  1. For serious advice then please contact the Sikh Awareness Society http://www.sasorg.co.uk/contact.html They will be able to look into the matter in more detail and to arrange a meeting with the couple to be. The service is 100% Confidential and non-judgemental so no-body else will need to know.
  2. WJKK WJKF Guru de pyar-e-o From my experience these sort of questions come from those who have taken Amrit recently. This is the age of Kal Yug. It is very rare to see anything PURE in this world anymore. That is why we have Gurbani as our weapon to protect our spirituality. It is only by increasing our daily dosage of Bani, Katha, Veechar and naam abhiaas whilst fulfilling our obligations as Gursikhs in the world that we can purify our souls. This is enhanced by watching what we eat and drink, and from whom we receive it, but we MUST STOP getting so tied up in the physical aspects of Sikhi that we lose sight of what we are really meant to be doing? This doesn't mean that you should not scrutinise the contents of food, to ensure it doesn't contain the foods forbidden by the Panj Pyare, rather don't get so worried if you unknowingly consume something you shouldn't. If you continue down the, pardon me for saying this, the "AKJ" path then you will end up not eating anything nutritional. You have a duty to your body as well as your Spirit. When it comes to hormones injected into cows etc then in the UK and Europe they are not allowed to do it. I saw a documentry on BBC one about this and this practice only occurs in the USA in privately run dairies. In India they get the calfs to suckle first before removing it and milking the cow/buffalo. So did the Praatan Sikhs commit a sin?? The issue of Daya is not relevant to this post!! We should be grateful to Waheguru for everything we have been given to eat and drink because there are people out there who don't have anything to eat. Bhul chuk maaph Humble Regards Daasakedaas
  3. I would hazard a guess that you're under 30 and have not experienced much of the world outside of Sikhi, and maybe even outside of the UK (or whichever country you reside in)?? May I recommend that you get some time in...!! and more importantly get out amongst the non-amritdhari community to gain an appreciation of what their views are. We as amritdharis sometimes think we are superhuman and superior, when actually we must remember that we are the dust beneath the feet of others. This the last post I will submit to this thread. Please forgive me if I have offended you in any way by posting my remarks. Humble regards Daasakedaas
  4. Funny that! When I spoke to a member of the BSSF in 2009 he didn't entertain the fact that I mentioned Sant Jarnail Singh Bhindranwale. I was told that if I am going to mention Sant Ji then he and most probably others may not wish to talk to me about initiatives that I was presenting at the time. So, how can the BSSF be trying to "WAKE UP" and lead the youth????
  5. May I enquire how old you are and how long you have been an Amritdhari Sikh? Also, how did you come into Sikhi? This is just for my personal knowledge.
  6. WJKK WJKF Hi There, Just wanted to say that organisers were trying a new approach to attracting the Youth to the Gurdwara. I must admit this approach, although not conventional and not conforming to the Guru Ghar Maryadha, worked. The thing is that we should think about innovative ways of attracting sangat to the Gurdwaras, because once they are in then we can preach what is the right thing and what is wrong. This isn't going to happen if the Divaan is EMPTY or full of those who are already on the path!! Why preach to the converted? The Sikh Awareness Society were a little reserved when they were asked to present at the venue but the outcome was very positive and the impact the presentation made on the sangat far outweighed the argument of whether these siingers should have been allowed to perform on a Gurdwara stage. http://www.sasorg.co.uk/news.html WJKK WJKF Daasakedaas
