"Every 30 Minutes": Crushed by Debt and Neoliberal Reforms, Indian Farmers Commit Suicide at Staggering Rate"

    It's probably worse in Punjab.

On the contrary punjabi Farmers are rich . Most of them have given out their lands on thekas and now have baiyyas working on their fields . of couse the income of the punjabi farmer depends on the land holdings which get divided further with each new generation . But you can contemplate the plight of the baiyyas who get treated worse than you can imagine . They are scorned , mistreated and looked down upon .with contempt

  2. SGPC*

Yes, the money isn't managed well at all. If i hadn't known better, i'd think it wasn't spent for the welfare of Sikhs, of course i'm wrong though.

I was talking about sri guru singh sabha . is that different .

The guru ki wadali doesnt have a proper langar hall . Its such a famous sthan of Sri Guru Hargobind Singh Ji . The San sahib Gurdwara sarovar is in need of maintainence . The Bidar Gudwara sarovar needs maintenance . There are bed bugs in many gurdwaras . Amd the Gudwara staff is more concerned with stupid rules and regulations than serve the sangat . I am just talking about a few places . There must be many more . Not all the money is spent in the right direction . I heard the delhi gurdawara has loads of Maya . They didnt help the Victims of Chaurasi get jobs etc . This is what i read / Heard and nothing is wrong with it sice we rely on the media to become aware of the truth .

I dont wanna get carried away yet again so i sign out and yeah let the gurudwara people come and cut me with their swords for crying foul for this is all that they r good at

    Legal Aid Appeal

SOPW are raising funds needed for the lawyers fees for the following imprisoned Sikhs:

Balbir Singh; Currently in Nabha Jail, Punjab

Sher Singh; Currently in Amritsar Jail, Punjab

Dharminder Singh; Currently in Nabha Jail

Rajwinder Singh; on bail, case heard in Delhi.

Please donate to ensure that these Sikhs have access to legal representation.

Why doesnt the SGSS fund their representations out of the donations that collect . I dont think all of the maya that collect at Sri Harminder Sahib is spent on the maintainence of gurdwaras nationwide

  4. It's a matter of them coming to you don't let anyone tell you otherwise. Before we were born in this world God provided us with everything, family, shelter, etc. if it's in our karam to get married it will halon when it's supposed to happen.

A lot of people worry about marriage. Dont stress about it. Don't know why people think so highly of marriage, it's not some fairy tale, it's anything but that.

People who have sisters will know why its so important for people to get married within a certain age . Same with Guys . Come back to the reality . Guess its because you are still too young for marriage and you think that everyone should think like U do

  5. Yes they are circumcised, only eat halal grass and neigh towards Mecca....

Mind you, I once saw a very old picture of a Singh who had (apparently) given amrit to his horse and even made it wear a kachera. Strange but true.

I guess you manage to converse with those horses and find out their pain

  6. I was actually thinking about posting this since a long time now ...

I stay in mumbai , India and whatever things maybe .. whether people hate us sikhs or not .. whether bollywood says we are stupid or not ... image of sardars is very much still a majestic and a noble one ...

I am born and brought up in a sikh family , but right since the beginning I am nothing what a normal sardar ought to be .. I have no pride , confidence and some other vital things which I should have . I don't have that competitive nature which most sardarji's have ..

I know above sentences might sound confusing , but I basically sometimes think I am a disgrace to my community ... some non-sikhs have said so , as well ! Dont-know.png

I feel like a confused 21 year old sikh ! please help ..

Istaying in Mumbai will have its influence .
  7. Raj Kapoor ( i think he was an actor ) had great respect for SGGS, he walked barefoot from someplace in India ( think Madiya Pardes ) to Amritsar and stayed there 3 days with his whole family and carried out seva inc washing dishes. He was a regular visitor to Harmandar Sahib .

Raj Kapoor's Father Prithvi Raj Kapoor used to be a Family Friend of my Grandfathers brother - in - Law and believed in Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji. In those days they were just tramps , Neighbourhood Drama Actors who would move from city to city . Then they struck big and My Great Grandfathers brother - in - Law didnt hear from them again .

  8. My Friend is thinking of becoming a Sikh but her/his family is not all from a Sikh Punjabi back ground.

Can that person become a full Amritdhari like the people who have brown punjabi background only? Muslims and Christians are all around the world as different races but Sikhs seem to be mainly brown punjabi background people only

Please give you true answer. would you see that my friend as a true Amritdhari?

What is brown punjabi Background ? do u mean segregation by colour of skin , White ,Black,Yellow and Brown

  9. I have seen a few of these types of weddings...BUT I have never seen one where any side has converted religion... I.e: Sikh boy marrys hindu girl...but doesnt convert to hinduism, nor does the girl convert to Sikhism... Also seen Sikh girl marrys hindu boy, but the gil doesnt convert, and the ceromy despite being against Rehit Maryada, I have seen take place in a Gurdwara...Others dont get married in a Gurdwara or Mandir and just do a registry marriage.... 99% of these weddings are where the the couple have a love marriage, i.e: they independately met each other and dayed, went out...etc..

There was a sikh girl in my college who had an affair with a hindu Punjabi Guy . The guy already had had a number of past affairs ,yet they started contemplating marriage . The girls parents agreed to the match but the guys parents had objections . I dont know if they eventually got married .
  10. Traditionally the Singhs would do daily dynamic body excercises, with main emphasis on Dand Behtaks (Squatting and Dive Bomb Pressups) which adds natural weight and strength to a person. The more the better, but the aim is to do at least 3000 squats a day and 1000 dive bomb pressups, combined with a regime of stretching to build up the tendons in the body rather then muscle, improving flexibility and agility. Core muscle groups like the back, stomach and legs were built up so that horse riding and marching could be withstood, combined with a good diet.

Weights were used but not as much as the wrestlers as the Singhs would ride horses so they cudnt afford to keep too much mass on them. All this was combined with hours of swordsmanship practise, sparing, and meditation to focus the mind.

3000 squats a day and 1000 dive bomber pushups . Yo .I guess this should be all they managed to take time out for in a day . I manage 500 squats in 15 minutes . 3000 should take at least 2 hours . and 1000 pushups should take an hour too. I know Frank Ross manages to do this much .

  11. Thats where you do the press, with your clothes on your shoulders :D

These jokes are so bad, they probably actually made you laugh :)

No but seriously couldn't you have just typed shoulder press into your search engine or something? lol its just when press press a weight above your shoulders.

I guess sikh sangats the place for you to come and crack your jokes and take out your stress on guys who are looking around for some genuine tips . You are the sort of people who discourage others from coming out with their questions , however stupid the quests might be and learn from others .i guess i need to soften my stand a bit but i am just being Frank regarding what i feel about someone spamming on a thread that i started with a serious intent . . I guess i am mature enough to take your jokes with a Pinch of Salt

Thanks for being so Kind and Helpful

  12. Interesting question. I dont really have the answer. But I suspect that it was nothing complicated or fancy. Certainly, wrestling, would have been part of the curriculum as many of the Sikh warriors of old, such as Hari Singh Nalwa, were great wrestlers.

I suspect, that much of the training was bodyweight exercises such as dand (hindu push ups), baithak (hindu squats), twirling indian clubs, climbing ropes, and training with sacks of wheat and lifting stones.

They certatinly didnt have commericial gyms and bodybuilding would have been considered a waste of time as it doesnt have any translation for the fitness, strength and endurance required for real fighting.

Are U the Subaig Singh the MMA Guy

  13. I'm not passing a dictate that 'orders' anything my brother. Just giving my opinion about something I feel passionate about.

Yeah, everything you have said after is true, it happens, but its going off point completely. No where did I say people with full kesh are perfect.

My point is that wearing a pug but feeling the need to trim your beard has become the norm and also actually sort after. I feel this trend is not good for the sikh community. I'm not judging these people mate, but against the trend. They probably dont see nothing wrong with it but if they were taught how its not really the way to go, then maybe they wouldn't do it. Again, I feel the majority of them don't keep their turbans for spiritaul reasons but rather as a tradional sort of thing.

I guess i am notorious for going off the point . Need to keep myself from being swept away then . Sorry for Spamming lol
  14. I am not judging or condemning these men individually but I don't like the trend and concept of trim bearded turban wearers. Unless they are keeping their kesh on their head for spiritual reasons and are working towards growing their beards, I would much prefer it if they got rid of their turbans and cut their hair altogether. I think this trend is ruining sikhi. It makes it seem as if its the right thing to do. Wear a turban but trim your beard.

Again, don't think I am hating on them, I dont like the trend but i am in no way judging them. My own brother is a trimmer but turban wearer.

But my dear friend judging or condemning these men is what you are doing by passing down a dictate that orders these men to do away with the turbans.

    :)

I hate people who pass decrees on others cos none of us is totally inncocent .

I was walking along the road when i saw an uncleji with total kesh + beard intact riding his bike with his son in tow eyeing a bevy of Bibiyan passing by .

Not that i dont eye the opposite sex uncontrollably and unknowingly sometimes. It is just that i have the earnestness to accept my faults on a public forum where i could be castigated for being so perverted . But let me assure you of my conscious which is still alive .

We all know about babas in gurdwaras who say waheguru on 1 hand and indulge in graft and exploit bibiyan sometimes . Did you forget the attempt at Harmandir Sahib .

Not to speak of the Babas managing gurdawaras and musafirkhanas who rule the places as if the places were their jagirs. These babas dont have the decency to talk to a needy person politely and feel that they have the mandate to decide whom to give the room to and whome to deny . I say this because according to tradition any one can go and and seek accomodation at a place where a nishan sahib stands .These people dont even know the significance of the Nishan Sahib .

I have seen pious people who pray day and night , yet they speak ill of people behind their backs. Sorry for being extreme but I am just being realistic after my sins are less criminal .

The above group also includes people who weigh others according to the wealth that others possess.
