  11. Waterloo Youth Kirtan Darbar

    Vaheguru ji ka Khalsa, Vaheguru ji ki Fateh

    With the kirpa of Guru Sahib and the Sangat, there will be a Waterloo YOUTH KEERTAN DARBAR for the first time in May. With the efforts/seva of a gursikh family in waterloo, who have recently lost their son, Daljit Singh, last year in a fight against cancer, they are humbly inviting everyone with open arms to join in Sangat on May 19th to sing wonderful praises of Guru Ji. So please help us spread the word to family and friends.

    Saturday, May 19th @ Kitchener Gurughar

    The Program times are as follows:

    6:00pm – 6:30pm: Prakaash & Rehraas Sahib

    6:30pm – 7:00pm: Simran

    7:00pm – 4am: Youth Keertan

    **There will be a BUS leaving Dixie Gurughar at 5:00 PM SHARP !!! Please email or call Sevadaars to get your name on the bus list.**

    There will also be an AMRIT SANCHAAR on the night of, starting at 8:00PM.

    All Singhs/Kaurs wishing to receive Amrit are to contact Sevadaars to get your name on the list. If you do not have Kakkars, they will be provided but all Abhilaakhees are required to do kesi-asnaan (includes washing your hair) prior to the Amrit Sanchaar.     For those of you who came to this weekends Youth Keertan at cambridge gurughar know how great this keertan program was which was done by youth from all over ontario. It was such an amaazing atmosphere that each and everyone who came LOVED!

  18. Letters To God!

    Sangat jio, a new tv series called "Letters to God" representative had gotten in touch with sevadaars in order to find thoughtful young children between ages of 6-10. This is a great chance for sikh youth to represent sikhi on tv. They will be required to do a number of things, please read the detailed information below..

    Dear Parents/Teachers/Co-ordinators:

    Letters to God, the new television series for Vision TV in Canada, and the Faith and Values channel in the U.S., has been interviewing kids across the city of Toronto about the letters they have written to God. This series is produced by LZG Communications Inc. and will start airing in the spring of 2007.

    We are committed to including a wonderful mix of curious and thoughtful children of all cultures, religions and races and would like to know what they are thinking when they think about God.

    We will be taping segments on Saturday, March 10th and Sunday, March 11th as well as Saturday, March 31st and Sunday, April 1st and would like to have children between the ages of 6 and 10 years old, participate.

    In order for the children to be part of this series, we require his/her letter, a drawing, and a signed attached release form from their parent. We will arrange to pickup original letters, drawings and release forms immediately. The drawing is very important! We would like to display it as backdrop.

    Although it would be great to include everyone who writes to God, we are limited to choosing only a certain number of letters.

    We will chose which letters they will read on camera, and will ask them questions about both the letter and other related topics when we do the on-camera interview.

    While we don’t want to influence what the children write, we appreciate that the children may need a little help getting started. We’ve prepared a list of topics, below, that you may want to consult to help get going.

    We’re looking for letters that are heartfelt. Concerns the children may have, problems or situations they have experienced or are experiencing. Things they want changed in life.

    We’ve received a lot of letters thanking God…but now we need letters that get to the heart of what kids are concerned about.

    Below are some examples. The children may include 2 or 3 of the subjects below.

    * Divorce, Marriage, New family

    * Adoption, Babies

    * Miracles

    * Love: Girl friend/boy friend

    * Sadness: Death

    * Family

    * Fears and Joys.

    * Wealth and Equality.

    * My God versus your God

    * Memories

    * Getting older

    * Forgiveness

    * Environment

    * Creation

    * Greed

    * Science vs Religion

    * What would they do to fix the world

    * Do different religions cause problems

    * Apologize to God

    - WE ARRANGE PICK UP OF ORIGINALS

    - LETTERS CHOSEN

    - PRE-INTERVIEWS CONDUCTED WITH CHILDREN BY PHONE AFTER SCHOOL

    - IF CHOSEN, INTERVIEW TIME IS SET UP & INFORMATION RE: FILMING SENT TO PARENTS

    - FILMING ON SATURDAY, MARCH 10 AND SUNDAY, MARCH 11TH

    DAY OF TAPING

    You can expect that on the day of filming there will be a number of children being interviewed, and we will have comfortable facilities for you and your children as they wait for their turn to be on camera.

    The New Year is just around the corner which means its almost time for remembrance of Guru Gobind Singh Ji's Gurpurab! On the 6th of January 2007, the Sikh Students of York University will be holding a Keertan Darbar at Dixie Gurdwara Sahib, from 5:00-12pm to collectively sing Guru Sahib’s Keertan all nite, with Sikh youth from all over Ontario before school starts up again!! For those of you who have not been to a YKD, all Keertan is done by the YOUTH, and such and uplifting experience. Don’t miss this!!

    There will be translation screens up, which will translate the Keertan line by line, to make it easy to understand, so make sure to leave your calendars open for SATURDAY, JANUARY 6TH, 2007!!!!! Please view the poster for more details.
