  1. @ SevadaarEKhalsa - Wow. Is that how much income the SGPC generates? If our Gurus were amongst us today (you know what I mean), would they allow the caretakers of our Gurudwaras to hoard money and waste it on God knows what, instead of distributing it amongst the poor and helping society? Yet they still have the gall to call themselves true Sikhs and take lofty positions of authority in Sikhi? Shame on them and they WILL have to answer for all their misdeeds when their lives are over.

Why can we identify these issues and causes to help our fellow Sikh brothers and sisters, yet those who are in a position to do something seem oblivious to it all? Are we wrong? Are we missing out on some vital detail that means we're not grasping the truth of the situation? The mind boggles.

Yes that their income. Only Harmandar Sahib has over 2 lac devotees daily, if they even give 5 rupees each it makes it 10 lac a day. And most of the NRIs donate a LOT. Heres an example:

Amritsar: The Managing Director of the Singapore-based Thukral Group of Companies, Arvinder Singh, and Sarabjit Singh, offered 8 gold watches to the Manager of the Sri Harmandir Sahib Gurudwara, Harbans Singh Malli. The Information officers of the Gurudwara, Jasvinder Singh Jassi and Gurbachan Singh were also present.

They will have to pay for their misdeed but we have got to stop this system, is this any better than the Masand system Guru Ji abolished? Don't donate at Indian Gurdwaras anymore, or donate just a minimal amount. Donate to poor Sikhs/Shaheedi parivaars and organisation working for Panth.

As a British Sikh, this whole 'christian' thing is difficult to understand given the fact that here, and throughout Europe, Christianity is more of a museum relic rather than an actual functioning religion in existence. Probably even more so in England where even the supreme archbishop publicly states that he can't state for sure that god exists. Here, Christianity is seen more as the religion of the new immigrants from Africa. In wider society, seen as a religion for those that are not too clever, to put it mildly. So......when we read about its spread in Punjab it surprises us. Coz we didn't even realise there were still any christians around. Now this is where our American and Canadian friends fit into the story. We here in England go on about the spread of Islam and never mention Christianity because lets face it, christianity is as dead as a dodo here. But in north America Christianity is actually not a museum piece.....its actually still alive. Very much alive. It is them that are spreading christianity in Punjab. In Punjab, they find likeminded not very well read, not very well cultured, not very educated peoples. I see it all the time in Canada. Coming from England its one of the first things you notice because its so alien to us. Punjabi Christian churches all over the place. So so many of them. The Englandians keep going on about sikh girls in the UK converting to Islam but how many times do you hear about north American Sikhs complaining about Sikh girls converting to Christianity......even though their christianity conversions outnumber the uk islam conversions by 100 to one. You probably all noticed how that politician Nikki Hayley (formerly Randahwa) makes a big deal of her christianity to get elected.........whereas in England, it would be political suicide for a politician to proclaim his christianity. He'd never get elected because everyone would think he's an <banned word filter activated>. Now....I realise that things are different in the UK. That kind of Punjabi christianity would never be allowed here. The local Sikhs AND muslims AND hindus would kick up an almighty fuss....and the authorities, who don't like christianity anyway, would shut these punjabi churches down immediately in the interests of social cohesion.

But....our Americam and Canadian friends have done nothing to check this growth........these newly converted christians now fullfill their duty as missionaries by going to Punjab......and we're all paying the price. You wanna sort this problem....then you go to the source of the problem. The source of the problem is in Vancouver and Toronto.

    Your right.

Christianity is dying in (West) Europe, but as you pointed out very much functioning in Northern America and even Australia. Only the other day my friend from Canada was telling how 2 Punjabi Christian aunties went from door to door trying to win converts.

I saw a poster some time ago from Australia which had a photo of a Sikh couple converting to Christianity with the title 'from Sikhdom' to freedom' - proper Behzti.

The thing is that our communities have different problems all over - we can't just say that one religion is our enemy. We have to defend our beloved Sikhi from all sides.

  2. We already don't have a big majority in Punjab, it was 59% in 2001. If it continues like this within ten years we shall be a minority: 35% Sikh (that too mostly by name), 50% Hindu (bhaiyya influx), 10% Christian (high conversion rate of poorer sections of society) and 5% muslim (gujjar influx).

SGPC have an annual budget of over 1000 crore rupees, where do they spend it? They eat half of it, and to fool the masses they (unnecessarily) renovate some Gurdwaras (destroying the original marble etc).

  3. I know, thats why I support Khalsa Aid and there work that prevents poor Sikhs to take such drastic steps. But we keep crying about Hinduisation but forget growing Islam (due to Gujjars - I have heard first hand accounts how some of them spit while passing by Gurdwaras) and Christianity in Punjab?

Paneer veer, you got it. They use Sikh appearence and vocabulary to fool uneducated masses. Their pastors usually keep the Sikhi saroop even after converting to fool us. They use Satsang instead of congregation, Satguru for Jesus etc.

Then there are the so called lower caste people who also have gotten into this trap and adopted Ravidasia 'religion' instead of Sikhi.

One suggestion; When you go India, don't offer more than 100rs while matha tekking. Use the remaining money to give to the poor for education, etc.

Afterall Gareeb da Munh, Guru Di Golak.

Why are we turning a blind eye to all this?

There were 292,800 Christians in whole Punjab in 2001 (census).

Now there are 900,000. Thats what they say, exaggerated figures? Yes maybe, but their numbers have atleast doubled.

"In Punjab, there are around 900,000 Christian voters and the largest chunk, 17 percent, reside in Gurdaspur district. Here their number is over 150,000. After Gurdaspur, maximum Christian voters are in Amritsar, Ferozepur and Ludhiana districts," Kanwal Bakshi, state president of Punjab's United Christian Front (UCF), told IANS.

One guy named Harbhajan Sion (in videos too) alone convert 2800 people from his village.

John Dayal, secretary general of the All India Christian Council, said there is a new openness to Christ in the state.

"Punjab has had a traumatic 20 years," Dayal said. "Currently there is … joblessness, drug addiction, easy money, and division between Hindus and Sikhs. In search of a path, people are turning to Christ for the healing of body, mind, and soul."

    .............

Over the last several years, several thousand Sikhs, many of them Dalits, have left Sikhism for Christianity. In April, 200 Dalits converted in the town of Moga. Another 48 converted in Amritsar, the province's capital and home to Sikhism's revered Golden Temple. Precise overall figures are not available, however. Many Sikhs who convert keep their ethnic names, so tracking them is difficult. More importantly, Christians do not publicize mass conversions for fear of inciting local wrath, which is becoming a problem.

Pastor apologises to Sikh Panth, averts communal confrontation.

Kapurthala, Feb 15 2004 (PTI) A pastor running a church in the district Sunday tendered a written apology to the Akal Takht and the Sikh Panth for making derogatory remarks against the Sikh Gurus and Sikh holy book Guru Granth Sahib, averting a possible confrontation between the two communties.

Pastor Harbhajan Singh of Khojewal village of northern Indian state of Punjab also postponed Sunday's prayer meeting at his church.

Kapurthala police had registered a criminal case against Harbhajan Singh and two others for distributing objectionable posters against the Sikh Gurus in the villages on February 2.

Agitated over this, Sikh youths had entered the open …
  5. All this has been romanticized by Bollywood movies For example Saif ali khan meets his paramour in a gurdwara in Love aaj Kal ,salman khan meets preity zinta in a gurdwara in Heroes-Lets get our Heroes Home , Bobby deol meets mehak in a gurdwara .

Shahid Kapoor sees Kareena in Gurdwara too in Fida...

  6. WJKK WJKF

As those that have been healed by Waheguruji have stated they went to a camp, is it necessary to go to a camp, or can one do path or simran at home if they have an illness?

Also if anybody could please advice does bani have to be said out aloud, as i find it hard to do that, can one do path/simran in ones mind?

    thank u ji for listening

Not necessary. They have listed a set of Sabads you have to recite on their site:

    http://www.gurunanak...ation/guide.htm

Full guide is on their site.

They say that you have to do it out loud, you yourself have to hear your voice (its stated in the film too).

this is malkit dhillon , isn't he ?

Mangal Singh Dhillon - Bollywood actor who became a Sikh filmmaker.

  7. I totally agree. I mean i just heard that such marriage is allowed if a boy from the grooms side marry his bhabis sisters / cousin sisters, but why isn`t it possible for the girl to do the same. As far as i know the gurus gave men and women equal rights, and I have never heard of such rule before. I mean the cast is the same, religion is the same and no blood realtions, then what makes it impossible? and plz again if anyone of u have a example where such event has taken place plz let me know. Thank u

I don't see why women aren't allowed to do that. Both men and women can marry anyone who is not blood related. Older generations abstained from marrying in fathers, mothers and both grandparents last name.

(Only exception in this are some Khatris who do intermarry with blood relations.)

  8. Is there a way to help him, if we want to send funds or any other way.

Actually we were to send money via western union, but if many people want to send, it be loss on Sangats parts (all their charges!). If SikhSangat could setup a temporary page where people can donate, and then send Sangats maya to Pak via western union.

Whats his phone number ... there is jatha from patiala in pakistan right now i will forward the phone number they can contact him and visit him personally ...

    Check your PM.

  9. Got the news personally from a Singh in Pakistan. The Singh in question confirmed this today when I called him up.

Anyone wishing to contact the Singh can get his phone number via pm.

He is a very enthousiastic Singh. Despite all hardships he tried to preach Sikhi amongst Hindus of his area. Probably this didn't go down well with those Brahmins. He was on the forefront to start this organisation (altough not much has been done till date - due to lack of volunteers/funds).

  10. Lone Sikh family attacked by Brahmin mob in Tharparker, Pakistan

MITHI, May 23: Sikh family was targeted in Pakistan Thar desert, at the hands of extremist Hindus mob led by Brahmins, enjoying unprecedented power encouraged by local police and administration. Sardar Jagjit Singh Khalsa, the head of the poor family was seriously injured by gun-toting and baton-slinging on Saturday night.

Fed up of untouchability, caste discrimination and human inequality, Jagjit

Singh had converted to Sikhism a few years back and had been and icon of hatred for the local Brahmins since then. Wearing traditional Sikh turban and decorating small sword-like dagger on his vest, Jagjit Singh lived in a quarter of a Brahmin Mangha Ram Sharma, who was convicted of corruption but fled to India ahead of conviction taking a booty of multi-million rupees. Mangha Ram was a Mukhtiarkar in Sindh Revenue Department posted in Left-BankOufall Drainage project and fled to India. On 16-03-2005, Special Judge (Anti-Corruption) Hyderabad had also declared him absconder u/s 512 and issued proclaimation under 87 Cr. PC and ordered to attach his movable or immovable property under 88 cr.Pc. Thus these quarters are government property now.

On Saturday night a mob of a few hundred people, mostly Brahmins led by Mangha Ram’s brother-in-law Tulja Ram Joshi, Choith Ram Joshi, Dholo Joshi, Suneel S/O Jagdesh, and Lonio Sharma carrying weapons, axes and batons and fire arms, raided the quarter rented by Jagjit Singh Khalsa, with intent to kill him and severely wounded, but his wife and children saved him by shielding him and crying for help. They threw out his belongings after looting the valuables. Though subjected to murderous attack, the local police is not registering FIR of Jagjit singh, and entire Tharparker district administration stood behind the Brahmins due to their MNA Mahesh Malani, whose family is also preparing to flee from the country and is minting and

amassing millions of rupees through corruption in government contracts.

The poor Sikh, who was born in a Dalit/Scheduled Castes family, ran from pillar to post for help but no one listened his cries due to the fear of reprisal by Brahmins. Even local media people are shy to report the incident for fear or liking for the local Brahmins.

It has become a routine for Brahmins in Tharparker district to occupy plots of Dalits and dislodge them from the homes in Tharparker but no one takes notice for reasons unknown.

Jagjit Singh has appealed all the patriotic people including Government, apex court and human rights activists to come to his rescue and announced to hold hunger strike for justice.

This Singh is our Sevadaar and the only Sikh (with his family) in southern Sindh.

  11. We had our Akali Fauj under Gursikhs like Akali Baba Phoola Singh

Plus we had the greatest generals like Bhai Hari Singh Nalwa, Bhai Sham Singh Attariwala, etc.

Besides that he had a set of loyal Punjabi Muslims, wheter in his army or even Darbar such as Fakir Azizzudeen who was the chief minister of the kingdom.

When George Eden (1st Earl of Auckland) asked Fakir Azizuddin which of the Maharaja's eye was missing, he replied: "the Maharaja is like the sun and sun has only one eye. The splendour and luminosity of his single eye is so much that I have never dared to look at his other eye.'

It were the Dogra Rajputs of Kashmir that betrayed our Raaj. They took 75 lakhs from Lahore Treasury and bhought Jammu Kashmir for themselves. Gaddaars.

  12. (from another forum)

A rare vaar written by the Supreme 6th Masters Dhadis Bhai Abdullah and Bhai Nathmall:

Sacha takht Suhaeo Sri Gur paeke

Shab barni nahin jae kahon kia gaeke

Rav ras bhae maleen sudras dikhaeke

Sri Guru Takht beraje prabhu tehaeeke

Mir Abdul auo Natha jas kahe banaeke

I think some more are available, so please post them here.

  13. Waheguru

Nahi veerji, I didn't mean it in that way. It was your duty to inform that this text is not in line with Gurmat, and you did. What I said was just on a small note.

Thanks for uploading it DalSingh, and agree with your point of view.

  14. Yes Prabhjot veerji, I know neither Sikhan Di Bhagat Mala (Bhagat Ratnavli) nor Gyan Ratnavli are by Bhai Mani Singh. Yet we can't deny that they were written between 1720s and 1760s, so '''might''' contain any useful info.

One small benti, do not mind Prabhjot veerji. You have higher avastha than me, I am just a moorakh, but do not blindly believe everything in Mahan Kosh either. Bhai Kahan Singh did an amazing seva but he did say that Sri Sarbloh Granth was not the rachnaa of Dasam Pita.

Please scan the translation Sikha veer.

  15. Any site, pdf or booklet with brief introduction with the main enemies of the Panth ? Everyone knows about Sirsa, Bhaniara, Ashutosh, Radhasoamias, but there are many other not so known ones. Better to crush these snakes before they get too famous.
