  1. Thank you ji for all your kind words, support and responses. I feel that this programme should be for the people by the people hence why everyone's contribution is welcome - not just the media savies.
  2. Thank you ji, it's because of your support that I keep on doing them.
  3. Thank you kindly for your response. However I feel that this programme should be for the people from the people and hence everyone's contribution is welcome.
  4. Thank you kindly for responding but I feel this programme should be from the people and not the experts so everyone's contribution is welcomed.
  5. Don't worry Prem, as a fellow Sikh who wants to promote his religion and culture, misrepresentation will be doing myself as much harm as my community. That's why I agreed to do it as opposed to some BBC jounalist to ensure we had a fair say.
  6. Good idea Veer Ji - I'm sure they'll be a great source of explosive stories here - but can you suggest any contacts (if you prefer to remain discrete then email me at sody@sody.couk). Many thanks.
  7. Dear SikhSangat, Writer/performer Sody Singh here inviting fellow brothers and sisters to present their ideas and thoughts on a new BBC Radio4 programme to be developed later this year which I will be co-presenting with a Muslim colleague on the turbulent history of Sikhs and Muslims. It's a sensitive topic but an interesting one which will shed light on the myths and realities of Sikh and Muslim communities in the UK.The programme will not be told by experts but those in the community (both Sikh and Muslim). From historic Muslim-Sikh tensions in Mogul times to the riots in Slough (UK) in 1997, the two communities seem to have been at odds. And yet in the Britain of the 1950s -1970s, Asians were just happy to meet another Punjabi speaking family. Religion did not come into it. I would welcome your thoughts on the programme and any suggestions that you may have on historical events, potential interviewees and topics which should and should not be discussed. Your own experiences of Islam and Muslim interactions will also be appreciated. As always, I look forward to your comments. Kind regards, Sody http://www.sody.co.uk
  8. Dear Veers and Bhen Jis, Writer/performer, Sody Singh Kahlon here just expressing my sincere thanks for the kind words and generous support that the Sikh sangat has offered me over the years - and most recently with my latest theatre show "Soul Sikher". I dearly hope that a fellow Sikh brother/sister will take up the performing baton soon because I am getting too old for this game! We really need positive Sikh representation in theatre/media to maintain a presence in a very under-represented part of British life and in particular to further the Sikh voice to mainstream/non-Sikh audiences as well as those who have drifted from the path. And for the SikhSangat who have commented on my beard, rest assured it is not trimmed and not a goatee - more a Godee - it has been groomed by "Him", not me :T: Once again many thanks for all your support. Best wishes, Sody http://www.sody.co.uk
