  1. Staten Island isn't dangerous. It's mostly middle-class. Some bad parts, but mostly okay. I lived in Harlem for about a year. People think that's a bad area, but those people where friendlier than the goreh downtown. Overall, most people don't bother you, unless you go looking for trouble. Now people go out of their way to talk to you.

eh its easy to get lost and whatnot, one wrong turn and you could end up where you shouldn't be. And the neighborhoods are all mixed together. I would avoid it if I was visiting with little knowledge of the city, but thats just me

  2. Where in NY? I have lived here for many years in upstate NY and nothing has ever happened. Sure you get the occasional dirty look but nothing else.

If NYC, don't worry. People dress much stranger there and no one looks twice. Just use common sense

Also, never be afraid to do anything because you are worried as how people will react. Wherever you go there will be people who don't like you. But don't let that stop you from living your life. Your peers are right. Think like that and you won't get anything done in life.

As for the whole America and Sikhs deal, I have traveled all across the US, even to the South, and nothing has ever happened. America isn't the white racist nation the media tells you about

  3. but seriously, would you kill a human if the human was suffering, just as the mouse is? i would kill the mouse in one quick blow with a knife or something then do an ardas. if there is a chance of it recovering, then you could take the mouse to a vet. to prevent the massacre of even more mice, teach your cat that killing mice is bad.

Massacre of mice? That cat killing the mouse is nature. There is nothing bad about it, it's how the world works

  4. Well, I don't know what the "Sikh" thing to do is, I would just do what feels right to you. I have done the same thing. If you're going to continue, 2 things - kill the animal all the way in one go, it's pretty bad if you leave it spasming. Just get a shovel and take its head off, or if you have branch trimmers (they look like giant scissors) you can use those. Yeah it sounds really bad but they get the job done, and they are much more preferable then slamming a pot on the mouse's head many times. 2nd thing is don't try to save the animal from the cat. That just makes it worse, and it's not for you to interfere with

  5. Hey guys we had quite a few signatures yesterday. Just remember that it is just as important to email the advocacy groups to press the issue as it is to sign, if not more, so of you have not done that, please do so.

If your Gurdwara has an email list I would appreciate if you could send out the message. Just say something along the lines of, "somebody sent me this, please sign and pass it along" then copy and paste my original post. Thanks

  6. Also would like to add this christian white terrorist enemy of sikhs tweeted this "Beautiful work of an angry God who told Wisconsin to keep their filthy hands off his people."

A Westboro Baptist Church representative Fred Phelps

Lets press for action against this lowlife christian demon

These guys have been around forever every time a US service member dies they go to protest the funeral. There was a shooting last year as well in Tuscon, Arizona involving a Congresswoman. They protested a 9 year olds funeral there as well.

But the Local community always turns out in support and what they usually do is stand infront of them and hang up sheets. Don't worry about these guys, they're old news

  7. why do we always potatoes and uneducated people foward. was watching the CNN coverage and the sikh they called couldn't speak english properly. he said a few punjabi words (kay etc.) in the interview and said sikhs call their temples gurdwaras then called the gurdwara a church. a white non-sikh explained better than the sikh man did. we actually need to say who we are to people. it was so embarrassing watching the interviews.

Yeah I saw that too I think. It was a guy with a pink turban and trimmed beard. The first thing he did was get Guru Nanak Dev Ji's birthday wrong. That guy didn't know squat.

Later in the evening they had someone from the Sikh Coalition on, and that guy did a really good job.
