  1. Dancing to Bhangra is a personal choice (not saying i do) but dancing to Gurbani...come on this is blatant beadbee - 3HO should know better!!!

I don't think the innocent people dancing should be blamed but the organisers of this event are to be solely to be blamed for this beadbee.

  2. Islam & Christinaity seem to produce priests/imams born in this country...why aren't we? Why do Amritdhari's born in this country not think it will be socially acceptable amongst their peers to become a Granthi? Whats needs to changes? How can UK born Amritdhari's be trained to become Granthi's? Do we need to start investing into this now?

Until we have UK born and bred Amritdhari Granthi's our Gurooghar's will never totally be able to engage with our youth who are born here.

Also, i've noticed Granthi's are generally treated like cr*p by committees...someone that does what they're told and on a leash! I think its because either committee's are power hungry and don't let good Granthis do parchaar or Granthi's from India aren't actually capable of the role and do it just to come to the UK,as a result committees needs to micro-manage them.

I do beleive, becoming a Granthi is not something any one can just do....its a passion to do parchar that one gets through the grace of Guru Jee.

Finally, there's a saying in Inida, if a loafer can't find any job...then as a last resort,at least he can become a paathi and make some money! (These paathi usually come to UK as Granthi's)

*PS i'm not saying all Granthi's in the UK are bad, as some are doing an exceptional job but just some observations of mine.

  3. i too called the number - the guy who answered wouldn't give his name & said the pardhaan wasn't there but wanted to know why i was calling. He said i can ask him anything. When i asked him "Did the community centre have any connection with the Gurdwara" the gentlemen replied 'No'.

I then asked, "was sangats money used to fund the community hall"..he replied "People from Dudley donated whatever they wanted". I then asked "Was an announcement ever made from the stage in the presence of Sri Guru Granth Sahib Jee for any donations towards the cumminty centre"...he replied "No"...Then he slammed the phone down!

Why slam the phone down, i only asked some genuine question!?!

  4. i just cant even image what maaha paap these corrupt masands are going to get for doing this maha beadbee! On top of it, they have no sharam and will try to justify their bajjar kurehit activities in Guru Granth Sahib Jee's hazzoorree today!

    Rab Ton Ta Daro!!

  5. Sri Guroo Granth Sahib Jee - Ang 923

raamadhaas sodtee thilak dheeaa gur sabadh sach neesaan jeeo ||5||

The Guru then blessed the Sodhi Ram Das with the ceremonial tilak mark, the insignia of the True Word of the Shabad. ||5||

I don't think anyone can really question whether Guroo Jee received a tilak when the Gurgaddi was passed on from one Guroo Sahib to another as the pangtee above clears that up and shows that Guru Raam Das Jee received a tilak when they received gurgaddi.

There are many practises today in Sikhi which many people havn't heard of, and just because we have not heard of them is not reason to be against them.

On the flip side of the coin - just because we haven't heard of it doesn't mean we can't question its authenticity either and must just accept it because it 'may' be a puratan maryada?

I am not sure exactly on the Marayda on this, but I know it has been mentioned by old Mahapursh before.

SikhReality jeeo, please could you provide a link to the katha from where you heard this or even the name of the mahapursh themselves?

I'm going to play the devil's advoacte here as this may infact be a puratan maryada and it may also be possible that Guroo Gobind Singh Jee did place a tilak on Guroo Granth Sahib Jee when Guroo Jee have Gurgaddi to Sri Guroo Granth Sahib Jee. Even if it it true, surely we can't compare ourselves to either Baba Buddha Jee or Guroo Gobind Singh Jee as the gurgaddi has already been passed onto Guroo Granth Sahib Jee?

Also, i don't see the need for everyone to place the tilak as it was only Baba Budda Jee alone that put a tilak on Guroo Ram Dass Jee and not everyone in the sangat. On a satkaar level, surely if thousands of people put a tilak on Guroo Granth Sahib Jee, over time that would cause more beadbee and actual damage to Guroo Jee's saroop in the long term?

Personally, I find it very uncomfortable watching all those people placing a tilak on Guroo Jee, not because the tilak is seen as a Hindu practice today but because of the beadbee that it can and ultimately will cause!
