1. do you know of any Sanchaars in the west midlands apart from those already mentioned, also with regards to the 5kakkakrs, if you are unable to get hold of them yourself they are provided right? But are they given to you before you turn up or when you arrive?

    info would be much appreciated.

  3. ya ive heard some muslims wear kareh too especially in clubs and stuff because obviously these days you dont know who is a 'sikh' & who isnt & i suppose you look 2 see whether they wear a kara or not

also my friend (gujrati hindu) asked me to purchase a kara for him from the Gurdwara, i was like no waaaaaay!!!

end of that day though if they wear it and wear it for the wrong reasons its not good & reflects badly upon everyone else

    Your past life diagnosis:

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I don't know how you feel about it, but you were male in your last earthly incarnation.

You were born somewhere in the territory of modern North China around the year 1075.

Your profession was that of a digger, undertaker. ohmy.gif

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Your brief psychological profile in your past life:

Revolutionary type. You inspired changes in any sphere - politics, business, religion, housekeeping. You could have been a leader.

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The lesson that your last past life brought to your present incarnation:

Your lesson is to learn humility and faith in spiritual principles. You should believe in higher reasons. pray.gif

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Do you remember now?ERRRRRRMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM NOPE! <_<

this may sound like a stupid question, but forgive me for i am 'anjaan', when participating in the above mentioned seva do you clean your own shoes also?? Or does that not count? Because you do become so engorssed in what you are doing that you do not even think "i wonder who's shoes these are". if anyone can enlighten me it will be most appreciated!

  8. sangat ji i had another accident today!!

i was trying to park and this delivery van was in the way and i reversed right into its side, i heard that horrible crushing noise (its so familiar now) what are cars made of?! i wish they would not break so easily but rather BRAKE more easily!

i did not stop to survey the damage as luckily the driver was in some shop so i drove down the road and parked somewhere else and pretended i had nothing to do with it though i think my back light will be indicative of the fact that perhaps i was somehow involved....and to make matters worse...the van driver was a nice guy for when i walked past he smiled at me and said hello! made me feel so much worse!

    no.gif

    oh well!!!!

General Sir H. Smith Dorien. GOC 2nd Corps

  10. I use Gucci Shampoo and Lassi as conditioner ..

    Nah me messin khalsa jio,

i use this Avon Shampoo dat ma pabi orders, and its wicked man..

    89145

hmmmmmmmmmmmm Ranz hun im sure you told me the other day it's shower gel you use on your hair... rolleyes.gif that you thought was conditioner hahhahaha LOL.gif

  11. i also forgot to add...

it is not just about 'hair' i.e. just because a guy has long hair and ties it in a joora and adorns a turban upon his head does not make him a 'Sikh'. It's his actions which will determine that, so what is the point of this ban? Say someone grows their hair just to get married and then after the anand karaj goes off to the local boozer or whatever and carries on doing whatever they want to do. A non-sikh will think something like"hey there goes a Sikh and look he's piss*d". And say there is a mona with genuine piaar for Sikhi and does all the things Sikhi requires yet has not received the gift of Amrit, where is he meant to go?

  12. i use head and shoulders too and i have to wash my hair every day otherwise i cannot comb it because i got an afro! (and now iv'e had to spend like £100 on straightners) anyways ive been told washing it with shampoo everyday is not good so perhaps use an alternative every other day like dehi (yoghurt) or something or try washing it in just conditioner or you can try like chinese herbal places, they have some good stuff, i went to acupunture one time with my dad and i ended up spending like £25 on a shampoo bottle, it was really good (but i could only afford to buy it once lol rolleyes.gif ) my friend is taking some tablet things from the same place because her hair is thin and she reckons it falls out a lot, it's worth visiting one of these joints and finding out more!

  13. Gurdwara ban on short-hair marriage

    PARVINDER BHATIA

Jamshedpur, March 13: Buoyed by the success of the ban imposed on jeans-clad women from entering the Gurdwara premises, the Central Gurdwara Prabhandhak Committee (CGPC) here has decided to ban Sikhs with trimmed hair from getting married at gurdwaras.

According to CGPC officials, the step has been taken to uphold the religious customs of the community. They said the decision was taken after consulting senior members of the community. CGPC has written to the heads of 23 Gurdwara prabandhak committees in the city to implement the decision.

It has also warned the committees of strict action if they were found flouting the orders. “The holy books have some directives on hair in our religion but it is sad that people, especially the youths, are shaving their beards and heads and disowning the sacred beliefs. It is essential to create an awareness among them,” said Sardar Shailendar Singh, a senior official of the CGPC.

Members, men or women, with trimmed hair will not be allowed to perform “Anand Kharaj” (a religious marriage ceremony) on the Gurdwara premises. Senior CGPC vice-president Harbhajan Singh said the decision would work as a pressure tactic on youths so that they will learn to respect their hair.

“Hair is the identity of a Sikh but it is sad that trimming of hair has become a sort of fashion among youths. We have to make them realise the importance of our beliefs. The ban will also serve an eye opener for parents,” he said.

Singh, who is also the president of Sonari Gurdwara Prabhandhak Committee said the Gurdwaras have already started implementing the decision. However, the decision taken by the central body is set to snowball into a controversy as some members have started voicing their protest.

  14. vaheguru ji ka khalsa,

    vaheguru ji ki fathe,

    vaheguru ji ka khalsa,

    88085

was there not a talk&video thingy on this a few months ago? "where have all the wives gone?" done at Guru Nanak Gurdwara smethick?? im sure it ws kinda related 2 this article, it ws real good & informative

  15. My two cents..

I don't think we should have a thread distinguishing between AKJ/Tapoban and Damdami Taksaal and Nihung dals, there have always been clashes between views of several Sikh jathebandis even during and after the times of Guru Gobind Singh ji, but they all stuck to their guns and came together during war.

By distinguishing between these groups we are breaking them in small categories which could lead to who knows what. They are all under the Nishaan sahib and are the Khalsa Panth, although each group has its own views towards certain things. We can say what their views are on certain topics but not separate them into 'GROUPS', this is the exact point of conflict when one starts to say i'm from this group or that group, there's no group just one BIGGG group of the Khalsa.

We can make another thread on who naamdhari, etc. are by making an ANTI-SIKH post.

    88120

yeah khalsa i like that idea, lets make a post on naamdharis and radhaswamis n stuff?

    88127

Vaheguru ji ka Khalsa Vaheguru ji ki Fateh,

i think the above 2 are valid replies, is there not already too much "tu tu mein mein" between jatehbandiaa(n)?i have met some sikhs with real strict views and to be honest i was disheartend because they were 'hating' on fellow khalsa sikhs and went onto say that if they do not belong to a certain group (i won't obviously mention who) then they are all b******s! i think we need 2 dissolve the issue not make it more obvious.

apologies if my view was taken the wrong way.

  16. I have thought about adopting a child after my marriage, but i dont know, what are typical 'punjabi' parents view on this?

    87959

yeh so have i, regardless of having like my 'own' i would so love 2 adopt, and i agree with what u say about so many children being unwanted and stuff, ive told my dad 2 give me sum of his land back in punjab so i cn open an orphange but i dont think he's down 4 that! lol but on a serious note i would love 2 do that, kids r like so cool, i want like 10 myself when/if i get married - be they adopted or not! :TH: ok i have 2 go now cus my 6 year old bro is sittin on the toilet sayin "kar leiiiiiiiiiiii" ah the joys of parenthood - well older sisterhood 4 now! rolleyes.gif
