Vaheguru Ji Ka Khalsa Vaheguru Ji Ke Fateh The Sangat of Chapletown Road Gurdwara, Sikh Inspiration Class and Northernsikhs have got together to organise a Shabeel (giving of cold water) to commemorate the 400 years of the Shaheedi of Dhan Dhan Guru Aajan Dev Ji. The Shabeel will take place in the centre of Leeds on the 31st May from 11.30am – 2.30pm. We are asking all of you who will be in the centre of Leeds to come and help in the seva of giving cold drinks to passers by. It will be taking place infront of Next on Bond Street. Charity Car Wash 19th March 2006 In conjunction with North Sikhi Week 2006 Shaheedi Week 2006 Sikh Inspiration Classes Supported By B.O.S.S Northern Sikhs The Sikh Temple, Gurdwara Sahib, Chapeltown, Leeds The Charity Car Wash event that took place on Sunday the 19th Of March was a great success. In total £320 was raised by charitable donations including money raised from washing cars. The Gurdwara Sahib (Sikh Temple) in Leeds donated £101 together with a further £219 raised from the hard work of washing nearly 40 cars with some sangat donating more than the £2.50 price originally set per car. The queue had already started to grow when the car wash started at approximately 10.30 am and shortly afterwards students from as far as Manchester made the journey to Leeds to take part. The car wash continued non stop until 3pm with local youth and students from Leeds and Manchester all washing cars franticly. The funds raised from the charity car wash will go equally to the following locations 50/50 each (£160 / £160). Shaheedi Week - 13th – 19th March The Gurdwara Sahib in Leeds has organised a special and significant week long program to raise awareness in the Sikh Community about Martyrdom. The history of sacrifice that Guru Sahibaan and Gursikhs made in the past to preserve the Sikh Faith is remembered throughout this week with great love for the massive sacrifice made for our today and tomorrow. Raising money for the families of Gursikhs who have been martyred. The Shaheedi ends a commemorative charity car wash. The charity car wash will take place in conjunction with Northern Sikh’s North Sikhi Week and Sikh Inspiration Classes. All money raised from the charity car wash will go to families of shaheeds. (Sunday 19th March. All vehicles £2.50) 13th – 16th - There will be kirtan and katha from 6.30 till 8.30pm 19th – Divan from 10am till 1.30pm Charity Car Wash starts – 10.30pm till 2pm Parcharak, Bhai Beant Singh.
