Saw this on the Tapoban web site about Shaheed Major Baldev Singh Ghuman. Below is what the son of the respected shaheed wrote. Says it all about our so called "Panthic" leaders. They are nothing but opportunists who will milk events for cheap publicity and to get themselves in newspapers but do not give two hoots about anybody but themselves. "As Kiran Ji said that Mr. SS Mann should have a Shaheedi day for my dad and other singh's, their are some hard realities of life of the families of most Shaheed Singh's; that no one really supported them. In my families case no one came to check on us including SS Mann and Dam Dami Taksal. For me the concept of "panth" have shattered into small pieces. I have learned that most of our "panthi" leaders are just after power and money and they will do anything to get it. People like SS Mann, IK Gujral, Jasbir Singh Rode, were routine visitors at our home when my dad was alive but since his Bhog no one have showed up yet to see if we survived."

Please resist from trying to be spokesperson for Baba Jarnail Singh Ji. He was a true servant of the Panth and never used derogatory words towards anyone and for you to "think" he would calle her "..." is absurd and disrespectful to Baba Ji.

Do you not think there is something murky in the water ? I certainly do. I hold the statements of Shaheed Baba Manochal a lot higher than the integrity of Rode. Just read the extract from the SGPC members book, how did Rode manage to dodge police check points during the Operation Black Thunder so him and his mates could do a mock protest ? I will raise this again and again as I have doubts over Rode and others like Zaffarwal, Dr Chohan etc. Whilst panthic Singh were killed off these "leaders" are happily living in luxury without any problems.

Where is the solid proof about the Soho Road allegations you was making a while back ? ditto with the Smethwick Gurdwara allegations ? You always want solid proof of others but have never provided an iota of proof yourself ! Read the books and if they are lies ask Rode to file defamation cases. Even better next time he is in the UK get him to undergo a polygraph test (plenty of places do them in the UK). You made allegations about missing accounts etc at Smethwick Gurdwara....HOW MUCH OF YOUR MONEY WAS STOLEN/ MISAPPROPRIATED ????? Ummmmmmm....he was a truck driver, suddenly he starts milking the reputation of his uncle Baba Jarnail Singh Ji for his own financial betterment. He gets the trappings of wealth, large koti, cars etc etc despite having no known sources of income to back this up. Allegations about his sarkari links are made (even top militants who later became shaheed make these allegations), his brainwashed followers who think he is the next best thing to sliced bread deny the allegations but make allegations against others to deflect attention away from Rode.

Speaking to reporters here today, Kulwant Singh revealed alleged modus operandi how the Central Government indirectly took the reins of Sikh politics by installing its own mouthpieces on the important religious seats. "The terrorism which was spreading its fangs in the late eighties and early nineties was totally synthetic and Government sponsored", he said. In his book, Kulwant Singh targeted the then Deputy Commissioner Sarabjit Singh for his biased role. The book written by the Deputy Commissioner "Operation Black Thunder- an eye witness account of militancy in Punjab" reveals only one side of the coin and is presenting half truth. Kulwant Singh alleges all the 23 militants arrested by the security forces during the "Operation Black Thunder" were later on released, as these militants sneaked into the Golden Temple with arms and ammunitions in alleged connivance with the Government agencies. Denying the contentions of Sarabjit Singh that arms and ammunitions made way in the Golden Temple in the construction material meant for the Kar Sewa and of Akal Takht, he said "there were several police pickets around the Temple besides presence of policemen in muft inside the temple. In such circumstances, how come that arms found way in temple without being noticed by security agencies. Referring to the tainted role of Sarabjit Singh, Kulwant Singh said "immediately after the Operation Black Thunder, he requested the Deputy Commissioner, for removing human excreta lying in bins inside the temple to restore the sanctity of the Golden Temple. But the Deputy Commissioner acceded to my request only after getting wide publicity in the media". "So much so, Deputy Commissioner Sarabjit Singh, after the Black Thunder Operation, became despot and started his direct interference in the routine SGPC functioning", Kulwant Singh alleged. "Deputy Commissioner Sarabjit Singh directed that each and every activity of the SGPC should be reported to him and no SGPC meeting should be held without his prior consent". He alleged many SGPC employees were seen sitting with the then SSP Izhar Alam to give him daily briefing on the SGPC affairs in 1988. Kulwant Singh further alleged the then Jathedar of Akal Takht Jasbir Singh Rode was working on the behalf of the Government. The things came to light when he refused to accept the security cover offered by the SGPC on a plea that he was having his own arrangements. Later on all his security guards turned out to be the officials from the Government agencies. When Operation Black Thunder was launched on June 11, 1988, the curfew was clamped around the Golden Temple and no body was allowed there, Kulwant Singh said. "But Jasbir Singh Rode who came here from Lundhiana along with his cavalcade of five cars and ammunations was allowed to enact a surrender drama outside Golden Temple". Kulwant Singh said after the Operation Black Thunder it was well established that Jasbir Singh Rode, Jathedar Akal Takht Jaswant Singh, Jathedar Takht Damdama Sahib, Swinder Singh Jathedar of Kesgarh Sahib, Kashmir Singh, Head Granthi of Akal Takht and Gyani Puran Singh Head Granthi of Golden Temple were all the blue eyed persons of the government and were working in the temple to watch the interest of the government. He alleged the district administrations had clear instructions from the high ups to safe guard the interest of these persons at all costs, while on the other hand SGPC was firm on removal of these persons. In a secretly held first executive meeting after the Operation Black thunder in 1988, under it s then President Ujagar Singh Rangreeta, SGPC passed a resolution sacking Jasbir Singh Rode, Jaswant Singh, Swinder Singh and Jathedar of Kesgarh Sahib Kashmir Singh while holding them guilty for their anti panthic (anti religious) activities. At the <admin-profanity filter activated> end of the meeting, the Deputy Commissioner appeared on the scene and demanded the proceedings of the meeting, which SGPC executive refused to divulge. At this all the members were whisked away to the police station, Kulwant Singh alleged. In the meanwhile, when all this drama was going on, one of the executive members gave a slip to the police and escaped from the scene. He flashed the proceedings of meeting to the media to add to the embarrassment of the administration, he said

Very good point. Appears that some people give him huge respect because he is Baba Jarnail Singh's restidar. They defend everything about him and how he has accumulated wealth. They try and promote him by highlighting that he pays for weddings of Shaheed children etc (well this money is collected for this purpose and does not come out of Rode's own pocket) They on the one hand claim to be Khalistani yet they back up Jasbir Rode who made statements that we did not need full independence (incidently it was at this time that a few leading panthic militants who later became shaheed also accused him of being a sarkari agent). These people on the one hand claim to be against the RSS, GOI etc yet on the other hand go out the way to protect Rode who is one of a few people who did well out the troubled years in Punjab milking the reputation of Baba Jarnail Singh Ji. From driving trucks in the middle east to owning a large koti. Reminds me of that high ranked policeman who managed to buy a large koti with swimming pool in Jullundhar during the troubles of the 1980s. Appears as if some people gained financially during these troubled years. Whilst are youth were being killed in fake encounters and our sisters being abused and raped some people were busy making financial fortunes.

Yes Ranjit Singh and Prof Darshan Singh were not giani but again they lacked the bottle to take on the SGPC bigwigs. Giani Puran Singh did bad becasue he failed to act against Badal who had just flouted a Hukumnama issued by Ranjit Singh (Badal just sacked Ranjit Singh rather than appear before the Akal Takht) . Giani Puran Singh could have made his mark by taking action against Badal but like the others he did not have the backbone to go against Badal. Same as Ranjit Singh who failed to take action against Tohra for visiting the Nirankhari bhawan in Patiala. Jagiro expelled him as for some reason over the years the SGPC/Akali Dal have developed a stranglehold over the Akal Takht. They do as they please give alcohol out during SGPC elections and because the Akal Takht JAthedar are so scared they do nothing.

OK the title was mis-worded and I apologise for that but we all know the gist of this debate and it centres around the Akal Takht Jathedar & secretariat etc who have undertaken acts of corruption. No good putting a Giani up for the role of a Akal Takht Jathedar, Giani Vedanti and Giani Puran Singh have both shown how Giani are unsuitable for this position. As someone once if you put scooter tyres on a tractor it is useless for farming. We need someone who is not scared of Badal and co. Might be an idea to start having a Nihang as Jathedar as they have done the job in the past and punished people regardless of who they are. eg Akali Phool Singh Ji punishing Maharaja Rhunjeet Singh. The pressure is on Vedanti to quit now as voice recordings of him and his relative Sandhu show that Vedanti agreed with the Sandhu and the committee (he earlier denied this).

I do not think there is any point having a meeting as it will achieve nothing at this stage. A better step would be to find out when Vedanti will next be in the UK and then arrange a meeting with him. Before the meeting with Vedanti a meeting with the youth could be held or even opinions/questions collected from forums like this so our brothers and sisters from other countries can also contribute to the process. When all the questions have been collected they could be presented to the GurSikh on this forum and then these questions put to Vedanti at the meeting. The answers could then be put on this web site or even a video made and hosted in a format suitable for quick and easy download.

How come it has taken Rode so long to do a press release ? The sarakri allegations were well publicised in January 2005. Does it take a few months to do a press release ? What was the reason for the delay ? If someone makes allegations against you and these are reported in the press then it is human instinct to deny them straight away if he/she feels they have been maligned. Also what action Rode taking against the various newspapers that reported he had sarkari links and against the Dhar who wrote Open Secrets ?

The Akal Takht predates Khalistan and some great GurSikhs like Akali Phoola Singh have held the post of Jathedar. No need to have a Khalistan connection.

Interesting how the current Jathedar was chosen. The previous Jathedar Giani Puran Singh excommunicated the head of the SGPC Jagir Kaur, so as head of the SGPC she ignored his edict (which was issued by Panj Singh, remember even Guru Gobind Singh Ji respected the request of Panj Singh) sacked him and put Giani Vedanti on the kursi. Prior to Puran Singh it was Ranjit Singh who was Jathedar, he was doing an ok job until he also got caught up in politics and cleared Tohra of visiting the Nirankharis bhavan in Patiala (straight after he was cleared Tohras side kicks admitted he had visited the bhavan and this was widely reported) as expected Ranjit Singh did not bother to summon Tohra again. Ranjit Singh then got sacked because he annoyed Badal. Vedanti has petitions lying left right and centre and all he carea about is trading tirades and charges against the Patna Sahib Jathedar. He ignores the violation of Maryada by Badal and co but instead involves himself into trying to degenirate the Patna Sahib Jathedar. His stance over this film has shown how naive and fickle he is. Whislt the rest of the Sikh Panth are concerned he does not give two hoots and changes his stance as often as people change their kachere. He has turned our prestigious Akal Takht into a political and commercial QUANGO by his lacklustre leadership and stance on issues.

A few years ago the Akal Takht cleared a "baba" of raping a minor. A relative of Vedanti who was his assistant was accused of accepting a bribe to favour the baba. Later the baba was found guilty of rape by a court. This same relative, Prithipal Singh Sandhu who is now an non-official personal assistant also went to watch this sunny deol film even though he was not on the Akal Takht committee . Begs the question what the heck was he doing ? Was he accepting bribes again ? Somehow even though there are petitions to the Akal Takht lying unattended for many months (like the Respect for Guru Ji Campaign ones) this matter is prioritised and a decision made in a few days Vedanti has now done a u-turn. This man should be sacked as Jathedar of the Akal Takht. He has become a liability for the Sikh panth with his silly decisions.

Jathedar are selected by the SGPC on political whims. Things have come to the stage where the SGPC thinks it is bigger than the Akal Takht. The SGPC dimwits should know that the Akal Takht predates them by centuries and as such they have no right to select Jathedar. Vedanti has now changed his mind and come up with some rubbish statements. I think the whole institution of the Akal Takht has become corrupt. Once again in this case as with when Vedanti cleared "Baba" Dhanwant Su of rape his relative who was accused of taking bribes also went to see the film in Mumbai. Looks as if someone is on the take. Time this Jathedar was replaced and investigated for accepting bribes.

Please dont bother writing to any one. The Akal Takht has cleared the film so if you try and ban it you will be going against the Akal Takht decision that the film is OK. So maybe this is a strategic decision, Chadhas film gets cleared and SGPC members gets lots of free booze to give out at SGPC election time. The Akal Takht Jathedar is scared of the SGPC so doe snot want to do anything that might knock him off his kursi.

Takht panel clears ‘Jo Bole So Nihal’ Jupinderjit Singh Tribune News Service Ludhiana, May 11 A committee of eminent experts on Sikh religion formed by the Akal Takht Jathedar, Giani Joginder Singh Vedanti, has given a clean chit to controversial film “Jo Bole So Nihal” even as the outrage against the movie continues, with some organisations determined not to allow its screening at any cost. The committee has instead praised the movie. Following the committee verdict, whose six members saw the movie at a special show screened in Mumbai, Mr Amarjit Singh, president, Akal Market Association and petitioner against the film, has withdrawn his petition filed in the Punjab and Haryana High Court demanding a ban on the movie. Jathedar Vedanti has, in a communication to Mr Amarjit Singh, sent him the report of the committee about the movie. Mr Amarjit Singh said the report of the committee was the final word on the controversial movie by Akal Takht and he decided to withdraw his petition despite having some reservations about the movie. The committee has not only issued a clean chit to the movie but has praised the makers and the hero of the film, Sunny Deol, for a realistic portrayal of a Sikh, besides upholding the true values of Sikhism in the film. The film is being distributed by liquor baron Ponty Chadha. The committee members who saw the screening of the movie in Hari Kunj, Khar Mumbai, were Mr Gurjit Singh, Mr Sarbjit Singh, Mr Ajit Singh, Mr Prabinder Singh, Mr Joginder Singh and Mr Prithipal Singh. The committee has listed eight points after watching the movie. It said that the film was not a religious movie; the hero had firm faith in the Waheguru and overcame all obstacles because of his faith and there was no attempt to hurt the religious feelings of Sikhs in the film. It said a villain in the film, after assuming the attire of a Sikh, tried to consume tobacco but the mother of the hero slapped him and gave the right message to the viewers about the tenets of Sikhism. The committee also noted that Sunny Deol, the hero of the movie, insisted on growing his beard and used to tie the turban afresh. He had also employed a Sikh to help him in tying the turban. The committee has, however, directed the director and the producer of the movie to mention specifically in advertisements and promotions of the movie that it was not a religious film. It has also ordered that no poster or scene should be pasted or carried in the advertisements which did not correspond to the title ‘Jo Bole So Nihal’.
