Try and build a routine, so you stop feeling the way you are at the moment. Keep yourself busy. Everything happens according to god's will so do not get depressed over the marriage situation.

So does its being gods will make the situation any better ? you can't afford to sit back ,relax and laugh at yourself because its god's will.

Even i Dont know where i am going

  2. i have recently started boxing and had a query.

if i dont wear one then my dastaar is a open target during spaaring.. so

can singhs wear headguards when training

theres a bachan about wearing hats and that is the reason for me asking this

Could you share your training schedule with us ?

  3. Laila Majnu , heer ranjha , sassi punu , Mirza - these were all legends set in punjab . Considering that sikhs hail from the same place and are made of the same dust that has given birth to these legends , its only expected that some sikhs will be die hard romantics

  4. Why not stop complaining? It's a forum - if you don't want to read those posts, then don't.

    I agree

and so many people still deny democracy . and where would diversity go if all people were the same , thought the same and did the same . The colour of life is in its variety

Creating such posts also helps people find out whats right for them in a way as long as they abide by what people here advise and in no way does the reputation of sikh sangat as a religious forum get undermined if people were to create such posts . There are so many sub forums on sikh sangat out of which there is only 1 on which people create such posts .This sets me thinking .Will Khalistan be a Theocracy or a democracy ?

  5. I've never read that, can you recall which book it was?

I'm no expert but I have read that guru ji had great presence both physically and obviously spritually. Guru ji had great stature, i.e. tall, muscular.

I may be completly wrong but you may have confused with Maharaja Ranjit Singh, he was short but was also a lion. Anyway I suppose height has nothing to do with anything really, It's the person and their skill and abilities, and how they carry themselves.

That Ranjit singh was short has been corrobroted in the writings of an englishman . Some Sardarji mentioned in his novel that GuruJi was short 5 ft 9-10 something . He also mentioned what singh559 wrote about how GuruJi could create a shield around his highness with 2 swords , he could wield them so fast . The sardarji was criticized for his depiction on a sikh forum too for this .

  7. Sahib Guru Gobind Singh Ji was tall but he wasn't as tall as Guru Hargobind Sahib ji.

Guru Gobind Singh Ji was able to use two kirpans to slice arrows during combat, Guru Ji was an amazing swordsman and bowman. There's a reason two assassins sent by the Mughals failed. One failed and got killed by Guru Ji and the other ran off and got killed by Singhs outside the tent.

Wow ! But height doesnt have much to do with combat skills
  8. I have a recorded Katha about Sri Guru Hargobind Singh Ji and how much of an amazing warrior he was. It is said he was very large in height and his pat (leg thighs) were comparable to the size of a man. The kashera of Guru Sahib was huge.

I'll upload it later, it might have some useful info in it.

Yes Please . Someone wrote in a book that Guru Gobind Singh Ji was not tall enough . So i find it a bit strange that Guru Hargobind Sahib Ji was tall and Guru Gobind Singh Ji was nt so .
  9. Those are very immature replies, don't put stupid ideas in the guy's head! :dry2:

Payarey shotey veer, I'm sure you already know what the Gurmat thing to do is :) You both are quite young and have a lot of life to see as of yet. There's school and career to consider and not to mention, your Sikhi as well. Personally, I feel that you should stay as friends until you have almost finished school/University. Of course, do not take any action with out consulting with your parents first, that goes for both you and the girl. However, if you are unable to stay as friends, then it may be better to keep your distance as much as possible for the next few years and concentrate on school, career and Sikhi. Just my 2 cents :)

But cant 1 always pay attention to career as well as keep such obligations. I didnt mean just marry her . It mite have sounded like that . But what i meant was marry her later once you are settled .

I am not amritdhari . I couldnt marry someone i wanted to marry cos i was looking to take a few risks in my career . I didnt want her to wait for me just cos i didnt know how much time it would take me to find satisfaction in what i did. but this guy has so much time

  10. how to know whether she didnt just propose to stick on in the UK . so many eligible mutiyaars in punjab blatantly put it down in their matrimonials that they would like a match who is well settled abroad . I am serious

  11. Vahe Guru Ji Ka Khalsa

    Vahe Guru Ji Ki Fateh.

im a 19 year old amrithari singh. theres a girl who ive known for about 6yrs now and we are tight together, like best freinds, and she is not amrithari. she has told me that she likes me and wants to marry me. personally ive liked her for a while but havnt told her because ive felt its wrong because my parents have not given permission to move foreward yet. i do want to marry her because we get along, comfortable around each other and we do paat together. both have been through tough times together. im living in the UK put now she is moving to india, and its not holding me back, what do i do now?? any gurmat veiws?

    Marry Her
  12. Guru Hargobind Ji was known for his great wrestling ability. So more than likely wrestling related exercises (e.g. Dand Behtaks) would have formed a mainstay of the Khalsa fauj.

Does anyone have any idea about how good kettlebells would be for building super strength and how to buy the ones that would be the perfect match for u - heavy so that they stress you muscles but not so heavy that you are not able to work out and waste your money . They should nt be light at all else they wont be any use

  13. First we must cleanse our community of all the rubbish that these gurdwara committe people have created . Revamp the entire system . Throw out the existent committees .Get rid of the mindset that processes (Hypocritical rules and regulations )are more important than intentions .No longer can taksal be held as the lighthouse that will guide us towards attaining our spiritual and temporal objectives Then we must talk of changing the outside world

  14. They still not taken action against the Delhi Prabandakhs for the hall at Shri Rakab Ganj Sahib where meat is served and waiters/cooks smoke beedis. The Akal Takht was sent proof more than a year ago.

you mean at the parties held at Shri Rakab Ganj . Hor kaad lod ha . Jad ainee atihasik sthan nu nahi bakshaiya te tusi te london da khyal cchad do

  15. I remember a few years ago some Singhs tried to ask Jathedar Vedanti some questions in Birmingham and he threw a wobbly! I hope these ones aren't like that. Jathedars need to accessible to the panth and work in the spirit of public servants accountable to the Sikh people.

transparency and open access are not part of the culture prevalent in punjab nowadays
  16. This happened to me when i studied the whole night without any breaks . The next morning i woke imy head reeled from the stress . I felt dehydrated and my eyes felt heavy . My Head felt ready to burst .

  17. Sometimes i feel that asking God for Help is just futile because there may be no god cos had there been some god we would nt have had such disasters as the tsunamis that killed so many innocent people . When there are so many destitute people on the street living in slums , so many people having to sleep hungry whereas the rich continue to indulge in lavish luxury , Children growing up without education , simple honest people live an honest living but in poverty and the lack of privileges that they suffer from make it appear as if they are being punished for no reason . When there are so many other people praying to god , would God listen to my prayers ? Blaming the plight of all these people that i mentioned on Karma is futile because a person should know what he is being punished for . Also when i see people pretending to be religious and cheating others by dishonest means , the question mark that i have becomes bigger . Why doesnt God oversee all this .
