I do not feel that he should change either... I just would like to know how it is best to be supportive and reassuring when he is thinking of leaving his beliefs based on something so trivial... thanks again.

Hello... I have met a Sikh gentleman (I am American) and we have become friends. He is having a difficult time adjusting to the American society; being teased, laughed at, etc...common ignorance...and he is thinking of conforming to fit in by cutting his hair and clean shaven. I am so embarassed by my fellow Americans, I feel so horrible to know that not everyone is as open minded as me and continue there complete and utter ignorance... How can I support him to feel so secluded? I hate to think he will change based on someone elses judgment. Thank you all for your replies Lily
