  1. Jattas in Punjab,India are more proud of being Jatts rather than Sikhs.

Again in varna system Jatts are 3rd out of 4. Why do you think they made a name for them selfs and nowadays they see themselves equal as bramin and khatri sikhs? This social mobilty was avaliable to all.

Shall we never see the end of these caste Divisions . Were Jatts , Khatris,Aroras ,Ramgarhias,Chamars,Labanas born of their own free will into the respective races.
  2. General Brar talked to his men (many of whom were Sikhs) personally on the morning on 5 June 1984, and told them what they planned to do and why they were doing it.[9] He explained to them that it was not a mission against any religion, but against some militants who had defiled the sacred temple. He told his men that they may opt out of the operation, if they wished to. General Brar later said that none of his men, including Sikhs, walked away. In fact, in the unit commanded by Lieutenant Colonel Mohammad Israr (whose ten guards later led the first unit into the temple premises), the Sikh Officer Second Lieutenant Jasbir Singh Raina, raised his hand, and said that he wished to be the first one to enter the Golden Temple to wipe out the militants who had defiled the holiest Sikh shrine.[9]

On the night of 5 June 1984, General Brar's troops stormed the temple premises. General Brar had six infantry battalions and a detachment of commandos under his command. Four of the six senior commanders of his forces were Sikhs.[10] General Brar repeatedly asked his soldiers not to fire in the direction of the Harmindar Sahib, even if the militants fired from that side. He later stated that there was no damage to Harmindar Sahib, except a couple of bullet holes that could have been the militants' fire or odd stray fire from the soldiers.[7

  3. The rule in Sparta was to have as many able bodied sons as possible to protect Sparta. The sons were given Training from the age of 7 years old and left in Jungles to fend for themselves.Similarly Sikhs should have such intentions. But will not the Sikh Brotherhood feelings towards each other decrease if we were to increase population.

  4. Im not disputing that maharaja ranjit singh was of good character...ofcourse he was...but not everything under his rule was lovey dovey...its not a secret that he kept the akalis far away from his court...and he rather trusted non sikhs over his own bretheren...if he had given the akalis more influence in his durbar..then their would still be a raj today...as they would never of allowed the dogras to get close to power...

never mind though..whats done is done...learn from the past concentrate on the future...

But I thought Akali Nihangs Have nothing to do with worldly possessions and this includes Politics

  5. Sounds like a false account, remember there are a lot of fake accounts of people lying about SIkh history for political reasons. The same reason Gupta claims Banda Singh Ji Bahadur never took amrit from Sri Guru Gobind Singh Ji, all political and false agendas.

Also, that's true, if they had brought war during Maharaja Ranjit Singh's time they would have never EVER got close. Everyone loved and respected Mahraja Ranjit Singh despite him lacking in Gurmat. As for what Akali Phula Singh, he did give lashings to Maharaja Ranjit Singh for going to a mela, but Maharaja Ranjt Singh respected him so much that he took it (in a way may have even been scared). Either way, Maharaja Ranjit Singh was a gem to the nation, he was able to admit mistakes and was an amazing leader due to his decisiveness and experience in war. On top of that he was a very humane leader and treated even the people who lost the wars with love and respect.

My dad told me a story that Maharaja Ranjit Singh's court had a place where people could go to get rice if they couldn't afford it otherwise. A man went and had a huge bouri (bag) and asked a soldier or watchman to help him carry it home. The soldier/watchman denied saying he has to watch after the rice, somehow Maharaja Ranjit Singh heard of this matter and he dressed in a cloak and helped the old man carry it home. The old man said you've helped me so much ji, at least tell me your name. Maharaja Ranjit Singh took off his cloak and showed he was Maharaja Ranjit Singh himself, the man fell to his knees out of thankfulness and respect. This is what Maharaja Ranjit Singh's time was like. There were no assassins or anyone wanting to kill Maharaja Ranjit Singh...the only people the Singhs warned Maharaja Ranjit Singh about were the dograys and the "too equal" of a status given to people of other religions. They were able to stab the backs of the Sikhs, which they later on did.

    Are Dogras not sikhs ?

  6. Really? I always thought Khushwant Singh was a questionable character. At least he has some morals.

Khushwant singh was disgusted with the way sikhs were exterminated like Jews and compared the Sikh Massacre with the Jew Genocide and rebuked Zail Singh for his inertness. He criticized the Government for the Atrocities. Everybody Abrades Khushwant for his Pro-Nationalist vies but he has hurled covert expletives and abuses at the Rioteers who were who were paid ( Read Hindutva ) to get involved post partition in the riots against Muslims in the last few chapters of his Book Delhi . He criticizes the Indians for thinking the British were bad when they themselves could stoop to a level which was much more base than what the British had ever fallen to .He describes the atrocities against Sikhs too.
  7. Don't blame Manmohan Singh for that ....

See the view of things from his point of view as well . He is the PM of India . He is an economist as well .

Being a PM , it is natural that people will call him for inaugurations and major worships at not only temples , but gurdwaras , mosques and churches as well ..... because he is a VIP.

It is a shame on the part of people who left those immature , stupid comments on this video like "this guy has no iota of sikhi in him". It just shows how hollow we are ..

"O look , there's manmohan singh drinking jal from mandir ... he is not a sikh now "- LOL !

First , let us look inside us , rather than criticising someone . Manmohan is a genius and a jewel of sikh community and I feel proud of him . The only misfortune is that this jewel has went in some wrong hands and they are exploiting this poor guy to full extent possible ... sleep.gif

If Khushwant singh could give up his padma Bhushan Why Cant this guy give up his post ? Just a question not meant to offend or trigger an argument.

  8. Thanks for all replies. everyone one of them was helful in their own ways.

I feel alot better after reading these posts about my situation. I think I will now stop thinking about the past. And concentrate on the future.

I just feel that after being out of work for so long. I lack motivation and confidence to get back in the work force.

What i did to handle my schizophrenia was think of action everytime i felt there was something that was trying to divert me from my path .

  9. Thank You Khalsa Jis for the empathetic words. I myself take heed to all this , take morale and try to recover , yet succumb to the tendencies when i just turn the corner . I agree that Nitnem , paath does take your mind away from the Loser Type feelings for a white yet isnt it true that God helps those who help themselves. One of my friends long time back gifted me the japji Sahib so ill resolve and do some paath . I also feel good when i do some strength exercises but they give me succour and a feel good feeling only until i go off to sleep and wake up the next morning to find myself in this Big Bad and competitive world where even your cousins are just as good as strangers. I recently fell out with my cousins over some very uncouth issues at my cousin's marriage,I had always adored my cousins but just realized that my cousins dont give a <banned word filter activated> about our relationship and they are better off trusting and sticking to Parayes.

  10. Gur fateh JI

daas will really like to know gursikhs experiences.

Pls can you share it...but you dont have to put yur name.

daas would realli like to know. it makes me feel so happy..

    fatehji :)

    What sort of Experiences ?

  11. Veers I started this topic after seeing someone discuss the issue of ethunasia. The reason why i dont think Suicide is that disgraceful an exit to this world is if one is not able to lead the life he wants to lead and achieve things that he wanted inspite of putting in all his efforts , he should not be compelled to eke out a living like a rat when he dreamt about living like a King all the time.

5 years back i said to myself that it is not the quantity of the years that i lived but its the quality that matters. If i am not able to live the life I wanted to why should i continue to crawl through life , get old and decay and one day just lie and die.But one thing that discourages me from doing it is my Pride as a Sikh . After all who knows which form i might take in my next birth.

  12. wow!! very valuable post by Parwinder Singh veer jee!!

Many of us like me worry about our future - job, school, marriage, and what not; even while doing paath, thoughts dont stop coming into mind. The only way is to surrender yourself to the Guru then there is no worry, because He will be looking out for you!! He will do everything perfect for you. There is no use of pondering over these things, they make you anxious, depressed, scared and weak. So get over with it, Do Naam Simran and remember He is looking out for you. Instead of worrying, remember Him!! Guru Jee is ang-sang, just need to realize Him!!

A Lot of people have asked me too to leave all my worries to Waheguru.Did u succeed ?

  13. I agree on the viewpoint that the perception of sikhi and the mode of presentation matters a lot as to the impression that is created on malleable minds.I am a case in Point. Most of My Cousins are Cut Surds and most of them have studied in Khalsa School where most of the students have got into Drugs, gangs and sexual promiscuity .And i hardly got to witness what actually sikhi is like . My perception of Sikhism was limited to Punjabiyat that meant being a Bully , Nourishing a Machismo , Hogging Whisky,Beer and being Bad ie I hope U understand what i mean. Many of them smoke . I came across the true picture of Sikhi on SikhSangat which helped me understand what it actually means to be a Sikh. Many youth are being misled by the perceptions that these Clean shaven Bhangra Artists create and end up emulating them by adopting their Lifestyle..So All people who think that these Bhangra Artists have achieved something however miniscule it may be are Mistaken as these Bandars are distorting Sikhi.

  14. Veerji,My Left Hand is weak.

I sense it when i try to punch with my Right Hand , i can feel the power originating from my biceps and going right over to my Right Punch .I can feel the strength delivered to the Punch.

But when I do the same with my Left Jab,i cant feel the power running right up to my Jab.My Wrist feels weak ,and as if it doesnt belong to me.I dont feel as confident about my Left Jab as I feel about my Punch . I also feel that My Jab doesnt follow the right shape, line of Power that It should .But It looks perfect .

Could it have something to do with the assymetry of my Body.I have observed the Right side of my Body is more immune to Pain than my Left.My right eye seems better than my Left . The Right side of my jaw seems stronger than my left when it come to chewing something thats hard.Is it Just a Delusion ?

My wrists are weak as in they are thin and not as thick as i have seen with some sikhs such as My cousin who is a Pseudo sikh ( A sikh only By Birth LOL He is a Cut Surd ) His wrists are Heavy .The wrists of some Sikhs are Thick,Large and PowerFul.Mine are thin. But i dont thick that is a problem as I am okay with my Right Hand. But I am just perplexed about my Left. I dont how better to express what i feel abt my Left .

  15. I'm not sure how effective the power ball is going to be here. It will strengthen your tendons which is awesome but in my opinion it wont fix the muscle imbalance.

Do you do any single arm exercises in your workout? For example, single arm dead lift, single arm bent over rows? If you don't, I would highly recommend that you make them a regular part of your workout. Dumbbells make it easier to do such exercises.

Once you build an imbalance in your body, and most people do, doing unilateral movements only make the imbalance worse. Simply because, as you do a exercise, the stronger side takes over. So the key is to always incorporate single leg/arm exercises. Try doing a single leg body weight squat and you will see how tough it really is. Doing single leg/arm movements is the only way to catch the imbalance early and fix it accordingly.

Mind you, it will take many months, likely years, to fix this imbalance. So don't get discouraged if you don't see progress in a matter of weeks. Good luck.

I only do body weights dont get the time to go to a gym. Ya single leg squats are tuf .do single arm bent rows require weights ? i understand deadlifts require weights.

  17. Keep training with free weights, doing compound movements, and strength between the left and right side will balance out over time. By the way, punching technique is more important than brute strength - some boxing lessons will be good and bag work will toughen your wrists too.

i have exhausted myself with compound movements .I have been doing 500 squats ,500 pushups . Yet this weakness continues to lag me .

  18. Hi , VeerJi

I am posting This Here cos i know that the Punjabis/Sikhs are known to be Strong Men.So My issue is that I have weak left Hand . I know its weak when i try to punch against the wall/Hard surface . I have Delicate wrists but i know i have wiry strength . I had been training with Dumbbells for a long time,Then went on to Free hand strength programs like Squats,Pushups,Pullups,Burpees and what not .My left hand remains the same as before .Please Advise.
