  1. Apologies, if the answer to this question should be obvious, but could someone explain - as objectively as possible - about what is the issue with this guy Nidar Singh and his 'teaching' of sanatan shaster vidya?

Why is there so much hostility directed towards him on this forum?

    do some reading http://www.sikhsangat.com/index.php?/topic/65362-warning-to-all-sikhs-do-not-waste-your-time-with-shastar-vidya/page-6

  2. Vaheguru Jee Ka Khalsa, Vaheguru Jee Kee Fateh.

I didn't know what else to do, so I have decided to post here and hope that someone can help.

I ordered 2 Sarbloh mugs from www.SikhiShop.com on 1st August 2013. I paid the money for them. There was nothing to state that the items were out of stock. It said that it would take 5 or so days for the items to arrive.

It is now 19th September. That's a total of 7 weeks - I have neither heard from SikhiShop website and nor have they replied to two emails that I have sent them. There is no contact number etc on the website nor address.

Has anyone else experienced such problems?

If any sevadars from www.SikhiShop.com are on here please can kindly contact me and if you cannot deliver the good for any reason, can you please pay back the money.

    Thank you.

    Daas,

    Manvir Singh

thanks, i was going to buy something from there but i will think twice now

  3. I just love this video ! this is the shorter version and far more interesting

    https://vimeo.com/67993514

I'm not sure if it was intentional or not, but this is an absolute genius level of comedy

any credibility that was left was smashed by this video,... hehhehehee

plus I love the bit, where his student prophesises the reincarnation of the yet unborn legend of Shastarvidiya, that will one day walk through the doors of the akhara and save shastarvidiya for all mankind.

and his son is a legend....

...brilliant ! whoever made this video should get an award !

one thing which struck me as odd is that whenever Nidar does a demo with his students, they all tend to 'pull their punches hold back and kind of are programmed to let him do his thing and ensure he looks good'. there are many occasions where they could just make a strike from behind or show that he has prematurely turned his back to an opponent with a simple strike to the head or neck, but they just hold back

also why is he teaching his students to fight from within the middle of a group of attackers, throwing out strikes randomly like a madman, surely you should pick one assailant and try to put him between you and the rest of the group, get on the outside so you are in a much better position to make an escape or be able to retaliate in any realistic way. and some would say you should never get into that situation in the first place.

the fact that Nidar went on national media and said he is the last shastarvidiya master, is a besti to his students, because it implies that none of his students are really good enough or have the potential to take over after him, so he is having to resort to advertising in mainstream newspapers looking for a potential candidate, who can show more promise then his current 'supposedly' useless students.

MacDonalds...part of any Sant Sipahis nutritious Gladiator breakfast.....

unbelievable. all of these followers need brain scans.

  4. Waheguru Ji Ka Khalsa, Waheguru Ji Ki Fateh

You might have heard about the (one of the greatest, unequal, ever heard about) Legendary Battle of Thermopylae which was fought between an alliance of Greek city states, led by King Leonidas of Sparta and the Persian Empire of Xerxes I over the course of three days in 480BC.

Unlike the Hollywood film ‘300’ which fails to mention the +7,100 Greek City soldiers, King Leonidas also had 300 of his finest Spartans. The Persians had a force of 300,000 men. The odds of the battle were heavily (approx. 40:1) against the Spartans.

In August or September 480 BC, at the narrow coastal pass of Thermopylae, Greece the Spartans and allies fought for 2 days (it’s well worth watching ‘300’ to get a flavour of the fighting prowess of the Spartans ). On the third day the Persians managed to find a mountain trail and encircle the Spartans. Fearing defeat King Leonidas of Sparta allowed his allies to escape, and stayed (with his 300 men and 1,200 others) to fight to the death.

So now we have 1,500 men against approx. 300,000 Persians (approx. 200:1 odds) which is not looking great. Needless to say the Spartans were all slaughtered but not before they killed 20,000 Persians! The Spartans lost approx. 2,000 men in total. That equates to a kill rate of approx. 10:1!

If you thought the Battle of Thermopylae associated with the heroic stand of a small Greek force against the mighty Persian Army of Xerxes I in 480 B.C was legendary, then read about this last stand by the Sikhs at the Battle of Saragarhi on 12th September 1897. Saragarhi is the incredible story of 21 men of the 36th Sikh Regiment who gave up their lives in devotion to their duty. In keeping with the Sikh Khalsa tradition they fought to the death rather than surrender. It has been mentioned as one of the most significant events of its kind in the world and was honoured by the British Parliament and Queen Victoria.

How many men did the 21 Sikhs face? +10,000 (that’s 500:1)

How many men did the Sikhs kill? 800 (that’s 40:1!)

What was the Khalsa Sikh’s secret? Being Sikh’s… with shouts of ‘Bole So Nihal… Sat Sri Akal!’

Dhan Dhan Baja vale de shere dekhe

  5. maybe a witty reply before getting angry...

eg. if someone says 'ohh singhaaaaa!'..maybe something like ''oh kidda freeeshy!!, pind teek taak ya?!! maaja (cows) the ki hal ya, bibi te baba teek ya?"

combine this with a firm playful slap on the back (preferably resulting in them stumbling over a bit) and a loud laugh and 'bruaaah'!

This satire will play into their stereotype, result possibly in them gettin a little embarassed, but the downside is it is not really befiting a GurSikhs response! PS this requires the singh to have a little jaan/strength as well, so start lifting weights before getting angry at monees

could be comical for all concerned thou!

  6. How do you do your hair for a gol pagh? I do a loose one at the moment but it looks really stupid. One side of the joora is higher than the rest so it sticks out and makes my pagh look wonky.

    attachicon.gifUntitled.png

^sort of looks like that, one side has a lot more hair than the other.

looks like the joora in your display pic? hehe

  7. well caesar spread civilisation across the world through conquest, yes people died, but the world advanced. we shouldny be so narrow minded to say they did nothing for the world. How do you know what their avastha was? did you know them? With Bhagti comes Shakti. Their bhagti might of been in this life or the last. Dhan Dhan Guru Maharaj.

All these generals in the end were turned to dust and had to answer to dharam raaj for the countless innocents they killed and those who spread man's religion with the sword.

Arguing over such things is not on my priority. What did they bring to humanity ?

  8. Basically we're all homos in one way or another; they're homosexuals and we're all homosapiens (including gays), so we should all just get along. I was going to say we should all "rub up together" but I don't think that turn of phrase would be suitable in this particular situation. :giggle:

how about a group hug instead :)

So it really shows how you urban Sikhs want to dish it out and forget about it, but can't take the heat.

Who says urban Sikhs cant take the heat?! More stress in the urban jungle than in the pinds!

  9. Because you disagree with a man doesn't mean he is not your brother.

How do you his Bhagti is not greater than yours just because you've married a woman?

If you disagree with homosexuality then fine, but don't discriminate or prejudice them as that is equally not gurmat. Live and let live

I dont know what beastality, paedophilia have got to do with this thread ( you should start a separate thread if you want to discuss them)

Disagreement with homosexuality does not amount to being "homophobic". No matter how unpopular it may sound by today's media driven culture, but it must be said Gurmat does not agree with acts homosexuality, beastiality, pedophilia, incest etc. Sexuality must only be practiced within the bounds of marriage between man and woman.
