  1. You Are 11% Selfish (hahaya if only)

In other words, you're a warm, caring considerate person.

Just make sure to get your way sometimes. There's a fine line between unselfish and pushover. :|

    You Are 18 Years Old

13-19: You are a teenager at heart. You question authority and are still trying to find your place in this world.

hahahah that age thing is scary esp as im going to be like 18+ 5years next week!! no.gif

  2. Recently on the way to Germany my friend came across a confiscated items box at Bham Int. Airport which contained a large amount of kirpans alongside other items such as scissors and blades.

He was disgusted by the way the kirpans were kept and displayed to the passengers as items of threat.

On his return to the UK he wrote to the airport asking that the Kirpans be handed over to a local Gurdwara.

The airport officials refused to do so and said they were not at liberty to release them.

He has single handedly campaigned against this and the kirpans have now been handed over to a Gurdwara in Birmingham.

Just a note for anyone travelling, in order to prevent beadbi to your kirpan, please make sure you have taken the unfortunate but necessary means of removing it from your body before flying out!

  5. hahahhaa lol@kumi

ya baba has special powers to forsee things right? that's why the police were there like literally seconds later hahaha convinent to have a cop shop like 30 seconds down the road

yeah anyways let's just say we have a way of finding stuff out!!!

  6. "Earlier today 3 Sikh veer jis who will be called A, B, & C went to ek nivas.

They rang tirlochan in advance and told him they wished to have darshan of SGGS Ji Maharaaj. Tirlochan told them to come at 6pm.

It was basically to check the place out and see what’s what for themselves so maybe they could accumulate additional information for tomorrow’s open meeting.

On entering the building they went up the stairs to do namaskaar to Maharaaj.

Youth A then came back down to talk to “mata ji” she started telling him about her life – how she was raised etc etc yawn yawn

    Anyways then

    Next thing you know

There are like 2 police vans and 20 officers on the site and a whole lot of ‘sangat’ outside the building.

The police officers came in and went up stairs where SGGS Ji is kept – with their frikin shoes on!!!!

So youth A noticed this and said to tirlochan what are you playing at – they got their shoes on and you just let them go up like that

To which tirlochan replied “what can I say?”

The 2 youths upstairs were then searched because someone had allegedly seen them outside putting things into their pockets

    But nothing was found

However the police did take their names/addresses etc

Then outside the 3 youths met this “Gianni” who was on his way into ek nivas 2 distribute literature – basically distortions of Gurbani and insulting Sikh maryada. They took this literature to Sedgely St Gurughar where one of the sangat members recognised this man’s work – apparently he has been thrown out of 8 Gurughars across the country and has been arrested 3 times, he claims to be a giaani but his is not Amritdhari."

    :|

So not many people know abou the details. So are you one of the 3 guys a,b,or c ?

    rolleyes.gif mmmmmm im a girl

  8. Brief points from article - note TRANSLATIONS!!! (NOT my personal beleifs before someone attacks me! :| )

That parkash of (Sri Guru Granth Sahib ji) SGGS Ji has been performed correctly according to maryada and respect for the last 11 years

There is a special place for SGGS ji

And this place resembles that of a guru ghar and has earned the respect of one

Amritdharis also come here to do seva

We have been doing seva of SGGS ji for 42 years

But recently some people – esp those from sedgley st Gurughar namely lakha singh have spoken out about the parkash of SGGS ji

Had meeting about this where the following wer epresent:

Sedgley st gurdwara committee member –bhai lakha singh

Soho rd nishkam seva jatha - bhai mohinder singh

West brom gurdwara – bhai joga singh ji

Smetwick gurdwraa v.president - bhai ravinder singh powar

Nanaksar taath isher darbar – dr sadhu singh

    And Bhai sukhvir singh

In the meeting they all emphasised the point that SGGS Ji should not be kept there because there are idols kept and worshipped there

Ek nivas baba was also present – tarlochan and he said then we will open another gurdwara for parkash of SGGS ji to which Laka Singh replied with great zest – “we will not let you open another gurdwara” and the others agreed.

Now the question is in order to open another gurdwara do u need the permission of lakha singh and the other people mentioned above?

On the internet we have been threatened, tarlochan has been threathend to get shot and I have been called a prostitute

We had a meeting with committee members from somerset rd gurdwara and they supported our case and said we can open a new gurdwara building with parkash only of SGGS ji.

Until that building is ready we will continue to do parkash of SGGS ji at ek nivas.

Somerset rd gurdwara Birmingham have helped us and acted with justice accordingly in agreeing to opening a new gurdwrara where there will be parkaash of SGGS ji, the whole situation can be resolved by what they have said.

If you wish to enquire further then you can call somerset rd gurdwara on 0121 551 1248

In the middle at the bottom in the box it says :

Khaas suchna – something important to t hink about

Ek nivas is a sanjha darbar where all all religions are respected and finished with tuk from Gurbani

“sabh meh jot, jot hai soeh||

Tis ke chanan sabh meh chanan hoeh”

  9. I doubt this is of any importance to the sangat but I wish to share it none the less

Last night i dreamt of Sant ji, it was like wowwww pray.gif

Like they came to my house and they were like let’s recite bani so I was reciting from a gutka and I kept mispronouncing this one Word so Sant ji were like correcting my pronunciation and they talked with sooooooo much piaar, like that’s all they had – love!! Nothing less. The way they spoke to me was like astonishsing it was allllll piaaaar, ah gosh. d_oh.gif And then we were walking down my hallway and we ended up at a theme park – drayton manor to be exact for those of you who know it. blush.gif Lol that was sort of weird. Anyways we went on the rapid water ride thing except the boats were like two seaters so I sat with Sant ji, and they were sitting there just chilling in a white long chola and navy blue dastaar with their hazooria; and I just sat there staring at them because they were so mesmerizing, and then I looked back and there was an empty boat behind us, so I thought I would get in there and leave Sant ji alone in their boat; so I climbed in except this boat was faulty or something and it like zoomed back and I nearly fell in the water and I ended up under some bridge, n next thing I saw was Sant ji came rowing back and told me to come back in their boat because it was safer. d_oh.gif mannnnn i wish i never woke up! :'(

    Vaheguru!

Dhan Dhan Sant Baba Jarnail Singh ji Khalsa Bhindrawhale!!! :@

funny how such a topic does not receive many views or replies as a slander/bashing indivudials one!

with regards to this wedding you can request the details of the wedding organiser via this page and also send email (template below)

they have been quite prompt with replies before and therefore should give you the relevant details

    please keep sangat updated

    everyone link = https://marriott.com/suggest/suggest.mi

    please use following template:

    Dear Sir or Madam,

I am emailing you in regards to a wedding which has been booked for 17th June 2006 at the Coral Springs Mariott Hotel

The marriage party (Bayne/Gulani) is planning to have a Sikh religious wedding ceremony at the Coral Springs Mariott Hotel, which will involve bringing 'Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji', the Sikhs' Sacred Scripture, which the Sikhs regard with utmost reverence and sanctity. The Sikh's Supreme Authority has banned this practice of Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji being taken to places where there is alcohol, tobacco or meat served. It clearly has been said that Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji is not allowed to be taken to banqueting halls, hotels, pubs or bars. Therefore, this a clear violation of the Sikhs religious sentiments and is the greatest dishonour. This is seen as an act of blasphemy. We urge you to reconsider your position and put a stop to all Sikh religious ceremonies taking place on your premises.

We would suggest the religious ceremony be held in a Sikh Gurdwara. Please can you inform the family or stop the holy scriptures being disrespected. Any help you can offer will be greatly appreciated.

We hope you will also realise the seriousness of the issue and prevent any unnecessary large peaceful protests. A big demonstration outside your hotel is planned for the wedding day if alternative arrangements are not made. There is plenty of notice to re-arrange this wedding.

We hope you take this matter seriously, and prevent any unnecessary peaceful protests by the Sikh community from across the USA by not allowing the disrespect and violation of the Sikh's sacred scripute, Guru Granth Sahib Ji, from happening on your hotel premises.

We urge you to stop the religious part of the wedding taking place on your premises so as to avoid distress to the Sikh community and the adverse publicity for your hotel. Previously hotels, halls, clubs and other such venues have agreed to change the plans.

I would like a reply as soon as possible, as Sikhs across the country are planning to hold peaceful protests outside the hotel if the Sacred Scriptures, Guru Granth Sahib Ji, is brought to the Hotel Complex.

    Regards,

    [NAME]

  11. Why are the organisers either very ignorant of other local programmes or,

(the usual case) unsupportive of keertan programmes organised by the jatha.

i'm sorry but the sevadaars involved with kirtan seva uk who organise atam ras etc in my opinion do a great seva and are not ignorant of other programmes and IF there is a clash i don't think they would be petty enough to purposely do it on the same day, i hope you appreciate how difficult their task may be as they only have a limited amount of time to host these events.

and apologies again but not everything revolves around "the jatha"

and 3rdly as Golee Maro said above "you should be happy the saadh sangat have a choice" Vaheguru just imagine all that Gurbani which will be sung and how much sangat can come and sit in Guru ji's charan and take laha

    bhul chuk maaph

  12. updates here

    Waheguroo jee ka khalsa

    Waheguroo Jee Kee Fateh

    Pyari Sadh Sangat Jee,

We have started working on this issue and are already in communication with the hotel and the family. We are working closely with the Khalsa Alliance and Panthic Weekly as well as international gursikhs to get this resolved quickly.

Please send letters to Carrie Rosencrans at carrie.rosencrans@marriott.com. Please explain to her kindly that what they will be allowing is sacrelidge and that there will be protests if they allow the religious ceremony to continue.

Please do not use any threats or profanity. Remember, you are representing the panth!

We will post updates here as they happen. Currently the family refuses and is denying Akal Takht Sahib's authority.

  13. thanks for all the support to the sangat

to taksali101 ji i have been keeping track of the thread on ek nivas, on there you yourself have stated that no one member of sangat should take the matter into their own hands as it is being dealt with according to law with the assistance of authorities, if you think i can help in any way then please let me know blush.gif

the reason i have brought this matter to attention is because it is my own family involved in this and therefore i was able to find out about the matter sooner rather than later

here is another letter template (slightly edited but originally by Manvir Singh d_oh.gif )

    please write emails to

    carrie.rosencrans@marriott.com

or visit the site (links in above post) for phone numbers/address

i have passed on the family details to a Veer ji in California

ok sorry template did not show (adminnnnnnnn sort out your edit function!!)

    Dear Carrie

I am writing to ask about the wedding ceremony being held at Santa Clara Marriott Hall of Cities Ballroom, 2700 Mission College, Santa Clara, California, on the 5th Aug 2006 for the parties Kaur and Nijjar.

If the marriage party is planning to have a Sikh religious wedding ceremony in the Hotel, which will involve bringing 'Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji', the Sikhs' Sacred Scripture, which the Sikhs regard with utmost reverence and sanctity, then we humbly request that the parties reconsider this. The Sikh's Supreme Authority has banned the Sacred Scripture, Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji, from being taken to places where there is alcohol, tobacco or meat served. It clearly has been said that Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji is not allowed to be taking to banqueting halls, hotels, pubs or bars. Therefore, this a clear violation of the Sikhs religious sentiments. The Sikh scriptures are treated as a Living Guru and not just a 'book' hence why the holy Scriptures are given the utmost respect by all Sikhs.

There have been previous cases recently where families planning weddings have disregarded the sanctity and sacredness of the Sikh's Scripture and have violated the edict of the Sikh supreme authority. These incidents have led to large peaceful protests outside venues with Sikhs from across the UK coming to support these measures, and also police involvement and support.

The British police have been supportive of the Sikh community. Recently the police issued a statement that a Sikh wedding planned at the Royal Lancaster Hotel London was re-arranged, so that the wedding will take place in a nearby Sikh Gurdwara (place of worship) rather than in the hotel complex. The decision of stopping the Sikh wedding at the Hotel came about as the Hotel was overflown with Sikhs from across the UK phoning, and emailing trying to educate the Hotel about the Sikh sentiments and issues.

Siks are waiting to do the same thing in California if the matter is not resolved effectively. The wedding parties have just over 2 months at present to change their plans and have the wedding at a Sikh Gurdwara as required by Sikh Authority - Akal Takht (the equivalent to the Vatican).

We hope you will also realise the seriousness of the issue and prevent any unnecessary large peaceful protests that may bring unnecessary upset to the wedding parties..

Here are some links to news articles regarding previous cases which have cause unnecessary hassle to the Sikh community:

    * http://www.panthic.org/news/124/ARTICLE/1887/2005-10-16.html

    * http://www.panthic.org/news/131/ARTICLE/1450/2005-06-19.html

I hope you take this matter severely, and prevent any unnecessary peaceful protests by the Sikh community from across the USA by not allowing the disrespect and violation of the Sikh's sacred scripute, Guru Granth Sahib Ji, from happening on your hotel premises.

I would like a reply as soon as possible, as Sikhs across the country are planning to hold peaceful protests outside the hotel if the Sacred Scriptures, Guru Granth Sahib Ji, is brought to the Centre complex.

Thanks in advance for your help.

    Regards,

  14. Dear Sangat ji

It has come to my attention that there will be a wedding taking place at

    Santa Clara Marriott

    2700 MISSION COLLEGE BOULEVARD

    SANTA CLARA

    CALIFORNIA

    950 54

    PHONE 1 408 988 1500

    FAX 1 408 352 4353

    On SAT/05/AUG/2006

The Anand Karaj will take place on the hotel premises at 3.30pm followed by “cocktails and dinner and dance” there is no mention of a Gurughar on the invitation hence why it is strongly believed that Maharaaj will be taken to the hotel. I have emailed the hotel but I am still waiting a reply as to whether the Anand Karaj ceremony will take place at the hotel. the hotel website claims that they "specialize in ethnic weddings, religious and social events."

The website for the hotel is as follows

    http://marriott.com/property/abouthotel/de...?WT_Ref=mi_left

There are still a couple of months until the wedding takes place so if we could please unite internationally and put pressure on the hotel to stop this beadbi from occurring!
