heyyyyyyy stranger!!! where you been hiding??? (ha ha from my driving i bet! BUT you may be pleased to know in the past two weeks i only like had one sort of accident - i drove into a bin at the petrol station and knocked it over and kind of reversed and drove off rolleyes.gif )

yeah one of the Singh's is from wolves, i don't have the cd yet - just the one track from Tigerstyle, look out for it at the local meleh.

t - shirts/hoodies are easy - make your own! that's what i done!! but if they do have more produced this year i'll buy you one so you owe me!!!

PAUL 84 - why don't you send the lyrics to IP boys via internet/post? i know some one else looking for lyrics if you are interested!

  2. has anyone come across this before or can perhaps shed some more light on it?

    92499

ok so i guess you have gathered you are going to have to enlarge the image to read it unless you have superman/superwoman style eye sight!

for those not too good with Punjabi -

article basically says that all those who have attacked Sri Harimandir Sahib have never lived to see the 154th sunset after the attack, i.e. they have all died/been killed on the 153rd day - all within 5 months

i was just wondering if anyone knows why this is significant?

  3. yeah that article makes sense!

i recently got a new job at a sikh recreation and learning centre and its so cool, so different to working at other places, last place done my head in because the peoples' mentality was so limited and all they talked about was sex and alcohol etc and each time i used to try and explain there was so much more to life i just ended up being pushed away! also now if i say Vaheguru (when im meant to say something else like hello/bye etc) to the people i deal with i get smiled at rather than people thinking im crazeeeeeeee!!!!! plus i work right next to a Gurdwara - beat that!!! :TH:

  4. Jagtar Singh, "I am not Asian.  I am British Sikh.  I am born in Europe, hold a British passport and am a Sikh - so I am British Sikh"

Other points highlighted in the show by presenters and listeners:

    - "Asians" technically involves Russians, Arabs, Chinese etc... why are they not labelled by the government and media as "Asians" and no-one makes a hoo-haa... but when Sikhs ask to be called "Sikhs" and not "Asians" then people make a big deal

    - British Govt. recognised Sikhs as a distinct ethnic group and race in 1983

    - Sikhs are distinct and not the same as Hindus and Muslims as the pro-Asian label person was saying.  We have turban and beard! So yes a person can tell that we are different from the rest of Asian communities.

    - If we were recognised by media and government as a separate identity (away from Asians) then public would become more aware of Sikhs and government can properly monitor and provide needs specific to the Sikh community.

    - "All Sikhs are are British Asians"... Jagtar Singh - "So I a White Sikh living in UK is "British Asian"?"

    - Muslims want to use label Asians for themselves and others (like Hindus and Muslims) to share the load and shame caused by extremist Muslims across the world.

    92170

    sooooooooo true!

every time i have to fill out some form i never tick the asian box, i tick other and write Sikh, that's what many Sikhs done also during the census thing so many years ago

  5. the other week this kala started on some friends of mine - male - Sikhs - with dastaars and stuff, he was like sayin you muslim this that and the other and this tramp yelled at him and said they are not muslim they're Sikhs, they got nothing to do with islam and so one of the guys went up to him just to say thanks and he said because he goes Gurdwara where he can get langar and stuff he knows what a Sikh looks like

it always comes down to the education thing i think

  6. yeh what ALL INFO said and i think its about your own mentality and stuff too, sometimes things happen to you and you just have to listen to yourself and get over it or get on with whatever it is you need to do, also depends on your situation, think of what you will gain from what it is you require this will power.

  7. READ THIS (its worth it):

25 MILLION SIKHS CELEBRATE THE MEMORY OF THE POPE WHO RALLIED TO THEIR SUPPORT AS A CHAMPION OF INTERFAITH AND HUMAN RIGHTS

2nd April  2005,London : 25 million Sikhs around the world remember the intrepid Pope John Paul II for his support for human rights when their religious freedom was attacked last year and twenty years earlier.

‘Last year Pope John Paul II threw his weight behind Sikhs to oppose the French government’s ban on religious signs, including the Sikh Turban, at schools, saying ''the government cannot be an arbiter in any religious matter.'', said Sameep Singh, inter-faith Director of UNITED SIKHS, a  global human development organisation that works for the betterment of Sikhs globally.

''In other words, Governments should respect dignity of the human person and of his inalienable rights among which his right to adhere, practice and propagate his religion is fundamental. No Government should interfere with the inner core of any religion,'' the Pope had said in a message.

The Pope’s message came after the Sikh community sought his intervention to oppose the French ban on the Sikh turban, an expression of the Sikh identity and faith. UNITED SIKHS led a petition campaign seeking the intervention of world leaders to persuade the French government to abandon its plan to pass the ban-law.

Pope John Paul II said in a message, ''In recent times, we have witnessed in some European countries an attitude that could endanger the effective respect for religious freedom. Everyone may agree to respect the religious sentiment of individuals but the same can not be said of the religious factor, that is the social dimension of religions. It is nothing other than respect for all beliefs on the part of the State that assures the free exercise of ritual, spiritual and cultural and charitable activities by communities of believers.''

The Pope said a healthy dialogue between the Church and the State would encourage harmony in society.

“The Pope’s contribution to interfaith dialogue made him a veritable saint-soldier whose influence on spiritual and temporal matters was phenomenal,” said Sameep Singh.

Twenty years earlier, when the Sikhs’ holiest shrine in Amritsar, popularly known as the Golden Temple, was attacked by the Indian armed forces, the Pope did not mince his words in support for the human rights of thousands of innocent worshippers who had been killed during the attack.

“In these days, the news has followed the ever more serious events in the state of Punjab. I do not want to go into the delicate and complex motives behind these disturbances in a great nation. But the sad fact is that the place where so many people met a tragic death is a temple where men gather in prayer.

”I address an immediate sentiment of human pity for all the victims with a call that a way to resolve the current strife can be found in a mutual understanding..." Pope John Paul II said.

This kind of stuff has all been discussed before as suggested, so if for whatever reason it is neccesarry to discuss it again can we at the very least PLEASE keep to the topic. Refrences to your experiences regarding the subject matter being discussed have not been requested as of yet, so save them for elsewhere. This topic is asking about Nihangs.

i would just like to point out that my original comment was made in a light hearted manner...but obviously was not interpreted in that way (by a few people may i add who have approached me directly regrading this) so my second comment was made to clarify my original point, perhaps same as saying "yeh i smoked a cigarette just to see what the fuss is about" (which by the way i have not done just in case that is also misinterpreted)

so this anjaan fool asks for forgiveness for anything she may have said which was taken out of context and/or offended anyone. pray.gif
