How can you want there to be nothingness? Life is a precious gift and you can have for eternity. Waheguru Ji made this srishti for the Bhagats. And secondly there was never nothingness, there was always Waheguru. Nothingness has never existed and nothingness will never exist because Waheguru has always existed and will always exist.

Yeah that's seem way better for a Birthday.

Normally on my birthday my parents take me the Gurdwara after school for Matha Tek and listen to Rehras Sahib and the Ardas. Then we go home and just cut cake, eat food etc.

And come on evolutionary theory has got some merit. I mean sabre tooth tigers, things going extinct in living memory like dodos, the development of 'exotic animals' in isolated locations like the emu, or Komodo dragon.

Yeah I understand where your coming from but just because a bird went extinct, that doesn't prove evolution. Evolution by the way (in the biological sense) has 2 meaning:

There is macro evolution (changing of one kind of animals to another)

And micro evolution (variation between species)

Variation between species happens e.g. there are loads of types of cows, dogs etc. However a cow, dog becoming a non dog or a fish becoming an amphibian or whatever never happens. Macro evolution doesn't happen.

Currently accepted thinking seems to be that humans and dinosaurs did not exist concurrently (the opening scenes to The Flintstones are not historically accurate), and that humans as we know them today evolved after the extinction of large dinosaurs.

Actually that is not the case I think. There have been fossils of human and dinosaur footprints found together (Yes Together) in many places. And, there have been sightings in Africa of Dinosaurs still alive (today) in some of the swamp areas. There are only a few and when the locals of the swamp areas were shown picture of Dinosaurs (artist concepts) they picked out two which were like creatures they have seen. (The swamp areas are mostly unexplored, even by the state). And by the way who even named the creature a Dinosaur? The creature, before being called a dinosaur, was called a Dragon by everyone and there have been many stones found (like the Ica Stones) portraying dinosaurs and humans together. I'm not saying they co-existed for a fact, because we can't know and only Waheguru ji knows. I'm just trying to get across the point that these scientists don't know much and can't be sure.

Secondly about the extinction of the dinosaurs, no one even knows for sure how they came to be extinct. There is the hypothesis of 65 million years ago but be real, did anyone see that (apart from Waheguru, if that asteroid really hit). And if so where is the evidence?

Thirdly about evolution. There has been absolutely no evidence at all for evolution. No transitional fossils between kind of animals and the evidence actually goes against evolution.

2nd half of the video tells us the probability of even just 10 steps of evolution occuring perfectly and how it had to be a miracle, eliminating atheism.

And also if humans evolved (I'm not attacking you Dally at all, sorry if I seem like I am) where are the hundreds of species that had to be between monkeys and Humans?

I don't think that any ape man half species ever existed. Dhan Guru Maharaaj has never said anything on this.

Also Maharaj has never said that early humans were not Caveman. When Man was created by Preetam Pyare Waheguru ji, man was good and not barbaric as he was in Satyug, as far my understanding goes.

Correct me if I've got something wrong. Again, I'm just trying to get the point across that scientists can't be sure.

In our faith or in Sikh culture is there a structure in the household?  Is man/husband the head of the house?

During the lavaan/phere the man walks at front and leads the way.  In kalki avtaar, when guru ji is describing how humanity will fall and go wrong, guru ji says men will stop respecting their parents and will come under their womans control. In most Punjabi houses the female/wife is the head of the house these days (probably why everything is going wrong, men have forgotten their responsibilities)

What does Sikhi say about this? is the man supposed to be the head of the house?

    ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ ਜੀ ਕਾ ਖਾਲਸਾ ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ ਜੀ ਕੀ ਫ਼ਤਹਿ

Before I say anything, men and woman are both equal. They both own the house and are equal in position and probably make decisions together. They both can earn a living too because Dhan Sri Guru Gobind Singh Maharaaj in his 52 Hukams says not to eat from their earnings

I think this is meant to mean that the first person if necessary to go and fight is the man, then the woman because she will raise the kids (obviously the man will too). Not sure correct and forgive me I'm wrong.

    ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ ਜੀ ਕਾ ਖਾਲਸਾ ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ ਜੀ ਕੀ ਫ਼ਤਹਿ

Look, we can't just dismiss a whole religion just because of people who were evil. In fact those evil people had no sense of religions in the first place. Evil people exist everywhere, people who want to destroy the core of the faith we follow. Of course we have differences in history, but did Jesus Christ ever keep slaves? He would never have done and would have condemned it. The people corrupted the original teachings.

Is there not an equivalent in your religion to this? Will your Gurus come back? Do you accept that evil is ruling this world currently?

Our Guru Sahibs have told us that at this moment in time we are in Kaljug, the age of darkness/ignorance, where people will start to reject God in order to follow the taste of their tongue (slander, food) and lust. Kaljug is not only a period of time but also like a spirit being/essence as Kaljug met Guru Nanak Dev ji and was holding his tongue and his private parts in each hand and he claimed that these 2 will be predominant/rule in his kingdom/age. So the devil is not just a man (it could possibly be a lesser demon, as our Guru told us that these types of beings exist)

I remember reading a Bible quote : "There shall come in the last days scoffers, walking about their own lusts,"

Some people don't want to believe because they want to do whatever they want. How foolish.

However, don't fear. Guru Sahib has told us that the days will come where the Khalsa (the pure ones) will rule the world.

Right now I think we are in end times. The bible has a lot of prophecies concerning end times about the third temple and the end times and it looks like we're nearing, where religious people are going to be persecuted (as seen today). Guru Sahib has told us about end times and it will be dark but the world won't end. Peace will come afterwards. I'm not very educated on the subject but I can say even worse, darker times are coming.

There are a lot Sakhis (stories/prophecies) about what will happen, which you can research.

Do Sikhs believe in eternal life or that you are born again and again until the soul is truly enlightened?

When we die, if we were and an evil person and committed sins and followed the 5 evils of Lust, Anger, Greed, Attachement and Ego/Pride we get sent to hell to receive a punishment. There are levels of hell, so the murderers etc. Will have the worst punishment. Waheguru knows how long they will be punished. But God is very compassionate and even forgives the sinners, so he allows them to come back into the cycle of reincarnation. (Only humans can get liberations by the way)

If we were an okay person, we may have to come back, not through all of the life cycle, but come back as a human.

But if we were Dharmi (religious) and followed the path of our Gurus, staying true to your religion, fighting the battle against sin, doing good deeds serving others, serving God, experiencing God and repenting for our mistakes, we will get mukti (liberation). There are different levels of heaven and heavenly realms and the our soul will continue to live forever if we get to a certain state called Karam Khand or further into the ultimate heavenly realm called Sach Khand (the realm of truth). There's so much to talk about so I gave a very, very brief summary.

That is a very reasonable and fair system may i say.

Many christian denominations are too pushy. Actually - we have so many denominations! I am Anglican.

    Does Sikhi have variations?

Well the core of Sikhi is always the same but there are different types of Sikhs but we all have the same base and have to practice the same lifestyle.

For example there are Nihang (warrior) Sikhs, Taksali Sikhs, AKJ Sikhs. Each one has more of a different emphasis. We all do the same daily prayers, some like to add extra, some like to do more Kirtan (God's praises in musical form), some like to have perfect pronounciation of Gurbani. You can call it a denomination (if you want) but it's not really similar to the difference between Catholics and Protestants. It's more of a group of people with a liking to particular things in Sikhi

However there are some sects which have gone way off like Naamdharis and Radha Swamis. Be aware that these people are not Sikhs. They believe in a physical person not Sri Guru Granth Sahib being the Guru, even though Guru Gobind Singh Sahib ji (the 10th Guru) said know the scripture as the eternal, everlasting Guru.

    Hi

Question: if Sikhism is against evangelising at all  then how does the religion grow in numbers?  Do you want people of other cultures to become Sikh? I know they do- so it must be naturally by chance i presume.

Also i know muslims have caused a lot of trouble for Sikhs over a long time. Briefly, is their goal to make Sikh people convert? I presume there has been no problem between Sikhs and Christians - we seem to have respect and leave each other be!

Sikhi is not against preaching. Our Guru's preached themselves but the British when they invaded tried to tell people that we're not a preaching faith but we are.

The difference is that we don't go out to fully convert someone by force. We will tell them the basic facts and then if they want to convert great. If they don't that's also fine, as long as you take the main principle of chanting the creators name with love and singing his praises.

Just to clear up the confusion we do preach and do convert to Sikhi everyday. But we're not going to force them against their will.

So what happens to the average Sikh who wishes to study The Word in private? Can they have a copy at home? Forgive my confusion. All i know is that the Bible is to me the word of God snd i need, crave, access to it. So i have a small one of new testament always in my handbag, a bible beside my bed, several copies in the house and i give a copy to anyone who is interested.

    ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ ਜੀ ਕਾ ਖਾਲਸਾ ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ ਜੀ ਕੀ ਫ਼ਤਹਿ

    Hello Sister,

If a Sikh wants to study Guru Granth Sahib ji we listen to Katha (explanations of it/sermons) in the Gurdwara or even on YouTube or the internet. If someone wants to study in private there are certain conditions to follow. For example Guru Granth Sahib ji must be seated in a Palki Sahib and a bed etc. I'll post a picture to show you how Sikhs must take of Sri Guru Granth Sahib ji Maharaaj, the Sikh Akaal Takhat Regards Maryada (code of conduct) tells you what's needed. There are also books by scholars like Bhai Veer Singh ji, Bhai Sahib Randhir Singh ji which have deep explanations of Gurbani and history.

And we're not allowed to highlight any of it etc. (I've seen some Christians do that with their bible). We must take the utmost care with Guru Sahib. Even on our smartphones. So when in the Hazoori (presence) of Guru Sahib we have to cover our heads too. If we can't keep the whole scripture at home we keep small sections of it with the daily prayers and other prayers that are really common and they are called Pothi/Gutka Sahib's. We also cover Pothi Sahib's with cloths.

There's much much more that others can tell you about.

Sri Guru Gobind Singh ji Maharaj (the 10th Guru) said that Sri Guru Granth Sahib ji is the eternal Guru and there is no difference between him and the scripture. Our scripture is the living, eternal word and direct revelation from God and what we do is, if we want some advice or have some problems, offer a prayer standing before Sri Guru Granth Sahib ji Maharaaj (called an Ardaas) and we ask God for help from the bottom of our heart. Then we open Maharaj to a random Ang (it literally means limbs because our scripture is our Guru and it's not just pages) and read the hymn on the top left and that's our command from the Guru/God and it's called a Hukamnama. So many miracles have happened because of Hukamnama.

    Hi

Indeed that story is startling and important. Was it written in your Holy Book?

As a Christian i believe 100% in what The Bible says. All other books are the authors own conjectures usually.  I know that true Sikhs will also only go only by their own Holy Scriptures. So do refer me to your actual source please.

That's great. We recommend that you should follow your faith with a full heart every day. And you can take these 3 teachings of Sri Guru Nanak Dev ji Maharaaj to help you further.

    1st teaching

Naam Japo - which means recite the name of God and sing his praises as much as possible with a full heart. Guru Sahib has told us that when you pray and love God with a pure heart you are able to experience God (on the top of your head specifically, at a centre called Dasam Duaar - the tenth door) and you will feel bliss.

    2nd teaching

Kirat Karo - Earn an honest living. Work hard and earn money, that's great. But don't have greed for money and always work honestly. No lies, stealing etc. And also be grateful for what you God gives you.

    3rd teaching

Vand Ke Chhako - Share before you consume. This means before you eat or spend money, share with others. Give to charity out of love for you neighbour and spread the love of God with everyone.

If you can adopt these three teaching (there are many more, but these 3 teachings will help a lot), staying away from sins and vices like Lust, Anger, Greed, Attachment and Pride and your life will be successful.

    Hopefully that helped :)

O GurSikhs, know that the Bani, the Word of the True Guru, is true, absolutely true. The Creator Lord Himself causes the Guru to chant it.

So tell them that we believe that this Ilaahi Bani is revelation from God and that Maharaaj didn't copy but Maharaaj revelead the truth again that was lost.

And then ask them did we copy the Panj Khands? Is there any Caste system in Sikhi? Did we copy giving Woman shastars? Did we copy saying that woman are equal along with all skin colours?

And they point about some things being similar like rebirth. If you study it bit deeply on how Karam works in Hinduism compared to Sikhi you will realise many differences. For example the Hindus will say that God is not involved in Karma etc. and that if commit and Kilvikh (one of the four unforgivable Paaps in Hinduism) you can't be forgiven. But in Sikhi (the truth) Maharaaj says that he can forgive even the worst of Paaps. Not everything is the same.

This is a very good question from Bhai Sahib and we all need to know the answers so when we get questioned we can give such a Javaab (response) that they'll be like wow, Sikhi is Niara (unique).

Conclusion: Maharaj has given us the full truth. Some truth is in every religion but Sikhi has the full truth.
