  1. I will reply one by one. One member says that why didn't Ambedkar chose Sikhism instead of Buddhism.

One valid reason is that some sikhs still practice caste(sorry its true guys), ignoring the nanak's teachings and spirit of sikhism.

Still I hear that Honor killings in Punjab(though less cases than rest of north and haryana). Honor killings mean that they want daughters to marry in clans. That stupid Gotra stuff.

He even thought about Islam but he saw the muslims of Larkana in pak who were treated like garbage by elite punj muslims(the ruling class in pak).

So he thought that only Buddhism is free from caste.

But in Sri Lanka the Chamar(pardon my using this hateful word) Buddhists are still treated with contempt.

    So Hypocrisy is everywhere.

rest I will reply tomorrow, today extremely tired. Pls excuse.

  2. Its true that after Asoka converted to Buddhism majority of hindus converted to Buddhism, But afterwards they were reconverted into hinduism forcibly saying that Buddhism preaches non violence and peace and lacks the warrior instinct.

Only nations to the northeast of India+Myanmaar+tibet+Sri Lanka were spared.

Those in North west were taken care by Mughals. You can still see the Buddhist style houses(like in Ladakh) in NWFP.

  3. Hai frnds,

being such a huge nation we don't often get to know the beauty of other cultures. I recommend all to read the work of this tamil saint which is still revered by one and all.

    Whoever reads it praises it.

I don't know whether its available in Punjabi but english version of the book is there.

Thiru means Shri and Kural means words/shabds.

After you read the book, you will thank me for generations for recommending such a wonderful work of a great saint.

  4. Why do some amrithdhari sikhs prefer to become mona sikh. I can understand those who go to gulf for work since its radical islamic union.

I find it very strange since abroad people fight lawsuits to protect their distinct identity(Turban).

Why such phenomenon in India then....?

Pls some member throw some light on this?

  5. Its also possible that Hemant Karkare phoned Digvijaya from some other number, that is why call records are not showing he talked to him.

I believe that Hemant karkare talked to Digvijaya.

Sir Hemant karkare knows the system. He knows phones are tapped, He might have confided his views to trustworthy people securely.

I believe he did receive threats from hindu extremists but he was killed by kasab and co.

  6. Could anyone tell me as to how to find the purpose of one's life? Should we rely on astrology?

Many people consider astrology as supernatural. So what then?

Many pupils take the profession of their parents. And its easy for them to excel in them too since they acquire necessary skills, guidance and grooming from small age in that profession from their parents. Then is it so that they were destined to do that thing which they inherited from their parents. How can a person decide which thing is good for them or not. Some people are good in one thing whereas some are good in others. Some are good in everything. But its not necessary that the you have knowledge that you have talent in a specific thing. Many people compromise on their talents(because of various reasons like lack of finance to pursue it) and end up doing jobs which is obviously boring to them since they have compromised with their interest its another thing that doesn't suit their aptitude.(you may or may not know what you are good in)

We all know that money is necessary then why not earn in as well enjoy the process of earning?

Have we ever thought what would be if Sachin or Shahrukh Khan became something else say Tennis player and Hockey player(both had aptitude in these also)? Did they listened to any inner voice which guided them. If its so then why we don't have any such.

Many People reach their mid 40s and then discover, "oh gosh, I had aptitude in this thing. Should have gone for it earlier."

But then what purpose will be served by thinking about it. Now you cannot turn the clock back. The time which has been lost has lost.

What I mean is that you can experiment a lot in life and come to conclusion that you have interest in a specific thing but by the time you come to this conclusion you would have lost valuable and precious time in experimenting.

How to avoid this loss of time beforehand?

    With Warm Regards,

P.S. (I hope this is the suitable place to post this thread. Pls forgive me if its otherwise. This is just my first thread. I'm a newbie.)

  7. If we look at the the teachings of Sikhi, why do we always focus on Caste, Guru ji says 'Manas ki jatt sab eko pachan' This relates to all of humanity as one, so why do we then differentiate between nationalities, cultures etc.

To me this quote is about treating all with respect, regardless of their background/identity.

We need to try and seperate some aspects of culture from religion. If we focus on religion, then in reality there is not much discrimination on so called caste. Anyone can go to any Gurdwara and pay their respects to Guru Granth Sahib as well as partake in Sangat and listen to Kirtan, bani etc. When taking Amrit, you are not asked about your identity, i.e. so called caste', i could go on.

So the concept of caste has been eradicted in terms of religion. Even if you go to a so called 'Ramghari' Gurdwara. no body stops you from partcipating in the Sangat and listening to bani.

'Caste' is a western concept that was used by the British to divide the people of India. It is cultural and as mentioned in an earlier post, Jats are a tribe and so what is wrong with anyone identifying themselves with their ancestoral identity. As long their main identity is as a Sikh first. What Sikhi teaches is that all are equal there is no hiearchy, it does not say that you may deny your history from a cultural view, as long as you treat all other Humans with respect.

    I have two doubts:-

    1. Why is Sikhism silent about Janms theory. Like in hinduism its 7 Births/janms and in islam its 1 birth. Even though 7 janms cannot be scientifically proven.

    2. Why do sikhs practice caste along with hindus in India and Pak? This is evident from honour killings that are taking place in Punjab. I'm not trying to say that only hindus practice caste system, parsis, muslims, christians do so also. Isn't it that the Dashmesh condemned it(caste system). Practicing cast ism is directly in contravention/contradiction with the teachings of gurus.

Appreciate it if someone clears these doubts with getting PERSONAL.
