  1. Typical answer from you. If someone doesn't agree with your views...just call them an atheist. How am i am atheist? Because I don't subscribe to the fanatical brainwashing you are pushing? Swimming in a pool of monas is not allowed because you will get polluted? Is this sikhi? How do you think non-Amritdharis would feel about that comment? "I I can't swim with you in the same pool, because i will get polluted and will have to re-take baptism"...have you even for one second thought about how this sounds? If anything..this thinking pushes people towards atheism. Just one request...please, please keep this kind of thinking to yourself. It puts Sikhi into a bad light. a religion that hates non amritdharis, thinks they are dirty, and they will pollute us.

Come on Singh...please...just think about it logically for one second, instead of just running purely on emotion. Sometimes if we get so fanatical and emotional about certain concepts, we shut ourselves out from what makes sense.

I agree. Only five Ji, you have helped me before...but this is just too much. Please keep these views to yourself

  2. I'm sure you know that The Gurus had Sikhs wrestle for excercise. I'm assuming they would do this outside in the dirt. While they wrestled, dirt would have gone into their mouths, eyes, etc. gurbani says - "mitti musalmaan". So they were eating Muslims.

    Pretty big jhoot no?

Let's say you take a metaphorical view of this line as many people do, and say the Mitti is not actually Muslims. Whatever...other people have walked on it, and throughout life, you eat dirt. So you've committed jhoot.

Forget that, do you know what we're made of? All the molecules in our body have been recycled through many life forms. SO WE ARE ALL MADE UP OF JHOOT.

When you say, Sikhs can't do this, can't do that, because non-Amritdharis are doing it and making it jhoot, that makes Sikhi seem like a fanatical, elitist religion.

Makes us seem like we have the same attitude that the Bhramins have, the same attitude that Guruji's worked to destroy.

  3. But because these arguments against swimming are so ridiculous, I will argue them

It appears the main argument being use as to why Sikhs can't swim is because non-Sikhs also swim in it, making the water "jhoot". Well consider this

You touch a Non-Sikh. Jhoot. Can't do that.

You walk on the floor a non-Sikh walks on? Sorry, that's jhoot too then.

Sit in a non-Sikhs car? Jhoot.

Accept change from a cash register where a Non-Sikh hands it to you? Jhoot. Have to go to Pesh an retake Amrit now.

Everything is Jhoot on some level. Even that langar you got from Gurdwara prepare by an Amritdhari? The vegetables that were used, probably picked by a Non-Sikhs. Sorry, but your "pure" meal, that's jhoot too buddy according to your argument.

Did a Sikh with a lower Jeevan than you matha thek before Guruji? Sorry, that ground is now jhoot. You can't put your forehead there

Do you realize how <banned word filter activated> ridiculous this argument is?

This whole world is jhoot. Are you going to lock yourself in a sanatized room now where no one is allowed in or out?

    Open your eyes

  4. This thread disappoints me so much...as Sikhs we are reduced to arguing whether we can swim or not.

If you want to swim and see nothing wrong with it (which I agree with, what's wrong with swimming) then go swim. I you don't want to swim don't

But seriously, stop trying to convince the other side

Next we will be arguing "can I hike? Guruji didn't, and it's manmat to admire nature or step on dirt that Non Sijhs have stepped on!"

    Or

Can I use public restrooms? Somebody's bum touched it and he wasn't amritdhari!"

Sikhi is a growing evolving religion. Everyone feels differently about a topic, and JUST DO WHAT WORKS FOR YOU. Stop trying to push your views onto the other side, and stop making fun of them

  5. @JSinghz - hey paaji when I say that I as a mona probably won't take amrit in my life I'm sayin that as an honest person, while admitting that I can't give up likin girls, havin odd drop of alcohol etc. I have enormous respect 4 amritdhari sikhs, never think that I don't, please. All I was doin was answerin the original question of what can be done to bring sikhs together, n 1 area which I feel is, the way SOME amritdharis don't seem to like the presence of mona sikhs etc. I gave some examples, then this incredibly uptight poster then came with such attack that I cudnt understand. My friend that poster was puttin words into my mouth by sayin I was talkin bowt all amritdharis, wen CLEARLY in my posts I say SOME amritdharis. I'll b damned if I get cornered n vilified for this. 4 goodness sake there are some amritdharis who won't talk 2 other amritdharis coz they belong 2 diffrnt groups (akj/buddha dal/taksali), oh I suppose that's a lie 2 init. C wat I'm sayin?

He's right. Although he may have generalized a little bit, he is right. SOME Amritdharis do look down upon Mona's. Is anybody questioning that? Lay off guys

  6. So Sikhs can NEVER dance? What about something like the OP was talking about-Zumba? Where you dance to get fit. If the music is just instrumental, or doesn't have any manmat language, then what's wrong with it?

And please don't say something like- you can get fit by doing Gatka. Please address my question directly

  7. Bhenji. It's not your fault, and never will be. Go to the police, please. So what if people look down on you. <banned word filter activated> them. Your family will support you, I guarantee it, and it is te right thing to do. Please bhenji, go to the police, they will help you, and if this guy doesn't get caught he might do it again, putting someone in the same position as you. Don't let that happen. Please

  8. The Masand system was created by Guru Arjan Dev Ji. Guru Gobind Singh Ji destroyed it when it was no longer effective. My point is that the Sikh Panth is a living, evolving body. When something becomes useless or irrelevant or inefficient, it should be destroyed.

Note: i am talking only about systems, etc. that were NOT established by Guruji or that arent Rehat.

Just because Akalis became Shaheed for the establishment of SGPC doesn't mean it should stand for all time. It has become an obstacle to the panth, and should be removed. At the time when it was created, it was nessecary for the advancement of the Sikh Dharam, but now it is useless

  9. Yeh. So Isnt it said in a poetic way so lyk this iz How much we shud meditate. Coz den u r sayin a hairy person can meditate mor or man can do mor meditatn than gal ?

Does anyone understand what this person says in any of his posts? Mods should have a rule. Either use proper English/punjabi or be banned. No one should have to take 5 minutes to decipher what this post says

  10. I wouldn't really associate Facebook with Sikhi...instead of saying "is Facebook allowed in Sikhi" or whatever instead look at it from your own perspective. If for YOU the pros outweigh the cons of having one, then keep it. If not, delete it. The same goes for much of life

  11. usually mma is just 3 arts, predominantly muay Thai for standup, BJJ for ground, and sometimes wrestling. And often times there are no such things as MMA classes, the fighters train individually in each and put it all together. So like you can go train in Judo and karate, and apply them together yourself and technically it would be "mma"

  12. Bhai Sahib - This is essential training for a Sikh Warrior according to Guru's Mat. This kamai will create martial arts within you.

Here are a couple of quotes from the warriors manual (Sri Dasam Granth)

    Ang 162

Veerji, I know exactly what you meant, but I don't think the OP was referring to doing naam jap.

  13. Reading Gurbani or doing Mool Mantra Jaap

    Those aren't martial arts

It depends on what you want to learn. If you want to learn pure self defense from knives, chokes, sticks, headlocks, etc, then Krav Maga. If you want to learn to fight then there is Muay Thai, BJJ, Judo, Boxing...whatever you want really. Pick whatever will suit your needs. There is no "best martial art" there are best martial arts for people who know what they want to get out of training
