I think Guru Sahib may be telling us that we should eat a light meal that isn't bloating so we don't struggle to wake up early. Guru Sahib does not want us to be malnourished either so I think we should eat enough but not too much. Similarly, I think Guru Ji may be telling us to sleep a healthy amount but not oversleep, wasting time and ruining our health since oversleeping is also bad for us. I think it may be okay to sleep 8 hours and maintain a balanced lifestyle where we earn an honest living, japp naam and carry out the rest of our responsibilities and duties as Sikhs.
