  1. They have lost the plot. Caste system is based on a hierarchy. I am higher than x because i have a certain job and born in a higher family and x can never achieve my spot because my genetics are one of a kind and will need to go through multiple births and deaths before he can reach my caste.

Today a blue collared cannot marry a white collared because of the blue collared job is considered low in society. All those who want to fight caste should go after these white collared type of Sikhs. Why target the Sikh who has been beaten down. I know because he won't fight back. The white collared Sikhs would have you thrown out in a split second on your behinds. You are scared of them. Sri Guru Nanak Dev ji went after the Brahmims, the white collared, first. If you want to follow in his foot steps then tackle the white collared people who have taken over your Gurdwaras.

  2. it has to do with maryada , why are you so dense !! ofcourse the other reason is genetic problem that might occur

Don't get frustrated. Some Sikhs like to marry their own blood family and even their cousins. They like the relaxed man made maryada that allows them to marry their own sisters and cousins. Keep it in the family............who knows maybe they can have children with a third eye and then scream..........HINDOOOOOO

  3. How can we accept God coming into this world in human form? The Siddhas (people who try to attain spiritual powers by living in jungles) are tired by sitting with their eyes closed to find and see God but are been unable to. (Shabad Hazaray, Guru Gobind Singh Ji)

The correct translation for above would be: In what way can Akal Purakh take human form? The key word in the above tuk is ਕਿਮ, which translates into "what way". Sri Guru Gobind Singh Sahib ji in the same shabad closer to the end says this about the forms of Akal Purakh:

Creating the earth, the sky and the nether regions, the One God pronounces Himself to have many forms.

  4. The Sahibzade were married to death, marriages are suppose to be happy. We should be happy that they are with Waheguru again.

What makes you think they were not with Vaheguru when on this Earth? Vaheguru is the Husband and the union of marriage happens with Guru Sahib's kirpa to be married with Vaheguru. No one is telling people to be crying their eyes out all day. It is a time of reflection for Sikhs. A time to understand Sikh history of the battles and sacrifice Sikhs and the Gurus made for the Khalsa Panth at this time. And not to stuff your face with food and drinks and gossip among the family and friends. It is no secret this is how punjabis spend their time on Christmas break. Sikhs complain, I have no time to dedicate time toward learning the deeper roots of Sikhi. Now at this time of the year the Sikh has time, but he is not interested in contemplating over Gurbani. Instead he is more interested in the maya of the world. Sit the kids down beside you and learn and teach the kids something about Sikhi. Instead of teaching them of Saint Nickolas. Give them the virtuous teaching of the 8th Guru dedicated his young age and life to the sick. Anyone can give a gift, but giving your life to Vaheguru has not been taught to Sikh kids or many parents. Parents have in their mind of their children growing up to be doctors, lawyers, engineers, other respected professionals. Never do parents say I want my children to be sacrificed as the Guru gave his children for my freedoms or let my child be dedicated to learn Gurbani from day one and become a Giani. The thinking is my kids can learn Gurbani when they grow up. Making Sikhi a part time job and becoming a professional a dream they live and breath all day for their kids.

  5. Coming back to the the main question is why is this sudden push happening now for the Bikrami calendar? The RSS have said they will ditch Badal if he does not promote their plans in Punjab. Why are the Sant Samaj silent on all other Sikh issues apart from the calendar?

A more important question would be to ask, why is the Nanakshahi Calendar being pushed and forced on the Sikhs through scare tactics by those who label everyone who is not their breed as RSS? The Brikrami Calendar has been used by the Gurus and Sikhs ever since Sri Guru Nanak Dev ji came on to this world. The Gurus gave Sikhs a one of a kind code of conduct, institutions, flag, language, uniform, Granths from other religions, if needed to be would not the Gurus created a Calendar? Is this one flawed Purewal Calendar, which robbed the name Nanakshahi Calendar going to make Sikhs look distinct from other religions? Everyone should look into this topic and find out for themselves who is right in this discussion.

  6. So you deny the fact that several events do not occur for years and several occur twice a year in the Bikrami calendar? Why was there no Parkash Gurpurabh of Guru Gobind Singh in the years 1991 or 1993 for example?

If you continue using the Bikrami Calendar, Vaisakh will fall in autumn in a few thousand years. Thats why Nanakshahi is deemed important by some. So isn't it better to have this Nanakshahi calendar with fix dates, where a gurpurab happens once a year and the seasons will not conflict with Gurbani over time?

Secondly, you profusely mention Barah Maha. But do you know our Gurbani Barah Maha starts at Chet while the Bikrami Calendar ends at Chet? If you love Bani so much then why are you opposing the calendar that puts Chet as first month exactly like Bani does.

Here comes the scare tactics that the Nanakshahi supporters have been using since day one. Every gurpurab comes in the Bikrami Calendar every year. 1 mile will be 1 mile, which means one Bikrami year will always be one Bikrami year. No months disappear into thin air in the Bikrami Calendar or because the RSS traveled back in time and erased them. However when you convert to the Nanakshahi Calendar, which has less days you will obviously have some gurpurab not happening one year or twice in another. The Nanakshahi Calendar has less days. Let's take a simple example 1000 miles and take 1000 kilometers. Pick a point in the first 20 kilometers and then tell us how many times it appears in 1000 miles and 1000 kilometers. Obviously, this one point will happen more often in 1000 miles and it will happen at different point because 1 mile is equal to 1.609 kilometers. 1 mile is not equal to 1 kilometer. Similar manner Bikrami Calendar is not equal to Nanakshahi Calendar.

How will Vaisakh fall in autumn in a few thousand years? Bikrami Calendar is based on lunar and solar days. This is again a scare tactic. Fixed dates of the Nanakshai Calendar are wrong because Purewal did not even do the conversions necessary to find the correct date of gurpurabs. Instead Purewal said he can fix this problem later. According to the Nanakshahi Calendar Guru Gobind Singh Sahib jis birthday was being celebrated on the wrong date, when the Calendar was made. Instead of the actual date of January 1st the Nanakshahi Calendar had it at January 5th. All the Sikh history dates are wrong in the Nanakshahi Calendar. How can we accept this calendar?

The Nanakshahi Calendar is not an independent calendar. Bikrami Calendar and the Gregorian Calendar are independent calendars. The Nanakshahi Calendar is completely dependent on the Gregorian Calendar. So how is this a unique calendar. Should we now start saying the Christians have influenced Purewal to force a Christian Calendar on Sikhs?

  7. You learn your history.

I got a funny feeling you might be one of those that takes his 'facts' from wikipedia so might well come back again quoting some lovely wholesome family-friendly story about the moon etc. You'd be wrong to do so but that is the limit of your knowledge of 'history' isn't it my friend ?

I took a look at wikipedia and even the worst source for rich knowledge has the facts more accurate than you. You have a hinduphobia and it's the reason you would accept any story, which will degrade an Avtar of "Hinduism" like Krishna. Krishna was not part of any religion. People like you put divides and boxes around Krishna you cannot understand. Krishna was an Avtar sent by Vaheguru and made many mistakes, but not the one your hinduphobia mind constructed to dishonor an Avtar sent by Vaheguru and then the event was celebrated as Holi. Maharaja Ranjit Singh married a Muslim woman because of her looks......I won't get graphic, but everyone knows what this means. All you Sikhs get on edge and start rolling your sleeves ready to have a fist match because someone so called speaks bad of Maharaja Ranjit Singh, the Sikh Kingdom King.

I am scared to mention how Vaisakhi was changed in the same manner as Holi by Sri Guru Gobind Singh Sahib ji because you would make up another story to degrade one of the Avtars sent by Vaheguru.

  8. It is incredibly cretinous to bring 'holi' into any conversation about xmas trees.

Holi is a crass, obscene and ribald carnival of immorality. No person of any moral fibre, whether religious or not, would partake in it. Its origins are obviously the commeration of krishna's orgy conquests of the cow-girls but the way it is commemerated is almost as disgusting as the thing that is being commemorated itself :Drugged-up mental mayhem.

They way some of you here are continously equating this despicable 'festival' with the practice of our children being jolly and happy by opening their little presents and having a little xmas tree demonstrates very well, I think how many of you have lost your way in a very very sad and surprising way.

Holi is not celebrated because of this. Learn your history.

  9. Christmas trees have nothing to do with the religious side of Christmas. It is only a decoration.

We give and receive Christmas cards. These things will not make me a Christian.

I want my lad to take part in the seasonal celebrations.

It's a free world...no one should be looked down on if they choose to be more multicultural than others.

You are 200% right about this is a "free" world. Maybe you missed it. But your Guru, Guru Gobind Singh Sahib ji said not to participate in Holi and instead started the Holla Mohalla. An example of not to celebrate Christmas.

Christmas trees are a creation of pagans. when the pagans became Christians they still followed their old beliefs of worshipping trees and introduced tree worship into Christianity. The Christmas tree is a religious symbol thought to be a cultural thing. You are not being more multicultural and no more than the dude taken a hit of various drugs and telling others they need to relax more in life and chill out.

Gifts under the tree are a blend of paganism and Christianity. Saint Nicholas started the gift giving idea and the pagans brought the tree to be worshipped in various forms. One way is through putting gifts underneath it and then retrieving them on a later date as the tree is making an offering to the receiver. Saint Nicholas better known as Santa Claus today is the one who provides these gifts to all through the tree.

If you were in india right now would you partake in the up coming Holi and call it multiculturalism?

  10. look I'm not a calendar historian but I know when my Guru ji says trust no-one else to manage your own affairs , never trust those who give false promises , then surely those brahmin who have betrayed their own promises to sikh kaum over many decades should not be the ones to indicate when we should commerate our own panthic diwases ...do we really need to stick to a calendar which makes our commerations and history dance around the calendar year over the decades sometimes even disappearing? Are we not capable of agreeing to set the dates to solar calendar that the world uses since we are aiming to spread Khalsa Raj across the globe ourselves as a panth ? It seems a naive hope I know but I don't want be asking a stranger for when I should do something ....being self-reliant is the aim of the game

By staying with the Bikrami Calendar, which even the Gurus used, who are the Sikhs trusting to manage their affairs?

  11. http://www.sikh24.com/2014/12/19/badals-withdraw-security-cover-given-to-jathedar-balwant-singh-nandgarh/#.VJR7T14AKA

In this article he says he is opposed against the amended Nanakshahi Calendar. Also to point out I think its not because his stance on the calender issue is that he got his security taken away it was because of him speaking out against RSS and lately stating that Khalistan is the only solution. To me this jathedar isn't afraid of speaking but his stance on calendar issue is confusing.

I think this Jathedar is good. However he is pushed in a corner when Panthic Jathabandis do not perform their duties. Not too long ago a report came of people drinking alcohol in a Diwan Hall at Takht DamDama Sahib. The Jathedar reported this to SGPC, who did nothing and even did not let the Parkash of Sri Guru Granth Sahib ji take place in this Diwan Hall because of the Beadbi taking place. Who is responsible of taking care of the sanctity of the Gurdwaras? It is Panthic Jathabandis. However no Panthic Jathabanadis provided any kind of support. Sant ji heard someone had thrown tobacco in the Sarovar of Sri Harmandir Sahib and came back to Punjab as quick as possible from Mumbai. Our Takhts and Gurdwaras are overrun by corrupt people, but this does not give any excuse to not stop beadbi from taking place.

    http://www.sikh24.com/2014/10/30/jathedar-nandgarh-sgpc-has-failed-to-stop-alcoholic-beverages-in-diwan-hall-despite-complaints/#.VJSEpsANk

I don't know if the Jathedars stand is unclear on the Nanakshi Calendar or it can be news reporters misguiding the sangat on the Jathedars true stand on the Calendar. It will not be the first and last time news reporters are misleading Sikh Sangat on Panthic issues.

  12. Never understand the reason of jathedar wanting the need of a bodyguard from Punjab police.

If they want to solve this calendar issue then shut off these missionaries (dhami etc) and all sant Samaj. Calendar issue does not require knowledgeable religious person. Akal takht should hire few highly educated ppl on a contract basis and they can easily fix this issue. Avoid fakes like purewal or any biased group of certain Jathabandi.

Guru Gobind Singh Sahib ji had no issue using the bikrami calendar to tell us when events took place. So why are the current Sikhs allergic to the bikrami calendar? These guys have a hinduphobia and nothing else. Trying to make a name for themselves. When one of the 5 jathedar's agrees with the missionary corrupt Sikhs then he is a hero otherwise he's a brahmin and under the pressure of badal.

  13. Kids are not that dumb.

I and many gursikhs I know grew up with xmas trees in their homes during childhood, guess what.. we guru dey sikh.. it took nothing from our sikhi.

Surpressing the desire of kids to be involved in small pleasures like xmas trees may only work against you in the long run.. there are many ultra strict gursikh parents with grown up children who are monay/drinkers etc.

This argument was put forward already and it was given a response. Here it is:

Guru Gobind Singh Sahib ji celebrated Vaisakhi, but in a Gurmat way of blessing Sikhs with 5 Kakkars and Punj Pyare. The Sixth Guru took Diwali and celebrated it in a Gurmat way of going to the Gurdwara and celebrating with the Sadh sangat and Gurbani. Holi was taken and transformed into Holla Mohalla. Sikhs took the concept of a New Year and turned it into Gurmat. Sikhs don't celebrate New Years to worship the two faced God Janus. Sikhs go to the Gurdwara sing Shabads, listening to katha, and partake in langar and seva. The Guru picked Holi, Vaisakhi and Diwali dates to influence Sikhs to come to the Guru and not wander off into mindless celebrations. New Years has the same concept attached to it. Instead of going to clubs, pubs, bars, house parties or other mindless functions the Sikhs choose to come to the Guru.

The same cannot be said about those who put up a Christmas tree. You put a tree up, decorate the tree, put presents around the tree, and exchange gifts in the same fashion. Guru Sahib would have taken this day and changed it into Gurmat. He and the sangat would have went around fed the poor, gave them necessities, sang Gurbani and joined everyone to the feet of the Guru in the Gurdwara. Guru Sahib would have brought the people closer to Gurbani. Instead the Christmas tree promoters are joining together around a tree, which originated from a pagan ritual.

It is being ignorant and calling the Guru foolish when people say it is for the kids. Do you not believe the kids back in the 10 Gurus time wanted to play and throw colors on each other? Any kid would have had a blast participating in this ritual. By the Christmas tree people standards it is evil to take kids away from being included in such playful activities and even being a Taliban. Yet our Guru, Sri Guru Gobind Singh Sahib ji said not to participate in this ritual and celebrate Holla Mohalla.

  14. Equally then to sikhis who worship hindu gods, (idoltry), who have statuses pictures etc in their houses, as do celebrating hindu celebrations and celebrating cultural non religious indian pagan celebrations alike Christmas.

Sikhs do not worship any Gods of any religion, sect, and cult. The definition of a Sikh is very clearly defined in Sri Guru Granth Sahib ji and other Bani's of the Gurus. Sikhs dedicate their lives to One God that belongs to no religion, sect and cult.

Christmas is the day of Christ birthday and it is celebrated for this reason. Santa Claus was not created for marketing purposes as some wish to believe and spread this propaganda. Santa Claus is Saint Nicholas who was a Christian revered by Christians for different reasons, including his gift giving nature. Obviously the big franchises have given a marketing spin to the current Santa Claus. However the main idea of Santa Claus is still tied into Christmas and the big franchises profit off of it. Santa Claus is also known as the father of Christmas, who would tell others to celebrate Christ's birthday with drinks and food.

The Christmas tree origins are tied into German pagans worshiping Oak trees. As they were converted into Christians they took on the evergreen tree to disguise their real intent from the Christians. They described how the evergreen tree reminded them of the Holy trinity to the Christians in their effort to still worship trees. Many others worshiped trees and when converting to Christianity they brought with them the idea of still worshiping trees. It is also believed the Christmas tree will scare of the devil for the coming New Year.

Sikhs today are allergic to Hindu rituals and have adapted to include Christian and more western religions rituals to their lives. Instead of having brown paper bags on their head they have put on white bags on their head and now consider themselves to be more intelligent and pure.

  15. Please oh please answer this I have asked many times but everyone just ignores my question which is - we celebrate Bandi Chor Divas for 6th patshah good deeds in realising political prisoners from Gwalior. But why did Guru Amar Dass Ji state Sikhs should gather twice a year At Diwali and Vaisakhi, again which we now celebrate due to 10th patshah and 1699. what was the reason then?

Where does it say Guru Amar Das ji said this to the Sikhs?
