That is a very good idea, if the sangat is participating in bringing forth topics that is very very very good and I suggest doing what they ask, afterall as a Sikh Student Exec you are a THEIR Sevadaar.

Also, in my previous post I didn't mean to say dont speak the truth, but do your parchaar strategically do it in away can have the best impact on youth possible.

the problem with going to deep or not is that, do you want to tell them the TRUTH or do you want to say it so they arent ofended, which will prob mean you aint gonna suceed in geting the message across and they aint gona get the full story. If you speak the truth and lay it out for them then its upto them and the kirpa of Guru that they will understand or not.

starting with basics might be a good option but you have to be firm on whats right n wrong......

So what do you think i should talk bout! weve had 3 meetings 2 wer talks about identity and 1 on karma. We also did debate on casts. I think you people are being too hard on these dear loving people. Give them everything or don't have the items for sale. That's my point of view. You question anyone because they don't have a sikh name and make the explain why they want it? Whatever happened to trust? This sounds quite backwards to me. Again, just don't sell the items if you are that scared of people abusing them!

I agree with "peacemaker" if people want to teach others about sikhi. Who are we to stop them? We should be helping them by giving them more information and whatever necessary!! We are lucky that people as the examples mentioned above respect our religion!!

What messes up is when people have the outer look but weak belief inside. That is why people should not be compelled to do it until they fully understand what is involved.

I totally agree people wear the panj kakaars but when asked why some people dont know it is good people are coming into sikhi however we should know as a sikh why we follow rehit and practice certain aspects of sikhism!

That is a interesting study and I think it does apply to us as we tend to listen others and follow them as it seems the right thing to do. We should use our head more and do things because we want to progress in sikhi and not just be a follower!!!

I think you should give her want she wants as educating people about sikhi and what it inovlves. We shouldnt turn away someone frum havin da chance to teach poeple about sikhi because there nt a sikh demselves!

I would reccomend dove for dry and damaged hair (the blue bottle) it works wonders or timotei for soft and smooth hair along with the timotei conditioner or baby shampoo!! dey all work!! however the best tip i can give you is to use plenty of thel to stop your hair falin out and for dry scalps!! its da best

sorry to say, but i think that show was not only to promote sikhism, but the image of a sikh person living in 21st cen. we need to accept the fact that sikhs are holding some very high positions in the world market, and those sikhs work as role models for yongesters. also bani and non of our guru ji asks us to stick in a particular dress code. also we should be very proud of our bana, but also bear in mind that what ever we wear should not damage the overall image of a sikh. i think it clearly means that we can wear colorful turbans, sherwani, wedding dresses etc.

also i would want to have a sikh wearing a bana and dumala and doing modelling on a ramp, because his that image need not to be displayed as it would not be a part of an exhibition.

i wouldnt class what she did to me as assault but hanji i am writng a complaint to wimbledon. This doesnt exscuse the way she reacted bu ti think this woman was a foreign new member of staff. I understand that she was panicked and that is why she reacted in such a way, but being in the secruity line of work she should have been informed, or informed herself about issues to do with religious symbols, specifically the kirpan.

Hanji i jus wanted to let you guys know that if you have any problems in future that you dont have to simply give in. I agree with ultimate paapi and would also recommend taking around copies of the acts with you, which is what i will do in future.

pehnji i think what she did to you was definately assault- as long as she didnt physically harm you (that would be battery- i.e. bruising). If you feared harm from her then that's assault, she didnt even have to physically touch you , and she did sooo...yeh assault lol...I do learn SOME things from law :wub:

I agree it was def assualt! a bout a year bac sme srt thing happened 2 me i ws wlkin in a shop when my kirpan which ws loose fell on the floor i picked it up n carried on wlkin wen i herd shoutin. "OMG!! he has a knife!!" i turned around n saw they wer tlkin bout me a shop assistant handled it very badly and made us feel lyk criminals she ws tlkin as we wer nutin she tld security n sed i shld tke it off!!!

However the manager cme dwn 2 srt the issue out and he ws very understndin and apologised for his colleagues behaviour n we wer led out the store throu the bac!! Not many ppl are aware of the fact that wer sikhs n carry kirpans but not terroists!!

I think you bit confused both man and women should be amritdharis wen they get married! you shld see or girls as sisters and men as brothers until you get marries however wen u get married it changes and they no longer are their brother!! when you get married you marry your guru when amritdhari wedding has a stronger significance not just marrying husband but your guru as well.

Those who went to the smagam or watched would see how gr8 this smagam was alot of sangat cme frum england, der was sum frum atlanta, australia india and USA!! your suppose to encourage your spouse to take amrit with you. Say 2 people are married and both are not amritdharee, if one wants to take amrit and goes to the amrit sanchar by himself/herself they punj piarey with give him/her amrit one condition that they will not keep a physical relationship with their partner until they too become amritdharee. The choice is yours it comes down to what rehat maryada you go by strict or whatever.

I think its a great thing if 2 people get married then they get amrit together the key is to get amrit together or alreayd be amritdharee be4 marriage.

The tragic death of these 3 singhs was very unfortuante but lets hope that maharaj gave dem kirpa and there are all with vaheguro! This must have been hard for the families but they must have faith in maharaj and remember they are in a better place! eventhough this accident happened nearly a year ago it shldnt be forgotten.
