I'm just getting into studying Sri Dasam Granth Sahib Ji and I had a few questions for example where should I begin? I haven't been able to find the complete translations from beginning to end, where can I find them? Why was Charitropakhyan written? The reasons for writing the baani's Guru Gobind Singh Ji maharaj wrote are out of our minds understanding but any information would be great.

    Thanks in advance.

  2. I really don't want to go because there's so much gandh at punjabi parties. If it was simple with vegetarian food and maybe some light relaxing music in the back and people just socializing with no dancing it might be fine.

Like seriously, every punjabi party you go to it's the same thing - they serve a snack, people start getting drunk, a few Bhangra performances, more people get drunk, all the drunk people dance on the dance floor and bother the people who aren't drinking/the aunties, they serve roti, almost every uncle is drunk by that point. Never any organization, and gandh music playing in the back with horrible lyrics.

I'm thinking I might go for a half hour or so, say sat sri akal to the family and once people start drinking and the music starts getting loud just leave without anyone noticing. Is that a good idea? Or are their any flaws in that? Please let me know.

Is it fine to go to banquet halls as an amritdhari? I'm asking because my fathers close friend's getting married and they want us to come to the party. I personally don't want to go but my parents really want to go because they're really close friends. I won't be dancing, I'll mainly be either sitting or standing outside in the lobby passing time by talking to people. If I do go should I eat anything? If it's completely bad, what should I tell my parents? I feel like it will destroy progress that's been made but I can't really say much because I don't want to go against my parents either (I'm 16). I wasn't able to find anything about this in Taksali rehat so any help would be great.

  4. My ustad has told me amrit vela riaz is a must. Focus on low key riaz in the mornings because if you can do low really well, high won't be a problem. Drink hot water, avoid drinking drinks that dry your throat. Sing from the stomach, it's powerful and sounds confident.

  5. Don't forget, Amritdharis are NOT vegetarians. For example vegetarians, by definition, eat fish, thus many products that have a 'vegetarian' label on them are not actually suitable for Amritdharis. Amritdharis are somewhere between vegetarians and vegans.

I will never understand why fish is vegetarian. Is a breathing, swimming fish not alive? lol

  6. The biggest problem is people in Punjab still listen to his garbage. Here in Canada and America he isn't as big as he was before. Having Babbar Khalsa take care of him is just going to give us a bad name because the Indian media is going to write stories in a way to make us look like the bad guys.

The best thing that can be done is somehow getting people to boycott his stuff. A lot of DJs in Canada have refused to play his music at parties. Once his popularity drops you'll see him throwing out titles called "satguru nanak pargateya mitti dhund jag chanan hoya".

I was recently at a path and people were eating store made cookies, pastries etc without even checking the ingredients (many were even amritdhari). And frequently you'll see people serving doughnuts (made with eggs) and pizza (made with rennet) being served for langar at kids programs at the Gurdwara.

Now my question is would an amritdhari who unawarely ate pizza with rennet (or pastries with eggs) have to go pesh? Or even just ate something with animal by products by accident.

Sorry if I offended anyone, I just asked it because it's been on my mind for years and I see it happen a lot.

  8. I personally don't see anything wrong with it as long as the people are true and won't backstab, but that goes for everyone of all genders. Guys can be like the way they're shown on tv but a lot aren't like that. It all depends on their sangat and what type of media they're exposed to. Be careful around girls and guys both though because both can do harm by lying, gossiping etc.

  9. Interesting when Saada Haq was released in the UK cinemas were packed out full houses couldn't get tickets.

I don't think kaum de heere is showing at as many locations as Saddam haq did. Also Saddam haq had a lot of publicity from Jazzy B baagi track and being banned in Punjab etc.. this made a lot of people who otherwise wouldn't have bothered want to go and watch it.

I agree though kaum de heere looks like a great film everyone should make an effort to go and watch it in cinemas to support the producers.

It wasn't advertised as much either. The only place I saw advertisements was on Sikh Channel, so a lot of people don't even know about it.

That's what a lot of amrit dhari's tell people when they're asked to pull out their kirpan, It's just to scare them so they don't ask again. But the saying probably has a deeper meaning (not completely sure on that).

At the end of Chandi Di Vaar it says "Durga path banaya sabay paurian || Fir na jooni aaya jin eh gaaya ||55||

Is the meaning of this literally how its's translated or does it get deeper? Does it mean mukhti or something else?

Sorry if this's been asked before, I couldn't find an answer.

  12. How can spirituality be linked to hair? Everyone has different amount of hair.

What about people who are bald (male baldness or due to medical reasons - leukemia) are they less spiritual than those who have full heads of hair?

Most men go bald anyway after 50-60. So do they get less spiritual?

Some people have lots of body hair some have little. Are the ones with lots of body hair more spiritual?

This does not make sense at all.
