  1. But Sir, they are not Gurus pictures, they are what the artist perceives them to be.

you miss the point, its not what Guruji looks like, its what they are portrayed as.

I remember someon posting a picture of an original painting of one of the Guru Sahibs in the classical Indian style.

Baba Nand Singh Ji painted a saroop of Guru Nanak Devji based on partak darshan.

Just coz its wrong to worship something doesnt mean its wrong to have it.

  2. thats interesting wen he came to my bro's house all he did was get ill

    161242[/snapback]

whats that got to do with anything?

what makes you think Gursikhs don't get ill, even Guru Harkrishan Sahib Maharaj died of smallpox - Gursikhs dont do things for themselves.

As far as you know he was taking pain from your brothers family on to himself.

  3. We haven’t spread our beautiful religion to other parts of the world because we are afraid of the power the raw spiritual, untainted energy that new sikhs often have.

no, preaching/spreading the "gospel" is not part of Sikhi - we are tolerant of other faiths/beliefs.

you obviously dont have to born into it - thats brahminvaad

If someone asks you about Sikhi you tell them, but I dont see actively going out and advertising it should be done.

I don’t think it’s a good idea to do what other religions have done in the past and are doing. There are different ways to reach out to the world other than going door-to-door and forcibly converting people.

    this i agree with

  4. most ancient saints before Guru Nanak Dev ji covered their heads and had uncut hair.

the maryada we've been given as Sikhs is just one way of many to become one with God.

people nowadays are obsessed with outward things and dont realise that prem, paath and simran are the most important things - the physical aspects follow naturally, and are only mandatory if you want to become amrit dhari.

Sikhs dont have a dominion over God - what makes you think that he was in a different saroop to the modern Khalsa that he wouldnt become on with God.

outward appearance will always be secondary to whats inside of you.

Sikhi was revealed by Guru Nanak Dev Ji - it has always been here - Bhagat Ravidas Ji's Bani is in Guru Granth Sahib and as such he is one of our Gurus.

Where is That Door of Yours, and where is That Home, in which You sit and take care of all?

Rhetorically asks where the door is i.e. where is the door to get to God, and where is His home. Remember that Gurbani can be interpreted on many levels, but basically the door, I believe, refers to the tenth gate, anf the home refers to the human body. i.e. there is no use wandering about looking for God because He is inside of you and is accessed through teh tenth gate.

The Sound-current of the Naad vibrates there for You, and countless musicians play all sorts of instruments there for You.

Naad is the unstruck sound heard when one is advanced in their level of meditation.

Wind, water and fire sing of You. The Righteous Judge of Dharma sings at Your Door.

    Dharma = way of life

    The judge = Dharamrai

There are so many Ragas and musical harmonies to You; so many minstrels sing hymns of You.

Rags are musical measure that set the mood and tone of the shabad, thus giving an implied meaning.

    ...

The Siddhas in Samaadhi sing of You; the Saadhus sing of You in contemplation.

Siddhas are holy people, samaadhi is a meditative state where one is oblivious of the time passing, the surroundings they are in, and the things around them. Sadhus are are also holy people.

    ...

    anything else?
