  1. I have learned that today a Sikh girl is to get married to a Bhuddist at Belvedere Gurdwara in secret.. I am deeply saddened to learn this, given the Akal Takht's Hukamnama which banned such practices from occrurring. The wedding was due to take place at Barking Gurdwara, but was cancelled due to mass protests by Sikhs. The bride and the Bride's family seemed to apparently accept the position and outwardley represented that the wedding ceremony was called off. However in secret, they planned another wedding on a Friday at Guru Nanak Darbar, Belvedere, in the hope that on a Friday, the activity will go unnoticed. This is completely unaccpetable and goes against Sikh principles and the Akal Takht's stance on interfaith marriages. 2 things make this case worse: 1. They were eductated on the point and so were not naive and innocent. Barking Gurdwara explained the position 2. In spite of being educated, they have tried to trick the panth and sneak around on a Friday, in the hope that they can get one over. This is ridiculous as it is as if they consider that you can steal the Guru's blessings, in the face of disrespect to the Guru's panth and the Guru's marayada. Why the reference to Cecil the Lion? The Lion may have been killed, but people are still protesting the evil actions of the poacher to highlight the injustice and disrespect. It is hoped that the protests will prevent future incidents of the same kind. I suggest that there should be protests and lodging of complaints in relation to the disrespect shown by the bride and the family, with a hope to preventing further disrespect by other people. Below are the details for the bride, her father and the Gurdwara and i consider that it would be in the best interests of all, particularly the future generations that the panth collectively, peacefully and politely, make our objections known in regards to the disregard shown by the family. No disrespect is intended and if I have made any mistakes please forgive me. Guru Nanank Darbar 01322 432847 Bride Haku Dhilon 07931 207465 Father sajjan Dhilon 07808938042
