  1. Hi!

I need motivation to lose about 2 stones and am wondering if anyone on here is the same?

Is anyone on here on My Fitness Pal?

I think I can be gym instructor here..cough,cough lol...anyways... the main thing is not that dieting.. eat whatever you want to...but you just need to use that consumption (food)...I mean your consumption should be equal to output.. Output can be in terms of gyming ,any heavy work like any heavy work washing cloths or mopping? lol... but note that also output should not be more than consumption..bc it happens it can have adverse effects on your health and body... thanks..

  2. I just need some guidance please.

I'm a manmukh Sikh. I do Simran etc often though (every day).

Lately I kept having dreams with the Hindu Goddess Durga in them. I spoke to my Hindu friend about it and she said it usually means its warning you of something to do with fertility or death...she was correct...I found out a few weeks later.

Now I'm having dreams with her again and I feel my attention going to her ... even though I still do Simran and turn to our Gurus all the time (many times throughout the day).

But I cant get her out of my mind. Whats going on?!

I feel like I need to start incoporating her when im doing my ardas/simran everyday.

Is this bad? What should I do? I'm not into Hinduism at all so this is confusing me! There is no way I would turn my back to Sikhi as I hope to become a Guru's Sikh one day.

    ain't you from australia?

  3. penji how can u accept someone to cut hair if they respect sikhi and yet overlook the fact of our shahheds

    what they did

there was a child adopted by mata sahib kaur ji

they named him Ajit Singh because he looked like him

he grew up to be full of ego and tried to hit mata ji once,

latter he got into fight with turks and killed his men for no reason

latter due to fear he cut his hair and sent as an offering to the turk ruler

on hearing this mata sahib kaur ji passed a hukam nama

no one shall talk to or associate with him , he is excommunicated

    patshahi 10vi himself says

dont give me darshan without kesh and shastar

    what do you expect?

im not asking to hate your father but dont let his love overcome what sikhi stands for

gal ae c ke is penji nu khud koi sikhi di knowledge nai c...

  4. sikhi wich waala da hona lazmi nai a........balki rakhna lazmi a and we already know we sikhs accept the natural form of body...when you already know you are singh sardar ..you wear turban then I think it seems to be weird...you talking about losing of your hair....and being ganja is not because of you wear turbans....its all about hormones...

bas kudhiyaan nu hi ronde reha karo.....vhelle........

  5. My intentions were not to argue about hair by the way I am not against people who keep their hair nor am I against people who cut their hair. All is his doings...

There is only guru gobind singh ji and no other... Well I won't say they happen in the now - that's new age thinking

are you a follower of 3HO nonsense? just asking okayy nvm......

  6. Yes there are some such sikhs and they are wrong if they think they are better the everyone else, but there are also many judgemental moneh who look for negative things in amritdharis but can not see their own faults, there main arguments is we are are not amritdhari so its ok for us to do / be the way we are, my answer to this is why is it ?, you refuse to follow your Guru's basic teachings e.g. do not cut your hair, Drink alcohol, smoke etc but you point the finger at people who are trying to follow Guru ji but do have faults because no one is perfect except Waheguru / Guru ji (who are the one and the same). We should not look at other peoples faults but look at our own. There are many good amritdhari sikhs out there who do some excellent work like Bhai Jugraj Singh ji of basics of sikhi who do not think they are better than any one else and are trying to help the youth, look at the positive people and the negative in yourself. No offence intended but i too get fed up of judgemental moneh always criticizing amritdharis, why dont they take amrit and show everyone how it should be done, rather than look at the faults in amritdharis!

moneh are not sikh...that's the truth.....you follow first 9 gurus....or you follow only 10th guru....in both cases you have to keep hair ,have to live with natural body..have to cover up

your head with turban........but these monaas are sooooooooooo chaalluuuuuuuuu.................lol

  8. I agree that only amritdhari a should be in charge of gurughars but also they should be decent moral humans. If a Mona perso is helping the community alot in his guruduwara why can't he just take Amrit and the be apart of a committee. Will it kill him to take Amrit?

lol no....it will kill his/her hypocrisy for sikhi....' ahi ta gal hai janab ji.....ye mone huye sikha de wich ana jada pyaar hai sikhi lyi te fe guru de sikh kyu ni bande.....kyu sikhi da naam roshan nai karde.... kyu ek changa amritdhari banke nai dikhonde.......ae sab dramebaaz hai...that's the truth

  9. I made it very clear in my second sentence who can successfully run Gurdwaras. Since you and others missed it the first time. Here it is again:

I have seen personally the Sikh community grow when Amritdhari/Sehajdhari Sikhs take control of a Gurdwara or be another institution like a school. Do you know why they are successful. Not because how smart they are or how well they are able to make connections with stakeholders in the community. But because they bow at the feet of Guru ji and let Guru ji run the show by following instructions.

And for your idealism and realism remark. I see how you want to play God because I have been down that road. I have no desire to play God and all I can do is ardas. Akaali Phula Singh ji did ardas, Baba Buddha ji did ardas, Bhai Lehna ji did ardas, Bhai Sati Das ji did ardas, Baba Gurbaksh Singh ji did ardas and the list goes on. You want to play God by saying pick the better of the two bad apples and let one of them dictate what is Gurmat in a Gurdwara is only going to put the Khalsa Panth in a worse position. And this will create even a bigger divide where the next generation will completely lose all values of Sikhi.

When Gursikhs like Baba Buddha ji and Bhai Mani Singh ji were in charge of running Sikh institutions the Khalsa Panth stood strong no matter how much "suffering" it went through. Sant Jarnail Singh ji showed how to run Sikh institution and look at the glory of how many shaheeds the Khalsa Panth had step up to defend the truth. Look now at your hand where people like you want to play God. By playing God you have lost the youth and have lost the Sikhs that once stood along side Sant Jarnail Singh ji on the platform of truth for every human and creature.

    I just loved these lines.....awesome.......

  10. Pardon my ignorance, but exactly where did i say slate anybody ???

So, why be questioning me on the assumption that I am only pointing at bad amritdharies and the few good monas, and making it seem that is the global picture ???

The FACT is that most amritdharies don't give monas the benefit of doubt. They immediately assume they are not good enough. ........This is one of the messages of my above post.

    Anyway, my question was .

    .What is a patit ??

does anyone actually understant what the term is for ?

It seems, most of us think that ALL monas are patits !!!

Patit means who is living out of the bana(identity of sikhism).. There is nothing like good and bad to judge among them....infact these things come in the character of people..
At some point it seems like " they (patit) want to take the taste of Gurus but they don't wanna give their own taste to Gurus..." that means again "They wanna take the 100 percent of
gurus but they don't wanna give their 100 percent to the gurus..."
There are thousands of hindus ,muslims, Christians who believe in the teachings of the gurus and follow them but does it mean that we should give them right to judge our own people as per as sikhi and allow them to take part in our sikh administrations and managements? ??? hmm?...
In the same way there will be enough sikhs who believe in the philosophy of others religion (Even we know our Gurus have told us respect all religions but always be with your own
roots) so do you think that other people would like to introduce sikhs in their management committees ??? hmm?
Sikhi does not say or force to follow it.. it is everybody's own life and he can live in whatever the way he wants...but when it comes to sikhi and wanna take the taste of it then everyone needs commitments towards it.and honesty without any single hypocrisy like "sikhi is done with heart not with hair"...tell me that's what our gurus have taught us???
After few years there will not be enough sardars in this world because we have been addicted of fashionable and worldly life.... and then we will be able to appoint any mona as granthi
or paathi?? aje ta gal sirf commitee di ho rahi a...
my point is its not with sikhi only but in every religion there are performing the same things....for example in buddhism we will see the management of those who look like budhist....in hindus we see brahimns management...in christians we see the preference of priests who look like jesus....and the same case with rest of the religions....
I want to illustrate it with some examples:---when we go to take admission in some school we are served with some guide book in which school states its principles and rules regarding
uniform ,shoes, socks , color of uniforms, behavior that has to be maintained by student in the school,,how to sit or stand how to attend assembly...etc etc....but at the same time we see there are different majors (subjects) in the school like science ,math, social sciences etc etc to be taught by teachers...tell me now have these majors to do anything with the principles and rules that are mentioned in guide book of school???
Guide book is a book that tells the student how to be disciplined as long as in this school...when you left it and join some other school you have to follow principles and rules of that school...simple..
In my school times I have always been in the merit of school...got every time more than 80 percent marks .....but at the same time i had a naughty mind and inappropriate habits for an example..I used to reach school after assembly just because I never wanted to stand for so long time in the morning and I was always wearing sneakers.. my favourite shoes lol and sometimes my pant was so narrow from below and as a result they sent me back to home just from school gate.. and as a reward from the management of school I had been punished for these things many times.....
after some time I realized the things when my teacher told me "getting high marks and being bright student in reading the books does not make you good student unless you don't follow the rules and regulations of this school. you are not in your home where you can do anything you want. Not only this school but no any other school will be accepting you if you don't follow their rules and principles .....
At last..we come to sikhi ,...I would say sehajdhari word was made for those who come to panth slowly .. ...not for those who will go to barber's shop everyday in the morning and after having shave on face and blade on head they stand up and after looking themselves in the mirror of the barber 's shop they say "yes I am sikh and i m so proud of it and sikhi is done with heart not with hair"........... and then they come to their home then after having bath they go to gurudwara and bow down in front of SGGS ji....... that's what I call a cheap level of hypocrisy (for whatever the reason they have ).....
This world never seen sardars doing the rape of girls....
This world world never seen sardars begging on roads...
This world never seen sardars teasing the girls physically ...
and many more nice things are about sardars...
but generally we don't even hesitate to compare the sardars with monas..just because we can see few sardars doing the bad things from the thousands of good sardars...
The fault is not in sardars ...the fault lies in the sight of eyes of the people...
  11. I used to get judged by people for not combing my beard but no-one had taught me the right way. After shower when my face is wet, I apply about 1 tablespoon of mustard oil called saron da tel in Punjab. Apply generously depending on your beard's length, but I just need 1 tablespoon. Then use a thick spaced comb to comb your beard. The mixture of water and oil will make your beard amazingly soft and easier to comb.

I had to say the same thing........mustard oil is great

  12. I thought a patit sikh is a fallen sikh. A sikh that has been initiated at one time into the khalsa but not kept his/her vows and thus broken/defaced their own amrit.

I'm not too sure why some people refer to ANY mona as a patit, when that is not the case.

As Chatanga mentioned above, some of them put more than their heart into the seva whereas some full amritdharies just walk around as if they don't need to do anything.

Many of these type of monas that get involved in seva and many other activities ...end up embracing the khalsa eventually and become amritdharies.

Do we really want to start segregating and ignoring them like brahmins do ??

Don't we end up putting them off and discourarging any hope of them embracing khalsa further down the path ?

Has no one on here ever really come across a mona that is a sikh of the higher order, in terms of actions, devotion and conduct ?

I have one question.. when it comes to follow the principles of sikhi like keeping hair and wearing turban etc etc...why do people start judging the character of amritdharis as bad and monas as good...

I do wonder because when we already know every community is a combination of both nice and bad people then why we point out bad amritdhari people?? and we don't point out good amritdhari people??

I think its a case of identity of sikhism (bana) and those who don't follow( maybe for whatever the reason) should know who were sikhs actually and talking about the character seems to be stupidity over here...

try to point out good amritdhari so that our life can be bloomed more and more.......
