  1. WJKK WJKF. Just a point to add, all the suggestions are very good. I am in the UK and I don't know about US hospitals but, Me and my wife are both Amritdhari and I also took into the delivery with me a small sarbloh bata and patase. When my son was born the mid wife cleaned him, wrapped him in a towel and placed him in the incubator. I filled the bata with warm water ane put in 5 patase. Then I took out my kirpan, which I also rinsed under warm water, got into bir ras position and stirred the patase in the bata whilst reciting Jap Ji Sahib at the same time. Once Jap Ji Sahib was complete i did ardas and I put 5 drops of the Amrit from the tip of the kirpan into my boys mouth. I gave the rest of the prepared Amrit to my wife. Only then did my wife give him his first feed.

This is called janam sanskar and is found in taksaal maryada. I was taught about this in gurmat class when I was growing up.

Hope this helps also. WJKK WJKF

  2. WJKK WJKF,

well, I didnt "realease" anything - my main intention was to stop masturbating - thats why I asked - I knew that people here would comment "its ok" and stuff - because they are themselfs struggling - But I did it - it was very hard - i wont lie. But I had the will - and guru jis Kirpa - I didnt do any ardaaas - because it wouldnt help in any way - why would Guru ji help me for such an tiny and unreasonable problem - furthermore it was all up to me - I only do Ardaas for Sarbat da bhalla not for myself. You just have to be a "man" and control yourself. And yes I can say everything bettered - the first 1 month was really difficult to master - but it worked out with discipline - i knew i had to do it on my own and i knew that none could/would help me.

I think I have control over it now - every day is a battle but now my shield and speer has the same scope /length like the on of my sparring partner ( Kaam). I keep battling with him.

BTW: BritishSingh - your advice wasnt good.. really .. really? I should find a wive thats your solution? Dude.. learn about Sikhi please - why should I marry someone ? Only to satisfy my sexual desires? Thats abuse..

My point was that if you do have any sexual desires it is best in the confines of a marriage. Eg I am amritdhari so is my wife we both love each other very much. We both do simran and path together, anything sexual I/we want to do we do together as a couple. We have never had any sexual relations with anyone else only with each other as husband and wife. This is part of gristhi jeevan. We are human we do have desires but we cannot let these desires control our lives. This is where gristhi jeevan comes in (desire in moderation). Sikhi marriage puts naam simran and gurbani at the centre of married life. All other desires and wishes come second. Guru comes first. I don't know what more to write to explain what I meant. So I hope this helps. I am glad you have overcome your problems. May WAHEGURU bless you with naam.

    Bhul chuk maaf.

  3. My point was that as amritdharis we should know how to use the kirpan given to us by Guru Ji and Gatka came to mind because it is connected to sikhi. If there is another Sikhi way to use the kirpan then please share.

As for non armed combat for Sikhs, I have heard of hathka. Also as amritdharis we should never be unarmed with some very strict exceptions such as going on an airplane.

  4. Waheguru is everything. We must remember our purpose of being here. It is to merge with Waheguru. This is done with Naam Simran, reading Gurbani, doing Kirtan and Seva etc... Then the 10th Gate will open and you shall be free from reincarnation.

Gurbani is talking about Babur, but how about all the other people who do/did bad things such as: Hitler, Mussolini, Saddam Hussein, Ivan the terrible, Osama Bin Laden, etc.... How much terror did they bring? Waheguru let it happen also, therefore you can say whenever there is a war that does God care?

Gurbani tells us that Waheguru is love and that he has started the process call the universe. In this process everything is happening, i.e. Birth, Living and Death. There are wars amongst animals and plants over territory or a mate.

If we dwell on these worldly things then we miss our purpose of being here. In the shabad you mention, Guru Nanak Dev Ji is retelling history and explains that yes Waheguru watched over these terrible events, BUT you MUST always read the last lines to get the message because in the end of the shabad Guru Nanak Dev Ji is telling us just as he tells us in almost every shabad that:

We must let go of our Ego whilst we are alive then Wheguru Ji's name can grow and blossom inside you.

  5. In Sri Dasam Granth, Guru Gobind Singh Ji maharaj states in Sampooran Ramayan that Ram Chander (in Treta Yuga) ruled his kingdom for 10,010 years.

Dasa Sahaansara Dasa Barakha Paramanaa ॥ Raaja Karaa Pura Aaudha Nidhaanaa ॥ Taba Lau Kaal Dasaa Neearaaeala ॥ Raghubara Siri Marita Daanka Bajaaeala ॥834॥

    दस सहंस्र दस बरख प्रमाना ॥ राज करा पुर अउध निधाना ॥ तब लउ काल दसा नीअराई ॥ रघुबर सिरि म्रित डंक बजाई ॥८३४॥

Ram ruled in Avadphpuri for ten thousand and ten years, then according to time schedule, the death beat its drum.834.

  6. In the great darkness of this world, the Lord revealed Himself, incarnated as Guru Arjun.

O Mat'huraa, consider this essential truth: to save the world, the Lord incarnated Himself.

Whoever meditates on Guru Arjun Dayv, shall not have to pass through the painful womb of reincarnation ever again

This can all be found in Ang 1409.

I thought we don't believe that god can take human form. It's these kinds of things that confuse me.

Waheguru is the light. Guru Nanak Dev Ji was born with this light and then passed on the light to Guru Angad dev Ji and so on to Guru Gobind Singh Ji who passed on the light to the eternal shabad Guru, Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji. You need to understand the purpose of your being. You are given this life to earn a profit. This isn't about money but about karma. Do good karma and erase any deficit of bad karma so you have a profit of good karma. The way to do this is to do meditation of naam simran and read as much Gurbani as you can. Do not dwell on worldly things because it is meaningless. You can only take naam simran with you when your life ends. No one knows when their life will end so don't waste even a second, concentrate on the name of Waheguru.

  7. Guru Nanak explains how the world was created by God. However he doesn't explain that man evolved from other species. Doesn't mention dinosaurs. Says man will never know how old the universe is (scientists know it's approx 15 billion years old).

Why couldn't he explain how we got here in the first place?

A day is one rotation of the earth's axis. A year is the earth's one orbit of the sun. At the beginning of the universe there was no earth, no sun so it is false and impossible to say that the universe is 15 billion years old because there was no earth then so there was no year. Only the creator knows when he created this universe and the endless other universes.
