Last year saw many many excellent banners and placards. Many of them produced by the SF and Leciester sangat.

Everyone do you best to come up with eye catching posters, banners and placards.

Also you night want to work on slogans - "Indra Gandi - marro jhutti" aint going to work too well with the Non Sikh population. If you have any good slogans please post them here. Large groups of Sikhs shouting good slogans will get us noticed as well.

Also produce your own leaflets and hand them out to passerbys. Stick the some website addresses on them for further info - eg http://sikhgenocide.org http://www.neverforget84.com etc etc

Try and engage th general public in conversation - you'll be surprised at how often people will want to know more. And if you can stick a leaflet in their hands as well then all the better.

Some years ago, a number of us London based Sikhs marched under a banner of British Sikhs against the War - when the Iraq war plans were hotting up. We had people rushing over to shake our hands and talk to us; they wanted to ask us about the situation in Punjab; many would say "Oh I have Sikh friends ... I didnt reliase there would be Sikhs here"; and much more. We also handed out leaflets protesting the death sentence against Prof. Davinderpal Singh Bhullar. There were over a million people at these marches and a small contingent of Sikhs like us stood out a mile among the masses and it was a very encouraging and all round positive experience.

Good banners will get you and the cause noticed.

Informing people (including ourselves) is a lot better than informing no one.

Go for it.

It looks Bhai Amrik Singh to me. Someone please correct if my eyes are muddled.

Bhai Amrik Singh was the leader of the AISSF - All India Sikh Students Federation. he achieved shaheedi along with all the shadeeds at Harminder Sahib in June 84. You will find him in many pictures alongside Shaheed Sant Jarnail Singh Ji.

The car in front of me this morning in the traffic jam on the way to work - contained the letters RKR in it's registration plate.

Can't argue with that kind of coincidence ;-)

The Widow Colony accesses the living conditions of the widows and the orphans, of the Delhi Pogroms of 1984, where thousands of Sikhs were brutally murdered with the help of the Government.

The interviews with the widows reveal that even though they have learned to continue on with their livelihood, a large part of their psyche remains trapped in 1984. With their families torn and traumatized these widows and children live in a segregated ghetto of New Delhi, Tilak Vihar. They have been fighting for justice for 20 years and now their children fight with the problem of drugs and unemployment. The perpetrators of these crimes remain free, the victims remain forgotten.

After twenty years, the torture they endured and the sacrifices they made are still fresh on our minds. They will forever be remembered in our daily prayers.

This video outlines the events leading up to 1984, starting from the partition through 1978. Priminister Nehru called Sikhs "a menace." From the very beginning, Sikhs have been treated unfairly.

In 1978, government backed Nakli Nirankaris marched on Amritsar shouting obscenities at Sikhs and Sri Guru Granth Sahib. Nakli Nirankari Baba Gurbachan claimed that if Guru Gobind Singh made the Panj Pyaare, he would make the sat sitare or seven stars.

When Sikhs protested the march peacefully, the Nirankaris attacked the Sikhs with guns. Shamefully, Indian police helped the Nirankaris gun down the unarmed Sikhs. Thirteen Sikhs were martyred.

In June of 1984, on the martyrdom day of Guru Arjun Dev Ji, the Indian Army stormed the Darbar Sahib. The Darbar Sahib was full of thousands of men, women and children. All of Punjab was cut off from the rest of the world and all journalists were forced to leave.

The army attacked Darbar Sahib with tanks, helicopters, and heavy artillery. Men, women and children were gunned down by the army of their own country. Those who surrendered were shot at point blank range.

Men had their hands tied behind their backs with their turbans and were executed. The few Sikhs who were armed fought like lions keeping the fight raging on for a week. The army completely destroyed Sri Akal Takhat Sahib, the highest seat of temporal authority in Sikhi.

Those Sikhs who promised to die defending darbar sahib kept that promise...

It then goes to show a speech about 1984 in the US House of Representatives. The camera angle shows that nobody is there listening or watching, empty seats, perhaps somewhat symbolic of how the world refuses to address what happened.

Please provide detailed information to the above so that people can clearly decide
