You make a valid point. Our prabandakhs are guilty of appointing these bad giani. What is the point in appointing illetarates for such an important job when we have the Taksal. Gianis should come from the Taksal as they have been entrusted with teaching correct pronounciation etc. Too many times our committee wale appoint odd bods over here with Ragi Jatha. A pakhandi who goes by the name of Jasbir came to the UK several years ago as a giani. It has now come to light that this pakhandi has moved to Leicester where he has married another woman despite his wife still living in Wolverhampton. He wrongly used to use Guru Mahraj as part of his thaveet cleansing process. He would do his thaveet trick and then ask the householder to organise a Paat (which of cause he could arrange and do for a small fee). He also sells special herbal medicines which he claims to get from a saadh. In reality they come from a well known herbal medicine shop in Ludhiana. Please keep away from this conman. He has no divine powers or thaveet finding sensors. He is a confidence trickster who after gaining your trust will then ask for loans which going by his history he never pays back.

Why oh why does Mohinder Singh of the Soho Road Jatha not acknowledge the problem and take steps to put right the damage done under his command. If I am not mistaken it was a Soho Road initiative to put some form of rubber membrane in the roof area of the Harimandir Sahib. The Archaeological Survey of India people are no mugs. So is the epoxy layer on the top floor of the Darbar Sahib. Revealing this, B N Tandon, former joint director of the Archaeological Survey of India, regretted that enough steps were not being taken to preserve the glorious heritage at the Darbar Sahib complex. Tandon and his team had conducted a survey of the complex in 2000 to prepare the dossier for grant of USESCO heritage site status. Though the project did not take off due to objections from the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC), Tandon says that some immediate steps should be taken for preservation and conservation of the holy structures. ‘‘I must say that most portions are in good state and do not need conservation, but there are some aspects which need to be taken care of immediately,†Tandon said. He cited the practice of washing the floor of Gurdwara Baba Atal with water drawn from the borewell. ‘‘The Punjab Pollution Control Board has analysed the water and found that the total amount of dissolved solids is very high,†Tandon said. It is better to replace it with clean water that is devoid of such elements. ‘‘One portion of marble at Gurdwara Baba Atal has already turned red, though only the top two millimetres is affected,†he added. Geological examination has revealed the presence of pyrites that easily get oxidised. Tandon added that they were allowed to take only one sample from the complex, and hence a definite conclusion would need more investigation. ‘‘But something is happening. At the Darbar Sahib, the marble is more coloured, perhaps due sulphate’s presence... it could be due to the cement,†he added. ‘‘The top roof has an epoxy covering, which was added much later,†Tandon said, claiming that the epoxy covering was not a part of the original design and was causing more harm than good. SKD merges with SAD (Amritsar) Tribune News Service Amritsar, June 7 In a significant development, Shiromani Khalsa Dal (SKD) of Daljit Singh Bittu today merged with Shiromani Akali Dal (Amritsar), led by Simranjit Singh Mann. This announcement was jointly made by Mann and Bittu at a press conference held at Circuit House here today. While SAD (A) was formed at the behest of the then Jathedar Akal Takht, Prof Manjit Singh, the SKD was formed in April, 2004, even before the release of Bittu from Nabha Jail. With the merger, the SKD stands disbanded. While Mann will continue to be the president of the party, Bittu will be the Senior vice-president. The list of more office-bearers will be announced shortly. Mann and Bittu said they had joined hands to defeat the designs of the Congress and the SAD-BJP. They claimed that the merger would be in the larger interest of the Panth. To a question, they said more Panthic factions might join the unified Akali Dal. Earlier, the Dal Khalsa and the SKD were contemplating to merge into one entity by accepting Bittu as president. However, this unity could not be forged. Heritage being axed at Guru Ka Bagh Varinder Walia Tribune News Service Guru Ka Bagh, June 6 Hundreds of big trees, having heritage value, have been cut at Guru Ka Bagh in the name of kar seva, causing concern among environmentalists. Though the gurdwaras are under the direct control of the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee, no function has been planned to mark the 400th martyrdom anniversary of the fifth Sikh Guru. A visit to the site shows stumps of old trees outside the gurdwara premises. Jathedar Dalip Singh, a former vice-president of the SGPC, said he was shocked to know that the Babas of kar seva wale had cut old trees and the Shiromani committee was turning a blind eye to the issue. The gurdwara had shot into the limelight before Independence when Sikhs launched a morcha (agitation) against a corrupt mahant. When the British government bowed before the pressure of Akalis, who had launched a peaceful agitation to liberate the Sikh shrine from the corrupt mahant, Mahatma Gandhi had sent a wire congratulating the community with a one-liner: “First decisive battle for India’s freedom won.†Guru Ka Bagh is 20 km from Amritsar. The mahant finally handed over the shrine to the Shiromani committee. However, later he repudiated a part of the agreement, saying that though he had surrendered the gurdwara to the SGPC, the piece of land known as Guru Ka Bagh attached to it was still his property. He objected to Sikhs cutting down trees on that land for langar. The police, willing to oblige him, arrested five Sikhs on August 9, 1922, on a charge of trespass. The following day, the arrested Sikhs were hurriedly tried and sentenced to a six-month rigorous imprisonment. The local people have urged the SGPC to check the depleting forest cover adjoining the historical gurdwaras. They rued that though the orchards on a few acres were intact while shady trees, which were once part of the gurdwara structure, had been cut to widen the “parikarmaâ€.

Always the case when they have an encounter in India. Despite it being a country of close to 1 billion the police have no problem identifying those shot. Maybe they have a DNA database of the 1billion people or maybe they picked them up before hand and it was a fake encounter. Then again many terrorists are thick as $hit. The top people may have brains but the foot soldiers are usually very stupid. So I would not rule out them carrying evidence on them which could help trace their names. Mobile phones are commonly found on shot terrorists, from these it does not take a Sherlock Holmes to track back the IMEI to different sim cards and then to trace numbers called.
