JOT of Gurus and the connection between us and Akal Purakh...get it?so no bhindrwale or others would not come....for this reason...

    5) What is Merging in God or being One with God? As some of u may know; there r four main theories about the relationship between God and human:

    1. Strict Monotheism (like Islam has..where God is not in the nature, something unique or different and not 'in' us....and perhaps the faith Mr. Daljeet Singh follow)

    2. Polotheist (practical Hinduism is polotheism cause they have created idols of Bhagats and started worshiping them....whoever these 'gods' were just like Gurus...followers of Akal Purakh)

    3. Monism (the thought that every thing has One ORIGIN....perhaps some new sikh scholars try to say that Gurmat is this one)

    4. Pantheism ( every thing is ONE....as humans in this present form are NOT seperate from God- which is Universal Oneness-or a melange of 'hindu gods' who all are One in Brahm)

    ----

Now, Sikhism can be both 1,3,4 NOT 2. but by answaring to this questions we will see what is the best: what is merging into God? those of us who have read SGGS, may have come across these words 'be One with God' or 'merge into God'....now let us start with a critique o

f Daljeet Singh....he says that being 'one with God' means that we get a higher state....he is seeing it through a different view and SGGS has soemthing else......it is said GOD IS EVERYWHERE....he is here rite now, he is not like the Islam/Judaist belief that God is in heaven or far away! AND secondly: ONLY GOD IS TRUE! so what would be being one with God??? it is nothing else than living a life based upon Gurmat principles...and FINDING OUR INNER SELF..that is TRUE...because God EveryWhere and has no shape but the Value that HE is True...so for us it is to find the state where there is nothing but the Truth...no pain or harm or ego or anger! that is living with God or besides God or in God or whatsoever metaphor u may use that Daljeet Singh does not understand!

Concluding: i think nr. 4 pantheism would be a 'good' shot, BUT remember that saying this means that ignorant people start thing that human beings are 'Gods' or 'God'...just like what happened to Hinduism.....so i would say that Sikhism is somewhere near monotheism and monism...where as in SGGS is said that God expaned to form the Universe and therefore u have the Same Source and God is Still Everywhere, Yet One and not divided!
