  1. much of the land from gurdware was taken away, also the waqf board holds many of the gurdware. lots of old gurdware in pinds and cities are now derelict, turned into mosques or librarys and other buildings. but its easier being sikh in pakistan, as sikhs are monothiestic so not bothered as much as hindus. a small sikh community used gurdwara bhai taru singh ji, but it was taken over by a group of muslims and the sikh signs were covred in islamic writing. some gurdware in karachi were also sealed off because of disputes, the three smaller gurdware in karachi aren't big enough for sangat. i think small numbers of sikh refugees from war hit areas are moving into pakistan, best we can do is help them set up.

  2. if you want good arms then you have to go to MP to sikligar sikhs. they can make any arm of best quality. They live near indore many times indian media has done sting operation on them. they are very poor.

yes, these sikhs used to make arms for guru gobind singh and his armies. they live in horrible conditions, and were hit hard econmically by modern weaponry.

  3. 1947 proved we r a martial community, . i say this coz they started it, and we finished it! With massive difference in popualtion sizes,

We would not have Amritsar and the Darbar Sahib today in India, had it not been for singhs laying down their lives to protect it. we were a minority here but still managed to hold it, proving that singhs can be martial today. http://www.sikhiwiki.org/index.php/The_Battle_for_Amritsar,_1947

I'd say American Sikhs have a great opportunity to carry weapons and guns as you are allowed to. Maybe all American Sikhs need to get a gun and use it if needed. We have already seen that Sikhs are likely to be attacked, maybe its time we don't sit around like ducks waiting to be hit, and when we are hit not doing anything.

However, look at the Indian Army stats, they form only 2% of the Indian population. At one time, 25% of soldiers and 33% of officers in the Indian Army were Sikhs. They have won major battles for India. It was under their command India defeated Pakistan in the 1965 and 1971 wars. Today the figures are something like this 15% of soldiers and 20% of officers are Sikh. Don't these figures say something, maybe some of us can still fight.

  4. As if its now a violent free world! If our ancestors hadnt used violence n stayed armed, we'd b on an islamic forum 2day discussin fastin techniques

    L0L.

but yh, i agree with whats been said. we really do need to learn how to fight and keep weapons. we've seen how people like to pick on us, target gurdware etc. maybe if we showed people don't mess with us they wouldn't dream of aproaching us. never ever pick fights, try to resolve conflicts, but if the person won't listen smack them so they never think of picking a fight with you again.

  5. I'm still learning about Sikhi but I read the other day Guru's themselves asked not to be worshipped. So when we celebrate their birthdays and things like that isnt that idol worship? Or maybe i misunderstood?

no isn't its just celebrating the guru's life (am i right?). celebrating someones life isn't worshiping the person, its remembering our roots and teachers. You could say the ardas is all idol worship, we aren't worshping images, rather remembering our history. and isn't sikhi's image that god is everywhere in everything

"In stationary life forms, moving beings, worms, moths and within each and every heart, the Lord is contained. ||1||"

Guru = teacher. They teaching how to walk the right path. Theyre not claiming to be anything.

I'm still learning about Sikhi but I read the other day Guru's themselves asked not to be worshipped.

Talking about God I think is very hard. One persons perception of God probably totally different to how another see's God. One might view god as a really big person sitting in the clouds. The other might percieve God in the minds eye as an ocean of light of which we are all droplets.

the gurus never said they were god but servants of god. :s, but doesnt a sant become one with God, there becomes a point when there is no distinction between God and his Sant.

  6. i don't know if this is true, but isn't sikhi one of the fastest growing religions in america? i mean if it is then maybe soon there will be a lot more keshadhari sikhs around. but when i visited the US i saw most sikhs in areas like California and some in new york. the rest of america has probably never even seen a sikh, and only saw a turban on the news on Bin Ladens head. personally i think the sikhs of america are trying hard to raise awareness. but the sheer size of america, and the low population of sikhs makes this job hard.

  7. naam japna is meditating on god (waheguru) and just focusing on him. its baisically just repeating naam or waheguru satnam. you could do this for 5minutes, 10 however long you want. you can use beads or a mala to help keep count or just help you jap naam. just sit cross legged in a quiet place, close your eyes and breathe say waheguru. there are plenty of videos on youtube. just type in waheguru simran and just recite with it.

    waheguru means wonderful teacher.

  8. I love you too.

The Sikh Shooting: DoJ and FBI Warned of Planned Terror Attack in April

"Naming Sikh-Americans as possible targets for “hate crimes” the letter to Holder and Muller commented on the Sikh’s “distinct identity and common misperceptions with respect to their attire and appearance” saying that this group is often erroneously believed to be “affiliated with extremists and were somehow responsible for the September 11 terrorist attacks.”

Same guys involved with fast and furious.

    But this is stupid right?

yes because hate crimes had been taking place. a gurdwara was being vandalised every other week or being broken into. sikhs were victims of abuse, physical and verbal. many sikh groups asked for a box for sikh hate crimes so sikh hate crime numbers could be tracked! but i see where you are comming from. perhaps obama does want to ban guns, i mean we'll have to wait and see what he does in the next days. he said "soul searching" is needed. anyway, i really think sinkhs in the US should be armed with guns as they are often victims of hate crimes so can defend themselves but also because our gurus said to keep weapons on us, the kirpan is not a pretty little symbol that can't even cut a banana, it is a weapon that can defend us and others, for that purpose we wear it.

  9. Sorry, Do all of us still think the shooting was carried out as mis-identity?

Did the person who was an ex-army man, psycho-specialist did not knew about Sikhs and their difference to Muslims?

was watching CNN yesterday and they had an ex-skin head and south poverty law people on and they said it probably was mistaken identity. one man said in their music they speak about the "evils of islam" and jihad etc. sp this wade man saw turbans assumed they were muslims and gunned them down. and anyway white power people like the gunman believe coloured people to be evil people anyway.
