  1. Sat Sri Akal all, I went to India around Diwali 08. I was shocked to find out that the custom across Punjab now is to book a Caterer (Halvai) to cook Langar. In fact I was appalled and quite upset, it goes totally against the concept of Seva and Langar in my opinion. I only have my experience off how Langar de Seva is done here in the UK, and that's all Seva. On the Sunday, it was set up as a buffet, with people entering the Langar hall in shoes. I been told that if the serving utensil touches the Sangats plate then that is "Jooth", there the utensils were being used by anyone to serve food themselves and placed back. One off the catering staff even dropped it on the floor and was going to put it back! I just wanted to know am I the only one to experience this or come across it? i'm sure that if people knew it wouldn't be happening.
