  1. I guess you're lucky you even studied Sikhi at school. Went to a grammar school, did RS for GCSE and A Level but never covered Sikhi and the teachers barely knew anything about it.

Fastforward to Theology at university, and neither the students nor lecturers know much about Sikhi. Lecturers have often implied to me that it's of no real significance, just a branch of Hinduism.

  2. Speaking of compassion for prey animals, what of compassion for the predators?

If one prevents a lioness from from goring a zebra, then they may well have saved the zebra, but what of the lioness and her emaciated cubs whom they've now condemned to starvation?

Humans can subsist on vegetables. Carnivorous animals would die if they tried to. Guru Gobind Singh Ji kept a Baaj and probably also dogs. What exactly do you think they ate, cabbages?

The predator-prey cycle is part of nature. Satguru, in his infinite wisdom, has made it so. It is he who commands the lion to savage the gazelle, the animal knows nothing else other than what Maharaj has created it for - to hunt.

The OP tagged the post with "birds" and "cats", in which case I'd assume that the latter belong to owners which which feed it and would therefore not feel that it needs to feast on birds to survive.

It's definitely a more complicated issue with animals in the wild.

  3. To be honest, I only try to respect what comes from the Akal Takht. That doesn't mean I'll listen to or implement it. It's just there, in my head like, yeah, just try to respect the fact that some people will now follow this order. But I try to only follow and accept hukam of Guru Granth Sahib.

  4. Dear lord I hope people are not still questioning whether women should be allowed to do certain things while on their period.

Guru Nanak Dev ji directly challenged the particularly Vaishnava belief in pollution and impurtiy being attached to the menstrual cycle.

Hence in Asa di Vaar they quite clearly refer to the period, before exclaiming that in reality impurity lies in the mind and one cannot simply become pure by washing the body.

Ours is the only faith that does not place taboos around the topic of menstruation. On the contrary, Guru Sahib openly and fiercely contradicted these beliefs.

If people still don't get this fundamental aspect of Guru Sahibs ideology, then I'm ashamed.

  5. Waheguru ji ka Khalsa Waheguru ji ki Fateh

Beloved sister, one is not complete. Awareness can be a blessing or a curse depending on how you see it. The self willing manmukh knows no better. One who yearns for God feels the lack. Do not underestimate the strength of a spiritual union and that of the group. I sympathise with your wanting to be on the fringe, it can feel that way, but little change can come about if you keep it under the hood. Women tend to be more spriritual than men, it is just how the dice is rolled. These natural instincts are crushed by patriarchy and breakdown in society and balance with nature. Some rebel as the feminist. Most accept and integrate. Others find refuge in the religious groups. Few see a spade for a spade, put their hand up and say, "Sorry but I reject it all". Reject it my sister and behold a new start. Be bold enough to be different. Sure, I have a purpose in life, but it is no different to the purpose of the Guru. It should be at the heart of it not be very different to any other. Things may seem very different but be principally identical. Ensrine the Guru's widsom in your mind. Beg for Amrit. Find your Singh. Make the proposal. Change the world. Live the natural life. Do it now.

One wonderfully spiritual Kaur once challened me when I shared with her my inner yearnings: "So you have this dream. Great. Now what are you doing about it?" This lit up a fire under me. I realised that it wasn't a mere dream, it was reality. And God guided me as to what I can do about it. I ask you the same question my beloved sister.

Waheguru ji ka Khalsa Waheguru ji ki Fateh

If you could message me regarding seva, paaji, that'd be great.

  6. Its sad however true... the sikh girls love a badboy and sikh educated 9-5 guys are second best.

Its upsetting seeing the 'slappers' roaming about with these paki bengali or black gangsters then they settle with a good sikh boy and end up divorcing him after having kids to him and taking halve of his wealth and then reverting back to the slapper lifestyle...

Waheguru ji bless good sikhs to keep away from this madness.

Ironic, isn't it, that people like yourself make Sikh women want to run a thousand miles from Sikh men.

  7. so I no one can talk about pesh than would you rather want me to not even pesh so, I not become a singh again I am just talking about helping me we are not talking about anyone who peshed but how it is done SO PLS HELP AS MUCH AS YOU CAN

It depends where you go, different places do it a little differently. I know at one Gurdwara, it was done briefly in front of the other peshees, so those close enough could hear. Other places take you in one by one. Don't worry, don't go in with ego, put it all out there and you'll be forgiven.
