  1. Sikh Philosphy The Sikh religion is strictly monotheistic, believing in One Supreme God. Absolute yet All-pervading, the Eternal, the Creator, the Cause of Causes, without enmity, without hate, both Immanent in His creation and beyond it. It is no longer the God of one nation, but the GOD OF GRACE. That being so, He creates man not to punish him for his sins, but for the realisation of his true purpose in the cosmos and to merge in from where he issued forth. 'O my mind, thou art the embodiment of Light; know thy Essence' 'O my mind, the Lord is ever with thee; through the Guru's Word enjoy His Love.' 'Knowing thy essence thou knowest thy Lord; and knowest thou the mystery of birth and death'. (Guroo Granth Saaheb Jee, P. 441) The basic postulate of Sikhism is that life is not sinful in its origin, but having emanated from a Pure Source, the True One abides in it. Thus sayeth Naanak: 'O my mind, thou art the spark of the Supreme Light; know thy essence.' Not only the whole of Sikh Philosophy, but the whole of Sikh history and character flows from 'this principle'. The Sikhs do not recognise the caste system nor do they believe in Idol-worship, rituals or superstitions. The gods and goddesses are considered as nonentities. This religion consists of practical living, in rendenng service to humanity and engendering tolerance and brotherly love towards all. The Sikh Guroo's did not advocate retirement from the world in order to attaining salv ation. It can be achieved by any one who earns an honest living and leads a normal life and shares his/her earnings with the needy. 'He alone, O Nanak, knoweth the Way who earneth with the sweat of his brow and then shareth it with the others'. (Guroo Granth Saaheb Jee, P. 1245) The Guroo's gave new hope to the down-trodden mankind to join his fraternity as equals. He is a creator of the NEW MAN in the New World supported by a New morality. Riches and personal possessions are not hinderence in living by spiritual ideals. Sikhism does not believe in the maxim, "It is easier for a camel to go through the eyes of a needle than for a rich man to enter into the kingdom of God" On the other hand the Sikh dictum is as under: 'They, who are attuned to the Lord by the Guru's Grace, Attain to the Lord in the midst of Maayiaa, (i.e., Worldly Illusions/Wealth).' (Guroo Granth Saaheb Jee. P. 921) Sikhism does not accept the ideology of pessimism. It advocates self-confidence, optimism and hope. The maxim, "Resist not evil but whosoever shall smite thee onto the right cheek, turn to him the other also", does not find any place in Sikh way of life. On the other hand it enjoins its followers to practice self-determination, self-respect, and self-defence : "When an affair is past every other remedy, It is righteous, indeed, to unsheath the sword." 3. Remembered joys are never past. - James Montgomery The One on the Bus....... Waheguru Waheguru Waheguru Waheguru Waheguru I was a child, seven, when I saw you then From a bus you would gracefully descend Liquid eyes of doe, blazing of light Bearded and turbaned, a resplendant sight. So enthralled and thrilled was my heart I thought that it would never again start Who was this prince, from where did he hail? This King of Kings, in form displayed. Many years like pages had flipped ahead You were still in my heart though not yet in my head. You came to me again, to me so seemingly late Yet, Oh how blessed was to be my fate. You blessed me with your sacred sight Into my heart bubbled sheer delight You brought this fool to your door That I might serve You evermore. I came and left my ‘self’ at the door My body, my mind, my soul are yours evermore This empty hollowed vessel you would shape And fill with your Amrit’s kiss and fluid embrace. With your nectar you bathed my hair I was to keep it all over my body as You put it there. As a practical living testament of obedience of Your will. It had yet to become more wonderful still. With a gentle twirling of your hand You wrapped upon my head a soft cotton band My head swam, I weaved, I though I might faint Did I deserve the image of my Guru-saint? It was His will and His will alone He, yes He, chose me as my soul lay prone He took my life, he cleansed my soul Crown-turbaned my head for the world to behold. That crown which tenderly cradles my sacred hair >Emblimatic of form of all 10 so fair Is also the loudest messenger for all to see from afar The world cannot not only hear but witness your parchar. In my trembling heart Ardas did I humbly recite “ Please keep the dignity and respect” of your acolyte Ever keep me, ever keep me at Your feet. That I may never know the worldly ones’ utter, bitter defeat. Lovers and detractors of His image have come, chattered and gone The kirpan, kacchera, kangha, kesh and kara on my body linger on Some obligingly wear or come to discard the regal crown I among among sinners of both sexes cherish it like treasure booty found. You see, it is the crown of the King of Kings you see Of service, sacrifice, simran magnanimity; the reward of the humble devotee The emblem of noble saint-soldier, of king and servant among all Those who chose to leave it have forfeited life’s all. Be I a king, a doctor or destitute pauper I will turn my sight towards no other But He, the King in form who alit from the bus He has my loyalty and ever-ending trust. Waheguru Waheguru Waheguru Waheguru Waheguru With love and regards.... Be a Sikh (to be continued) Sincerely Jagdish Singh Califronia.......

Have a great day……… To be a Sikh means one who seeks and learns of the truth that is God. What is the meaning of GURU? Gu means darkness or ignorance…. RU means enlightment or dispeller in Sanskrit. One who dispels the darkness or ignorance and is enlightened is called GURU. There are millions of false gurus out there. They are there to accumulate wealth and self recognition. They expose their spiritual powers and cause others to bow before them in ego rather then deferring to the true Creator. Be careful. Don’t sell yourself to a phony guru, avtar and minister. Be respectful, kind and compassionate towards others. Accept others for who they are, for the choices they’ve made even if you have difficulty understanding their beliefs. Everyone has their time to spiritually bloom........... Dhan Dhan Guru Arjun Dev Sahib ji. His mytardom is on June 6th. 6. http://www.tapoban.org/phorum/read.ppa?f=1...1&i=1852&t=1852 Bhai Ajit Singh jee is one of the thousands of shaheeds who are unknown to the Sikhs. He breathed his last on June 5, 2003. You all will be surprised to hear that he left his body for heavenly abode just few days ago but we are still calling him a shaheed related to the 1984 events. Please read on to know why. Bhai Sahib was born in a small village in district Jalandhar. From childhood he was a very keen and focussed person. He grew up to be a very handsome, tall young man. He joined Indian Air Force in the fifties. There he met Bhai Tejinder Singh who was a well known Singh of Akhand Kirtani Jatha. Bhai Sahib Randhir Singh jee had not left this world yet and was physically alive. Bhai Tejinder Singh jee gave Bhai Ajit Singh jee some books to read. TAKING AMRIT After reading these books, Bhai Ajit Singh jee totally changed and expressed his desire to become a Sikh of Guru Nanak Dev jee. He wanted to meet Bhai Sahib Randhir Singh jee. He met Bhai Sahib and in the mid 1950s he took amrit at an amrit sinchaar organized by the Akhand Kirtani Jatha. After taking amrit, Bhai Ajit Singh jee took up the great rehit of Khalsa – Sarbloh Bibek. He used to get up at 1:30 am and his nitnem ended at around 7am. All day long too he kept reciting baani or Naam. UNCOMPROMISING ON GURMAT He never compromised on the principles of Gurmat. One of the most striking fact is that he did his military service in Air Force without tying his beard. It is totally unheard of but Bhai Sahib kept his r ehit. In those days there was a Muslim senior officer whose name was HT Latif. Latif gave Muslims a special permission to maintained trimmed beard. Bhai Ajit Singh jee took a copy of the order of Latif that a religious Muslim is allowed to keep short beard. This letter greatly helped him in his service in Air Force. Once there was a medal ceremony where Bhai Sahib showed up in his flowing beard. The Hindu officer who was distributing the medals, took a note of Bhai Sahib’s beard and asked him to tie it. Bhai Sahib refused and explained to him that it is his religion to maintain flowing beard. The officer took offense and threatened to take action if he did not obey orders. At this Bhai Sahib showed him a copy of the order of Latif, where he had allowed religious Muslims to maintained beards. Bhai Sahib said that he too was a “Maulwi” of Sikhs and wanted to keep a flowing beard. As much as the officer did not like this but he had no choice but to let him off because Latif was a much senior officer at that time. Guru Sahib kept Bhai Sahib’s honour. Once a senior officer started smoking in the presence of Bhai Ajit Singh jee. Bhai Sahib requested him to stop smoking. He got offended as he did not expect a junior officer to tell him what to do. Bhai Sahib again requested him but the officer did not care and spoke rudely at him. He went as far as breathing smoke towards Bhai Sahib. This was too much for Bhai Sahib to sustain. He held his hand and forcefully stopped him from smoking. The senior officer immediately ordered that Bhai Sahib be arrested. He was arrested and put in jail. Preparations for court martial were started. Some senior Sikh officers found out about this event. They explained to the other officers that this case could take a political turn if Bhai Sahib was prosecuted. Finally Bhai Sahib was released and he joined his service again. He did not apologize for his act and was willing to sacrifice for this act. Bhai Sahib was very close to Bhai Fauja Singh jee. Bhai Sahib used to stay at his house all the time and vice-versa. Bhai Sahib had great spirit for the chardi kala of Khalsa. POST 1984 LIFE After the rise of the militant movement of the Sikhs, Bhai Sahib’s house became a main stay for the militant Singhs. They used to stay at his house all the time. Being a Khalsa, he could not refuse anyone from staying in his house. He served them with his mind body and spirit. Famous Singhs who used to stay with him were Shaheed Harjinder Singh Jinda, Shaheed Manbir Singh Chaheru, Shaheed Balbir Singh, Bhai Mahal Singh, Shaheed Labh Singh and many others. Everyone knew that the consequences of letting the militants stay at your house meant total destruction. Despite knowing this, Bhai Sahib never cared for the consequences. He did not care that his 3 sons and a daughter too could be victimized for this. He was worried about a higher cause. He wanted to serve the Khalsa of Guru Gobind Singh jee and he was willing to sacrifice himself for this. Finally the fateful day of July 1986 arrived when Bhai Sahib was arrested by CBI for helping the militants. He was taken to the infamous Tihar Jail of Delhi. He was severely tortured there. He stayed there for 9 months and in these nine months all efforts were made to make him incapable of doing any more sewa of Panth. They could not kill him as he was an officer in the Air Force but they did just that i.e. turned him into a harmless person for them. He used to narrate how he was made to witness tortures of other gursikhs. These gursikhs were tortured in front of him and then killed in fake encounters. One famous Singh who was killed this way was Roshan Lal Bairagi a Sikh who had converted from the Hindu faith. Bhai Sahib was given electric shocks that greatly effected him. Electric shocks were given to his head and even to his private parts. He was severely tortured. They also used to give him injections and after those injections, he felt that his hands and feet used to start shaking. By the time he came ou t, he had developed some fatal disease as a result of this torture. Because of this shaking of his hands and feet, he fell down a flight of stairs one day and fell into a coma. He stayed in this coma for about 6 years untill June 5, 2003. He breathed his last on that day. His three sons and a daughter live in the Toronto area and are gursikhs. His elder son Bhai Rampal Singh is a famous leader in Toronto area. To pay our tribute and respects to this shaheed, we are organizing an Akhand Paath on June 13, 2003 and bhog for this akhand paath will commence on June 15, 2003. Please be there to pay tribute to this shaheed of panth. The Akhand Paath Sahib will be done at Gurdwara Tapoban Sahib.
  7. The Story of Pandit Maan Singh Shastree By Bhai Sahib Randheer Singh jee in Gurmat Gauravtaa Translated by Admin www.tapoban.org Once, at my home in Narangvaal, Sree Guru Granth Saahib was parkaash and I was sitting before Guru jee at amrit vela doing naam abhyaas, when at dawn a Jatha of 25-30 Singhs came before me. Upon arriving, they bowed before Sree Guru Granth Sahib jee and sat down. One amongst them was a very Khalsa-looking Singh with an open beard. Upon seeing this Jatha, I stood up and respectfully offered my Fateh to all. I said "it is by your grace that at amrit vela I have seen all you Singhs and have been gratified. You have removed all sign of gloom and laziness. Please tell me some worthy seva (for your Jatha) so I can engage myself in it." >From among them, the impressive Jathedar Singh spoke and said "The seva we have come for, just listen to that. No need for any other seva" I humbly replied "please ask for that seva, it will be done, but later. First make me grateful by giving me the seva of feeding you" They replied that they had already eaten and were completely full. I interrupted them and asked from where they had eaten so early in the morning and they replied that they had eaten everything at the KuTeeaa and they had also spent the night there (Outside village Narangvaal, there are some idols, around which there are the huts of the idol-worshippers. They are commonly called KuTeeaa). I heard this and sat down. My second question was "you spent last night at the KuTeea(n) of Narangvaal and then you probably stayed at the Devi Puree Sadh Dera of Raipur the night before ?" They replied "yes, indeed, we all spent the previous night at the Devi Puree Sadhu Dera and there bathed and ate." I heard this and because of the rising of Khalsa Spirit in my heart, I said firmly, "you look like Guru Dashmesh jee's tyaar-bar-tyaar Singhs, but it is very unbecoming that "jaa(n) ko thaakur oochaa haoee|| So jun par ghar jaat na sohee". You are the servants of the great Satguru Nanak and Dashmesh then what on earth did you go to the deras of these false and unfaithful ones for? When you say you 'went and stayed there," I hear this and feel so much shame" Hearing this, the Jathedar Singh spoke plainly, "Singh Sahib jee, you can kill us or leave us, however, we certainly went to not only those two places, but countless others. You will ask why?" so now see his response: "Before you, in the presence of Guru Granth Sahib I will truthfully tell you. My name (perhaps you've heard of it) is Maan Singh. I'm a Nirmala. Don't be fooled by my appearance, I call myself a great intellectual-champion. I've gone to KanKhal and other Hindu pilgrimage sites. No one has lasted before me in a debate. Many famous Pandits from many different schools of thought have debated me and I've defeated all of them. Snaatanists, Arya Smajists, no matter, all the great debaters from the big schools of thought have been defeated by me in debates. All give me respect. I am also a very refined paathee of Sree Guru Granth Saahib jee, no one can do an Akhand Paath like me, nor read baaNee like me. I'm also an expert in doing Katha of GurbaaNee. All those sitting here are my 24 or 25 students. I've taught many many such students Katha. You can know that I am proud of all my Gurmat and other knowledge. But despite this pride, and despite all my readings and scholarly nature, I'm empty from the inside. I haven't found true peace. I have totally not found the Gurmat Naam that all of GurbaaNee speaks about. I h ave considered my inner state, and to find the secret inner peace, which I know can only be found through Gurmat, I have left my home. I will find this peace and Gurmat Naam from wherever I can, no matter where I have to go. For this, I have not left visiting any Saadh or Sant, I have not restrained myself from going to any fake person or fake-dera even. I have visited Naamdhaarees, so-called Nirankaris, Radha Swamis, and all the famous Sants of these paths. " I interrupted him and said "there too you only found confusion, what did you gain?" Maan Singh replied "I've gained nothing. My inner yearning and chaos hasn't gone away. All the fake Saadhs and Sants I visited (according to your words) just had a ruinous, confusing effect on me. According to their own schools of thought, they did not hesitate from blowing their mantars and I didn't hesitate to take them, but I got nothing from them." I said to this: "if you got nothing from them, then why have you taken these young souls as your students. To teach them story-telling and to make them fake/empty Gianis? Why are you ruining them? You have committed a massive sin. Knowing that you yourself are empty from the inside, how did you develop a taste for pointlessly ruining these young souls? First, go return to their homes all these students you've made homeless as a result of your them teaching empty knowledge and pointless stories. Then come alone and having mercy on your state, I firmly promise that we will prepare naam abhyaasee, jyot vigaasee Panj Pyaaray, and from these Guru-Form Punj Pyaaray you will receive the Gur-Deekhyaa (Gurmantar) and you will immediately find peace and salvation. In this dark Kaljug, the right to give the salvation-giving, true Gur-deekhyaa has been given to the Punj Pyaaray in the presence of Sree Guru Granth Saahib. A fake Sant can be praised and considered as big as he wants, but he still cannot alone give Gur-Deekhyaa or give salvation." < br> Hearing these words, Maan Singh gave his assent and immediately turned back, saying "It is my good fortune that I have come here. Your words were rough and firm, but they are very beloved to me. I don't know how many places I was going to go and be ruined. In the future I'll go nowhere else. According to your request, I'll attempt to return all these students to their homes and return the carts and carts of books I carry, so I can be rid of my false pride of being a great Scholar." For two or three years I eagerly awaited him, but he never returned. Later I found out he died. Now he will be saved in his next life. ********** The moral of the story is that wandering different pilgrimage sites and debating on religious matters for egotistical purposes brings no spiritual reward. Those who don't eat for spiritual purposes, or those who wander naked, or those who keep silent all cannot find any salvation without the Guru. They can never be spiritually awakened without the Guru. Those fools who destroy their own bodies and throw ash upon themselves lose their honour in this world and in the next as well. Without Naam, all other hypocritical acts are not any good, and Naam can only be found from the Guru. Without Gurmat Naam, no one can be saved. Submitting one's self to the Guru leads to discovery of the truth. From the True Satguru, the True Naam can be found. By meditating on this Gurmat Naam, ego is destroyed and salvation can be found. Leaving Gurmat and taking on some other false hypocritical path leads to nothing. 8. This is truly an act of braveness and courage. Now who would have to courage of continuing with the regular activities of Sri Darbar Sahib when that place is being surrounded with thousands of anti-forces? So here goes the Jakara to our shaheed Singhs: Boole Soo Nehaaal!
  9. vaaheguru ji ka khalsa vaaheguru ji ki fateh Before these books (ncert) discredited saheedi of Satguru Teg Bahadur Sahib ji and now they have indirectly said that there's no place for Sikhi. What will be next? Does history repeat itself? vaaheguru ji ka khalsa vaaheguru ji ki fateh
  10. parnaam shaheeda nu!! vaaheguru ji ka khalsa vaaheguru ji ki fateh Next time show him a picture(?) of Guru Teg Bahadur Sahib Ji and ask him what he thinks about Guru Sahib. vaaheguru ji ka khalsa vaaheguru ji ki fateh
  11. vaaheguru ji ka khalsa vaaheguru ji ki fateh Plese refer to the last pauri of the first vaar of Bhai Gurdas Ji. You can read it on sikhitothemax.com. That's where Bhai Gurdas Ji writes about the meaning of Vaheguru and how it comes from the 4 yugs. If you want to read more about it, I suggest u get a hold of Bhai Veer Singh Ji's teeka of Bhai Gurdas Ji diaa vaara. He has given about a 2 page explanation on how he thinks that this pauri is not written by Bhai Gurdas Ji. Va - comes from Vasdav according to Bhai Gurdas Ji and according to Bhai Veer Singh Ji there has been no avtar named Vasdav so far. Vasdav is actually the shiromani devta according to the Hindu philosophy. Bhai Veer Singh ji wrote lot more than this, so get a hold of the pothi and read for urself. vaaheguru ji ka khalsa vaaheguru ji ki fateh
