  1. I think Pavitar Singh did an excellent job in representing Sikhs. I've listened to Nihal's show for quite some time now and many Sikhs in the past spoke and tried to articulate themselves but always got lost in their emotions. What i am now seeing is that Sikhs are rising above their personal emotions and are sticking to the facts and not reacting with anger when posed difficult questions but are continuing to articulate themselves very professionally. Pavitar Singh is an example of this as he handled himself very well and came across very good too!!!

Excellent work from the callers too!!!

Overall, that was a really positive show. :biggrin2:

  2. LOL - what an <banned word filter activated>!!!!

I totally loathe this notion that all religions are equal...what a load of BS. If all religions are equal then we must accept that the Prophets of all religions are equal. Just study the life of Prophet Muhammed and compare it with Sri Guru Nanak Dev Jee Maharaaj.

How many concubines (sex slaves) did Prohet Muhammed have (all war booties)? How old was Prophet Muhammed when he married his last wife a 6yr old girl called Aiysha...he was 45yrs old. How old was he when he consummated (had sex) his marriage with his child bride Aiysha...she was only 9yrs old (not even started puberty) & he was 48yrs old. Why did he convince his step-son to divorce his wife...because Prophet Muhammed himself wanted to marry the wife of his own step-son.

i mean the list is just endless...

And then you have some Sikhs saying ALL religions are equal and by default they're saying that Prophet Muhammed is on par/on the same level as Sri Guru Nanak Dev Jee Maharaaj...seriously?!?

  3. How about lack of leadership? We cant even run our own gurdwaras, how will we run a country. Our current Sikh politicians are the most corrupt, who will we follow?

Alot of our issues in India and in the diaspora are actually a result of exactly what you've said...leadership. But that leadership can only come from our Sri Akhal Takht Sahib. So for me...as long as our Jathedaars are not soveriegn and are 'controlled' by external forces then we'll always have issues whether it be getting Khalistan or Khalsa Raaj.

First and foremost...we need to free our Sri Akhal Takht Sahib as it's under seige!!!

  4. PM Manmohan Singh is not a Sikh elected official and therefore he does not represent the Sikh Nation and his track record shows that he personally allowed for the promotion of 3 Butchers of Sikhs in Delhi 1984 into Senior Cabinet positions.

He isn't going to do anything and as Bhai Balwant Singh Jee says, the Khalsa doesn't beg before a Tyrant and the truth is Manmohan Singh is on the side of the Tyrants...so in my eyes he's a Tyrant...so why beg before Manmohan Singh who is a Tyrant!!!

The Khalsa are soverign and we need not beg before these dushts!!!

  5. Where are the Nihang Dals?, in all the protests that happen in the Punjab they are notable for their absence, apart from this lone Singh . They should at least come out in support of a fellow Nihang?

Exactly, where are the Ladliya Fauja(n)??? Where have they actually been for the past 30yrs???

In my personal opinion the True Ladliya Fauja(n) are only those Singhs that put their neck on the lines when the time comes whether they be a Nihang, Taksali, AKJ etc

  6. No he will not be. The jathedari should go back to Buddha Dal, as per puratan maryada, where the jathedar of Buddha Dal is the Jathedar of Sri Akaal Takht Sahib Ji

So you would have been happy for Santa Singh to have been the Jathedaar in the 1980's?

    Lol...LMAO!

Like us all, Buddha Dal is living off the greatness of our predecessors! When the panth needed them, they were nowehre to be found...and at times supporting the Government.

  7. Adding onto N3OS1ngh’s points. A lot of Gorae at my workplace watched the Birmingham protest on ITV News yesterday. They all said that had I not had spent 20mins the day before explaining who Beant Sio was and why Bhai Balwant Singh did what he did, then they all would have looked at all of those 1000 Sikhs in Birmingham as fanatics/terrorists supporting a suicide bomber.

So, it me makes me think…how many non-Sikhs actually saw the protest on Bham on ITV News and thought Sikhs are no different than those extremists who protest and support Al Quaeda’s suicide missions?

I’m in no way trying to take away from the Sikhs that went down that day…def not – I salute them all. I’m just saying, did the protest have the desired impact of highlighting the case of Bhai Balwant Singh to British people so that they would support us or have we pushed them away?

Do we need to get more media savvy and invest in a good Sikh PR team?

Don’t take my comments as an attack but some food for thought.

  8. Whether you like it or not, punjab janta has picked up this corrupt gov't through democratic voting system. If people of punjab don't give a damn about future of punjab or they are just plain spineless then why should i care?

Time to concentrate on individual jeevan and bhagti, according to hakum everything happens. When its right time, Vahiguroo ji will send an karak bhramgyani soorma;s like- maharaj singh nurangabad, baba bir singh ji nuragabad, sant jarnail singh bhindranwale to start another revolution in punjab and root out all the malech.

While day to day activism is good but stressing over it and overly concentrating on it to point where its affecting individual bhagti should be avoided at all cost. Sometimes, its good to let things go and flow as everything is part of maharaj's leela and hakum.

Sorry bro but that is the worst cop-out i've ever heard. Yup, lets all wait for a Messiah to come, where would the panth have been if we went with that mentality...no where! I personally don't know the solution to our problems but yours is not a solution but the cowards way out...this is no different to the Sidhs going into the mountains when Babur invaded or the Brahmins started their chalisae when Aurangzed was hell bent on his Jihad through force!

  10. Practices of Ravidassia community may seem weird to "mainstream" Sikhs, but Ravidassia community has been heavily ostracised and treated as "outcastes" by mainstream Sikhs in previous generations. Hence, their desire to separate and build their own religion. This has been promoted by RSS to weaken Sikhs. Actually, what the elders and Sangat TV are doing is good. We need to build community relations, show them that they are our brothers and sisters, and re-integrate them into the mainstream Sikh fold. It will take time, but we don't want to be in a position where, due to caste differences pursued by Punjabis in India and, to some extent, in UK in elder generations, we break these people off from Sikhi completely.

People won't like this post. I'll probably be vilified, but we need to take a long-term view and not fall for the tricks the Panth Dushts are trying to inflict on us.

I completely agree with SinghWarrior here!!!

  11. Shame on them. Please try to change their mindset and tell them the importance of wearing a neat turban.

Do your part in trying to get these guys see some sense.

BTW, what's wrong with "they come to work in trouser and shirt :blink2:"

i myself wear trouser and shirt...i'm just trying to say that i would have hoped that working in a professional environment & waering trouser/shirt they would automatically be more inclined to wear a dastaar.

  12. if asked that as the word Raam appears in Gurbani so much, that is surely proves that Sikh Guru Sahibs worship Hindu Gods like Sri Raam Chandar. Here is the answer to this from Gurbani

kabeer raam kehan mehi bhaedh hai thaa mehi eaek bichaar |

Kabeer, it does make a difference, how you chant the Lord's Name, 'Raam'. This is something to consider.

soee raam sabhai kehehi soee kouthakehaar |190|

Everyone uses the same word for the son of Dasrath (Sri Raam Chandar) and the Wondrous Lord. ||190||

kabeer raamai raam kahu kehibae maahi bibaek |

Kabeer, use the word 'Raam', only to speak of the All-pervading Lord. You must make that distinction.

eaek anaekehi mil gaeiaa eaek samaanaa eaek |191|

One 'Raam' is pervading everywhere (God), while the other is contained only in himself (Sri Raam Chandar). ||191||

  13. I was once told by a Hindu that Sikhs are Hindu's. Rather than try to prove why Sikhs are NOT Hindu's i asked him to prove why Sikh ARE Hindu's. He started off with all the lame stuff.

So i stopped him and said, "mate your giving me alot of your opinions here"...i said "if i want to know who Malcolm x was and what his beliefs were i will listen to his speeches...i will go direct to the person himself and not rely on the opions of tertiary sources"

i then said "If you want to know who Guru Nanak Dev Jee was or what his beliefs were, you have to read Gurbani. So i don't want you to give me your opinions...can you quote any Gurbani to backup what your saying because i can quote numerous to say Sikhs are not"

The guys goes, "i don't know any"

He looked like a proper fool...lol

So next time someone says that Guru Nanak is a muslim or Guru Nanak is a Hindu...just say can you prove it by quoting Gurbani!!!

  14. My personal opinon is that just as Sikhs today have been involved in doing the character assasination of Sant Jarnail Singh, in the same way some Sikhs have done character assisination of Baba Banda Singh Bahahdur. Even the Jathedar of Budha Dal - Santa Singh was invovled in the character assisnation of Sant Jee - so why can't 200 years earlier Rant Singh Bhangu added abit masala from himself to do the character assasination of Baba Banda Singh Bahadur? Is it not possible?

I can only image how Sikhs would have felt when they heard that a Sadhu whom Guru Gobind Singh had just met and within a day given Amrit was all of a sudden the jathedar of the panth? Is it not possible that this could have ticked off some Sikhs that could result in resentment?

No one is perfect, only Vaheguroo & Guroo Jee - so all can have some flaws but i can only look at Baba Banda Singh Bahadur's complishments to to see what he was like. For me the first thing that comes to mind is how amazing must have he been to take on the task of getting justice only days after meeting Guroo Jee...could we? He was unknown to ALL the Sikhs in Punjab but still was able to convince Sikhs in jungles all over punjab, who were in small bands and organised them in the jungles to start a mutiny which lead to Fateh within 20 months. I can't convince my family to do even the smallest things, but he brought all the panth together in some harsh times to acheive vicotry not only at Sirhind...but ultimately Khalsa Raaj - i mean that is just amazing!!!!! Yes, there was the handwritten letter from Guroo Jee but he still must have had the qualities & kamaii of a true leader!!!

When Khalsa Raaj was established did he create currency with his name on it? No...the currency was in the name of Guru Nanak Dev Jee & Guru Gobind Singh Jee. This doesn't seem like the actions of a power hungry, ego maniac that wanted to become the Guru of the Sikhs as is being presented by some Sikhs today!

Yes Baba Banda Singh Bahadur openly admitted that at Sirihind some Sikhs took it too far and did many wrong things - But being the jatherdaar of the mutiny & being so amazing, he took full responsibilty - like a true leader and its this which ultimately resulted in his world famous Shaheedi. Parnaam Shaheeda(n) Noo!!!!

I will only base my opinions on the accomplishments of Baba Banda Singh Bahadur and his accomplishments are endless. What greater way to live ones life than to accept the hukam of Guroo Jee and get justice, establish Khalsa Raaj & then to leave this world as a Shaheed!!!

Many 'scholar's' of today slander Sant Jee and in 200yrs time it will be the words of these 'scholars' that Sikhs in 200yrs time will probably belieive that Sant Jee was bad. Even many 'Sikhs' do character assaination of Sant Jee and many do it of Baba Banda Singh Bahadur...but its Sant Jarnail Singh's & Baba Banda Singh Bahadur's accomplishments that speak louder than a few words written on pages by scholars, be it now or 200 years ago!

  15. I remember from a Sakhi that he drew Ik Oangkar on the ground and did parkarma around it.

If he rejected the thread and other hindu things then he most certainly would have rejected fire.

Yup, Guru Jee wrote Ik Oankar on a piece of paper and did parkarama of Gurbani. It is for the fact that Guru Nanak Dev Jee refused to undetake the Hindu Marriage ceremony, that the Pandits and others saw this, as well as Gury Nanak Dev Jee's beliefs & revolutionary actions before as a threat to Brahmanism and as a result they tried to kill Guru Nanak Dev Jee by pushing a weak wall (kachee kand) on him but failed. The wall is still preserved even until this day.

  16. I will focus of non Kesadhari Sikh issues that come up time and time again in youth discussions

    - Non-Kesadhari's have Sikh pride but don't know what place they have in Sikh Society...are they even Sikh - worthy to wear even a Kara

    - They feel they can't contribute on Sikh issues

    - Their opinion is lesser

    - They're only good for donations to Gurdwara's

    - They are lesser Sikhs and sinful - some said not even worthy to recite Gurbani let alone pick up a Gutka

    - That Sikhi should be followed to the 'T' or not at all ie if you go to the Gurdwara be fully religous or don't bother to go and be a hypocrite by going and acting religous

    - confusion about what Sikhi is - mixture of Islam/Hinduism. Guru Nanak was half Hindu/Muslim etc

The scariest thing for me is that Non-Kesadhari Sikhs don't know what place they have in Sikhi or Sikh Society - they are confused about this the most.
