    Gurfateh Ji,

Recently, Sant Anoop came to America and is still here I believe. I know this because I saw him a few times here in Maryland. His kirtan was absolutely amazing... I was wondering if anybody recorded any of the kirtan he did while he was in America, either Maryland, or anywhere else... Or if anybody has access or knows where to download them from, because I would really like these recorded shabads... They were amazing... Thank you...

  5. My Fav is Bhai Harjinder Singh Ji Sri Nagar Wale.

Sahib Singh may not be knowing it, but yes, he has a vast knowledge of Raags. I have had the honor of doing reyaaz with bhai sahib for sometime. While doing reyaaz, the only style you wil hear from him is classical. He is a real gem. Pakhandi??? he is miles away from pakhand. The man as humble as him and a true gursikh is one of the very few Kirtania who is nitnemi, and does keertan with pyaar.

I remember once in Ludhiana , we invited him to do keertan. That night, he had to rush his mother to the hospital ( she is no more). After admitting her to the hospital he came to do keertan. I think that night, he was so much INTO it that we decided to let him take as much time as he wants. Bhai sahib did keertan for about 90 mins and not a soul moved. He sang a shabad "Dukhia Dardmand, Dar ayea, bahut Pyaas jawab na paya" in such a soulful manner that it moved sangat to tears. He has not recorded that shabad yet.Mind you, he did not come there to collect money. He just wanted us to pray for his mother. He is one of the very few raagis, who still preach and not merely sing.

    Jasdeep Singh

U guys really need 2 lighten up and get away from this fundamental thinking.

anyone that can get closer to guru ji, let it be through raag/light kirtan/katha/kavi/taarnas etc is doing something good! u people really got to stop thinking backward.

As long as they do not disrespect Guru Jis teaching, at the end of the day the only thing, that is different is the style.

u seem to be quick at pointing out bad things in people u shud also look at the good that they are doing.

and for your information sahib singh

Bhai Harjinder Singh has an extensive knowledge of raags, he learnt from the missionary college in amritsar, just because not every shabd he sings is in raag does not mean he is a pakandi kirtani.

it seems u need to get ur facts right before u speak, look into what ur saying before saying it and furthermore it seems that instead of trying to unite people together ur trying to just cause trouble

  6. I Donot Support changin the name of the Airport or Any other public place to my Guru's Name.

Airport have all kind of people who may come drunk, smoke, doing all kinds of Nasha, shops inside the airport selling liquor, tobacco and all that anti sikhi stuff.

Why wud you want your Guru's name be associated with such a place where all these things are present?

This is applicable to all the public places. I dont know why we feel so proud to associate such places with our Guru's name. If you travel on GT road, you will find a numerous Guru Nanak Dhabas, where all kinds of filthy stuff is being sold. Guru Nanak Public school (I was a student of one), where nothing related to Guru Nanak is taught. That day is not far when you might even see a Desi Theka under a Guru's name.

    So stop this nonsense.

  7. thank you. Anyone else

Located in Jawaddi Village, Ludhiana near Basant Vihar. They organise Raag Based Kirtan Darbar Called Adutti gurmat smagam every year. Founded by Late B. Sucha Singh. I have visited it many times, when I used to live in Ludhiana, mostly coz of some of my friends who used to learn Kirtan at that place. Some various keertanis like Bhai Nirajan Singh Jawaddi are product of this place. Some controversies popped up, enough to stop me from visiting it.

  8. lol! Kumi likes Bhai Harjinder Singh ji big time! we all do tongue.gif

Is this the Bhai Sahib who Alpha Punjabi plays the beautiful shabad:

Yea London Singh, Its the same Bhai Sahib.

I have known him since I was 5. Now I am 28. We were neighbours for abt 7-8 years. He loves kids. Very nice and jovial nature and soothing voice too. They made a gr8 team with his elder bro Bhai Harjinder Singh Sri Nagar. I honestly think that both are incomplete without each other.

    May Waheguru unite them again.

  9. Pray Truth for all and say Satsriakal!

    Jasdeep22 Ji!

You wrote about lighting up a Deeva (lamp) "It is pure Manmat and . . .  this practice can be put to an end."

And in this post you wrote "I dont know where I said that Sikhs shud not light any Deevas . . ."

Our Gurus never asked us to stop using Deevas in Gurudwaras.

Rather the Gurbani says AMDkwr dIpk prgwsy ]

    "anDhkaar deepak pargaasay."

    Darkness is lightened by lamp.

Strange is that you suggest rejecting Deevas as spiritual symbol.

Jasdeep 22 Ji, please elaborate. How Aartee is performed when our mind is busy throwing lamps out of Gurudwaras?

You also wrote "and as I said, IT IS DESCRIBED IN SIKH REHAT MARYADA THAT LIGHTING DEEVA IS MANMAT. Read the Rehat Maryada PLEASE.

    This answers it."

I have not read 'Sikh Rehat Maryada'. I am still not convinced that it is one of my Gurus.

By the way is this the same Sikh Maryada you have referred here amended by SGPC which you are criticizing in the other thread titled 'Rehat Maryada'?

    Love to all

    Pyare Veerji,

The deevas that u are refering to in the Gurbani Quotes are all refering to NAAP Dipak or Shabad as Deeva........non of those refer to the burning a clay deeva for Spiritual sense.

If everyone was to attain God by burning Deevas of clay, then on Diwali in India everyone lights Deevas.........that means everyone shud be able to attain God that day????

Bhaji Gurbani refers to Naam da deeva to be lit inside ur own self. Please try to understand the meaning of those quotes. U are just taking the literal meaning of the word deeva. Please try to understand the Bhaav Arth.

The amendments that I am talking about Sikh rehat Maryada are not related to any Deeva issue. I was talking about those changes which are needed with time. Every constitution makes amendments so shud we, in our Rehat Maryada, which has missed certain issues like Child Abortion etc. and By the way, I did not criticise it. I just voiced my opinion that certain issues which were not addressed shud be discussed.

I am not trying to mislead anyone. People are good enough to decide who is right and who is wrong.

Sikh Rehat Maryada shud be read by every sikh. If you havent read it, please do, coz I think u will understand the topic better.

This is my last post in this thread. I hope people can judge for themselves.

    Thanks

  10. The Sikh Rehat Maryada is NOT by SGPC.

SGPC stands for "Shiromani GURDWARA MANAGEMENT COMMITTEE". How could a Management Committee of Gurdwaras make a Maryada of the Panth?

The Sikh Rehat Maryada was made by the GURU PANTH. Please read the first few pages of the Sikh Rehat Maryada. You will find that in making the Sikh Rehat Maryada the majority of Sikh institutions, jathebandis, organisations, Maha-purakhs, scholars and intellectuals were consulted.

Mahapurakh BABA SUNDAR SINGH jee Bhindranwale, the Jathedaar of Damdami Taksal was consulted when making the Sikh Rehat Maryada. Also Bhai Sahib Bhai Randhir Singh jee was consulted. These are few names from the many people consulted when compiling the Rehat Maryada which is in accordance to Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji and the Guru Sahibaans utterances recorded in Rehatnaamas, Dasam Paatshah Di Bani, bhai Gurdas ji's vaars and Bhai Nand Lal Ji's poetry.

The Sikh Rehat Maryada is not made by a Saadh, Sant or one individual. It is collective work, which is made by Panthic Scholars and passed by Sri Akal Takhat Sahib, which is the Sikh's highest authority since the times of Guru Hargobind Sahib ji. SO Curious Bhaji and Proud_to_be_Sikh Bhenji you have your UNIVERSAL MARYADA :@ - you don't need to make another one!

The SGPC are the "PUBLISHERS" of the Maryada, who took responsibility to print the Panthic Maryada.

We should all accept and respect the Sikh Rehat Maryada as the Maryada of the GURU KHALSA PANTH. We may have PERSONAL opinions and differences in interpretation or practice of Rehat but the Fundamental Rehat of the Khalsa Panth has been provided by the Panthic Sikh Rehat Maryada, which provides a simple and basic reading guide to how a Sikh should live his or life and how code of conventions should be practiced.

Baba Jarnail Singh jee Bhindranwale while staying at Sri Akal Takht Sahib respected the Maryada of the Panth and Sri Akal Takht Sahib. I read in a book by Dr. Jodh Singh that Baba Jarnail Singh jee said that our personal Rehat and Maryada is for the Dera or Taksal, however on Panthic level and in Gurdwara Sahib we should respect and follow along with the agreed Panthic Maryada. Baba jee seems to make great sense. If we all did this - we would have PANTHIC EKTA :@
